When you are vacuuming up leftover static grass, put a stocking over the end of your vacuum and that will capture all that static grass so you can reuse it.
THAT is a phenomenal tip! Thank you so much!
@@TheCrafsMan As much as I'd like to take all the credit for that, I actually learned that one from another talented UA-camr. Check out Luke Towan's channel some time if you want to get a whole bunch of tips and tricks for making dioramas and such. He's no Crafsman (there is no other like Crafsman), but he does nice work.
@@ricklepick9148 Thank you! I've seen some of Luke Towan's videos and he is on a whole other level. Excellent work!
I should probably catch up up on his videos now! Thank you again!
@@ricklepick9148 I was just headed to the comments to mention the same tip and that I saw it on Luke's channel.
Marklinofsweden also uses this technique for saving static grass. He uses simple but effective landscaping techniques.
CrafsMan is a national treasure.
International and hopefully immortalized in the years to come.
No he is not. He’s not even an international treasure. He is a universal treasure.
Kudos for the safety briefing. I remember your second (?) video with sand, reminding us to wear a respirator.
Thank you! I wince to think of all the times years ago I cut and sanded wood, plastic, and no telling what else WITHOUT any sort of breathing protection. :/ I definitely want you all to be safer than I was! :)
I like to watch an artist make choices. Like when you changed the blue cloudy background to the more lavender background. That really pulled the whole set together and gave it a great atmosphere. Really great!
Thank you so much, Robert!
And mannn, those Amazon backdrops... I don't think the wrinkles ever truly come out. I had to rely on the BG being mostly blurry. LOL! :)
CrafsMan’s shed is the polar opposite of the cabin from Evil Dead: full of positive vibes and you walk out being a better, more inspired person.
I've had a couple folks mention Evil Dead! I probably should finally watch that one. Maybe. LOL! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
@@TheCrafsMan 2 was horror, 3 was comedy ( 1 is just weird)
@@TheCrafsMan worth watching the original for the way Sam Raimi moves the camera towards the cabin.
I loved the way you showed the whole process, including mistakes! Most people don't realize how much you can learn from mistakes!
I think the stop-motion was the right call. It gives it an almost otherworldly feel, sets a great atmosphere.
"Otherworldly" - I like that! Thank you so much for watching!
@@TheCrafsMan Thank YOU!
That montoge is pure magic. I could watch you introduce bands to craft to for hours on end. Like the mellowest 80's vj ever.
CrafsMan I think I can speak for everyone when I say you never disappoint with these videos, they always inspire me to keep creating, they're so expertly made! dare I say, expertly crafted🤔
That's incredibly kind of you! Thank you for watching, and taking time to bigtime encourage!
I agree 100 percent! Well said ! 😎👍
My goodness this was SO much work and such a BIG project! I totally relate to digging deeper and deeper in to get something worthwhile, even if there’s a ton of trial and error. The results are incredible!
Brookes, thank you so much! I went into it thinking it would be the "fun part". LOL! Definitely lots of *error* involved in this one. :)
I always appreciate your comments.
This is my FAVOURITE video of yours yet…miniatures, set building, sculpture, painting finishes…a very COOL opening shot achieved, in all sorts of lighting. As always, music that moves me…or makes me move. Absolutely happiness here. Thanks, CrafsMan!
That has to be the fastest 15 minutes I’ve experienced in a long time! It turned out beautifully. And the stop motion camera work and scene setting really captures the feeling of being there. ☺️
Aww mannnn, thank you so much! :D
Serrated steak knives are awesome for cutting foam.
The mighty, mighty Crafsman!!! Simply the best, baby!!
Blue Bell Homemade ice cream 😂😂😂
Now that's crafsmanship you can taste 👍😉
Man... that voice acting is some dedication! Love the show, it's like an ASMR experience for crafters!
Crafsman, here's a little tip from the woodworking world to prevent stuff from accidentally gluing to your workbench. Coat the top of your bench in paste wax and glue won't stick. Any glue blobs that end up drying on the surface can just be popped right off with a little scrapey-scrape. I use Minwax or Howard's paste wax. Howard's is nice because it smells like tasty oranges.
I'm so thankful to have found your channel. It makes my heart feel good. Thank you for what you bring to us. Keep on Steadycraftin'!
It has been HOT in Biloxi and all Southern Mississippi!! Stay hyronated Crafsman! 😁
Oh mercy YES! Thank you for the reminder!
@@TheCrafsMan thank you for all the work you put into your videos. It's very much appreciated☺️
I really appreciate your sense of humor. Not sure why, but "did someone say spackle? Yus." got me.
:) Robbie, so glad you enjoyed that! Thanks for watching!
Crafsman is truely the Bob Ross of craftin' vids.
Chill, lovely and spreading joy and knowhow.
You have a way of infusing comedy in original, natural, and subtle ways. It doesn't go unnoticed good man.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom and your good vibes CrafsMan.
The two shots at the end, the day/night scenes, just those few seconds, gave me so much peace! 😊
9:33 sick edit
Thank you! I debated on a cross-fade but decided to get slightly more crazy with masking. When it's noticed, I'm so glad! :D
Hola AMiGO. I sure love the way you edit. Especially when you leave in small errors. Very amusing.
I will eagerly watch any content you make. Please, do the things that make excite you and it will always be fun. I doubt many people recognize a voice-over vs. Live talking so use use your Air Conditioner and don't melt.
I've watched MANY of your ViDEOs and I sure get a MiSTER ROGERs vibe. I grew up watching him and you have a similar style. I'm looking forward to the new intro video. THANKs!
BESSiNGs from ECUADOR
For what it is worth, you have the only channel that I play until the very end, without fail. You just deserve it.
Enjoyed this? NO!
Absolutely loved, loved, loved this! 💕
Thank you, and blessings.
Awwww, Mrs. Susan, thank you so much!
@@TheCrafsMan Just a hint..I'd so love to see Eugene visit. You know he is my favorite guest.
you introduced me to the concept of "static grass application" with this vid.
Oh man, nice! :D That stuff is pretty fun because the static really does the work (orienting the "grass" vertically in the glue+water) but it is MESSY. LOL! Thank you for watching!
@@TheCrafsMan you pulled it off
The end result looked great! Anyone planning on using spray foam for their next project, crafting or otherwise: wear gloves and clothes you don't care about getting ruined. That stuff is really difficult to get out of clothing. You can also keep acetone (nail polish remover) close by in case you need to clean a mess.
we love you Crafsman! my 10-week-old and I watch you at 3 in the morning when we (she) can't sleep. your content is so soothing and fascinating. keep it up!
Neil, that's absolutely precious to read. Thank you so much! I sure hope you both continue to enjoy! :)
This guy just always impresses me at everything he does
The nighttime shot of the shed was amazing, and gave me a good chuckle.
As far as voice-overs, I think you should do whatever is easier. I liked it just fine, and if that what keeps you cool and steady craftin, I'm all for it.
Since you had mentioned listening with headphones a while back, I always listen to your videos with my headphones on. Besides everything else you excel at, your sound is just incredible!
For those that don't listen with headphones TRY it, it adds another delightful layer to the already exquisite videos!
Thank You!
Sam, thank you for the feedback! So glad you enjoy this! I mostly edit with headphones, and do a speaker/monitor check every now and then... but lots of sounds are mastered more for headphone listening so sometimes things like crickets or the wind are barely noticeable in speakers. Thanks again!
I liked watching this. The end result is beautiful, but most of all I felt like seeing all the hard work that goes into such a simple shot. One of my favorite things is watching "making of" type of videos of movies, because in a way it reminds me of the importance of finding joy in the process. Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination. Thank you for your positive content, and never stop saying "I love y'all", I really feel like you mean it!
The long awaited miniature shop video! Can't wait to watch. (No shade, Crafsman, your videos are ALWAYS worth the wait). Thank you for engaging us along the way.
:D This one started to feel almost like it wasn't meant to be. LOL! Besides the problems mentioned in the video (software+hardware, heat & wilting...) I also had my LED panels overheat, which meant I would grab a take, turn them off, and hold them in front of the AC until they cooled back down. Had to do this repeatedly. LOL!
@@TheCrafsMan Thank you for staying with it. New fan. I can see you have great potential.
This video should win an award. I don't know which one, but it should be a really, really big one.
You never fail to inspire and uplift, Crafsman.
Nothing i love more than when a favorite UA-camr introduces me to new music.
wow yet another display of creativity. and a major S/O to your Wife, the true Most Viable Part of the video😄👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
These videos are now just works of art in their own right. Its just so beautiful to see how far you are continuing to push the boundaries.
Every single piece of this is just so great and beautiful Crafsman, but the ground with the dirt and grass is truly a masterpiece!!! I've always been a fan of miniature sets like this so just like Mickey D's, I'm lovin it!
I missed “Crafsmanisms”. Listening to you and seeing the art you create is peaceful and inspiring. Thank you!
Crafman, your skills are out of this world. You never cease to amaze. Not only do you have a universe of talent and knowledge but you make it fun and lighthearted. Some people are just way too serious about everything. I was one of those people. If during a project I messed up or something didn't come out perfect it was the end of the world. You've taught me that things happen and if it isn't fun it isn't worth it . Thanks buddy I, along with so many others, appreciate you and are happy you are where you are today
Wow! You really went above and beyond on this one! So much effort to shoot your intro. I was shocked when you said the greenery was wilting and I realized the set was kind of a one time build. That's crazy! lol. Neat to hear your trials and tribulations with Dragon Frame + motion control stuff. I've been wanting to try that. I guess one nice thing about the system you're using is I could just use 1 axis and try things out without having to go as deep financially. This was SO beautifully made. I loved your spin transition! The set is so lovely. Great work! You're an inspiration!
Thank you so much! And I like your idea about 1 axis experimentation. You could even wire up a stepper (Edu Puertas has a nice video explaining how he did this in DragonFrame.) and get by WAY cheaper. :)
Thanks again!
@@TheCrafsMan Wow, I had not realized DF had some direct Arduino support. I've long wanted to make a camera motion control rig but kind of put it off because I was going to also write an iOS app to control it via Bluetooth, but if I'm only using it for stop motion and using DF then 2/3 of the work goes away. (And I don't have to worry as much about motor noise/higher speed rates, etc.). Wow, that really opens the door to working on that. Thanks!
Beautiful! Plus, the giant hands at the end will now be the stuff of legends.
Love the new intro! And crafsman’s shrugging turning into drum beats sound effects at the end was great
That's so COOL! I do model train scenery, and it felt good seeing a different take on how we do things. That gap filler foam is a blessing, so much you can do with it. If you ever do rocks, I've learned cutting halfway through then ripping makes really good edges.
God bless you Crafsman!
Between spreading the spackle and sifting on the sand I swear you were decorating a cake for a momet there- looked like buttercream icing and coco powder!
You're my favorite to watch while I do my own 'steadycraftin!
SO COOL. I need to give this a shot at some point.
My man, I would really like to see you take on miniatures! I already knowwwwww the results would be top-shelf!
Thanks for watching!
I usually watch asmr videos to relax and this was wonderful! Entertaining, informative, and relaxing
Crafsman did you know I had a bad day and that I needed a new video of yours? Cuz I did. And I feel better now because of you. Like always... Thank you sir.
I'm not gonna be the first to say this, but Crafsman, this is absolutely amazing! It might be my favorite thing you've ever done. It just looks like a wonderful set you'd see in a Wes Anderson stop motion animated film
That stop-motion montage blew my mind - you are a veritable font of wisdom, good sir!
The voiceover doesn't bother me! Still fun relaxing as always. I'm also sure I'm not alone when I say we'd rather you be happy and comfortable while you do your magic! Once again thank you for an amazing video, you always put my mind at ease :)
Crafsman, I'm just in awe of the professionalism and quality for your work and your videos. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing what you do next.
For the past 3 years I have been brainstorming a fictional UA-cam series involving miniatures and puppetry so this was incredible for me to see. Thank you for sharing your genius and process.
I don’t know how I only just now found your most awesome channel. I thought I’d been to the end of the internet and back several times over. But here you are. Fresh craftin! Amazing work, sir.
Now I’m ready to… craft steady… steady craftin all night long! 🎶💃🏻
Funny, I was just listening to that song yesterday too. 😎
Beautiful work! Puppet movements are on point as ever and the variations of the end result of the build are incredible. Plus that soothing voice. Bravo Crafsman
So beautiful, CM... I gotta say, I love the music you create yourself, but that track over the montage got me a little teary just watching it. A perfect fit.
That was a beautiful scene and shoot! The night time version really reminded me of the swamp scene at the beginning of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland.
CrafsMan those final shots of the mini shop are the dreamiest of dreamy!!!
It's so pretty! The only thing missing is a lil Crafsman sitting out front. Love it!
We love y’all too, Crafsman!
Amazing job! The foreground trees added so much interest and polish. Great work Crafsman!
that was fantastic Crafsman - my son loved the montage in there and took some time out of his busy day knocking things over to sit and view it.
Excellent work on this intro! As an aside, I LOVE the touches of soul and hip-hop in your sound effects. Over the years they’ve felt as much a part of your brand as anything. 😉
Commenting because I couldn't not give you some appreciation for how absolutely stunning the finished clips from this project looked!
That static grass turned out really cool! Great project. 🙂
The thin coat of PVA glue on each surface to get a good tack, well that's some top tier craftin' advice right there.
Yes, I like the voiceover, to be honest I had not even noticed a difference without an A/B test. How's that for being observant?
Beautiful montage. Look at all those camera angles!
The night shots just about knocked me out my seat. Kudos, sir!
Amazing work man!
The grass looks phenomenal for the first time doing something like this. Great over all coverage for the trees too. I swear technical problems never cease to be the bane of a new project but in the end this will be great footage for future videos.
Thank you so much! It honestly felt like I was doing nothing but matting down clumps of grass into glue+water.
But when I'd look at it from a low angle, it would surprise me. Especially after the vacuum part. :)
Thanks again!
Honestly, Crafsman, your production skills are always on point. I can't tell the difference in your audio.
Right! I was like but don’t you always do voice overs?!
I mean, you always have impressed me, but wow...there's just nothing you can't do. SO good!
Wow, Joel. This means a lot-lot. Man... Thank you so much!
Please never stop being you.
I sincerely appreciate this right here. Thank you so much.
I could not stop smiling watching this
i dont mind this format crafsman, keepin it cool in summer is essential ! you do what you gotta to stay cool and keep yourself from meltin
New Crafsman video = A Good Day
Wow Crafsman... wow... that is so amazing looking! Great job with the static grass!
@TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin Now you need to sew a small puppet to sit in the chair...with a plate of CrafsMama's homemade biscuits and honey!
I'm waiting for the CrafsMama cookbook. :)
Easy to see how this kept you busy for a while!
I've been anticipating this video for a while. The miniature looks great! I'd never seen that "static grass" stuff before. Very interesting. And that camera rig... FANCY! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
I have learned that there are 2 kinds of materials: The ideal materials for the job, and the materials that are immediately available to you. Sometimes good enough is great!
Exactly what I needed today! Calming crafting videos, so glad I found your channel🥰
The aesthetic, the atmosphere! Perfection
I backed it up and rewatched that transition at 9:35 a dozen times. I mean, the whole thing is great, but that little transition..man, that’s the stuff right der.
What a phenomenal outcome! I'm so looking forward to your progress with the stop-motion. Congrats on the new equipment!
I've been to the workshop at the local children's museum and learned that the way that they make their big displays is they make the frame with wood and chicken wire, use that spray foam to fill in the shapes, then cut it to shape with a turkey carver. You know, one of those motorized cutting things, like a hedge trimmer, but smaller. Then they cover the whole thing with truck bed liner spray. And then they paint it. I never had a project that merited this process, but I've always wanted to try it.
Looks amazing, Crafsman. I can see you put in a lot of meticulous, deliberate work to achieve that. 👏🏻
That looks amazing!
Cool detail about higher quality with stop animation vs video.
I’m sure everyone in the comments agree the voice over is perfect.
The end result is absolutely amazing!
I just want to go in that tiny door and do some craftin.
Wow the finished product is amazing Crafsman! That has got to be one of the coolest youtube intro bumpers I’ve ever seen!
Crafsman! That's beautiful! Great work as always... Inspired!!!
Absolutely phenomenal. This is the best part watching such a process.
As always, I leave a CrafsMan video with my faith in humanity restored. Also, These Are Shapes is amazing! Thanks for sharing them!
This came out so well, truly top tier stop motion. Excellent work on the lighting especially.
