The best thing that can happen to you in life is retiring. You will indeed earn less money, but it is worth it. It takes some time to realize that you will never have to work again, but believe me, you will be busier than you were when you started working. You will have to reorganize your life, but once you find the routine I can assure you, it is great. A negative point of being retired is that your days will be too short to accomplish everything you want to do! Trust me.
Don't worry about the money. If you are going to be making close to the same money you will be fine. Remember, you should be spending less. You will save on gas, clothes, lunches out, etc. I retired 16 years ago at the age of 54, and it is the best thing I ever did. And if you feel the urge, you can always find a part time job ..... there are tons of them out there. Spend your first few months of retirement doing nothing and ease into your new life style. Trust me, it gets better every day.
I could have retired at 55. Civil service, post office. Stayed til 60. My body started to tell me it’s time to go. Pension was about the same pay as I was getting. Civil service never took out soc sec & I never worked enough before that to get enough points so I don’t get soc sec or medicare. I carried over my health insurance from work so I’m ok. Co-workers asked “whatcha gonna do? Travel?” I said sit around & do nothing, it’s my favorite thing to do. So that’s what I’ve been doing for the last 6 yrs or so. I love it. Though I should move more to stay in shape but I never planned on making it this far anyway. I say if you’re physically able & you mostly like your job, keep going. Unless you have plans for your future. Retirement dreams. Then go for it. It’s nice not to have to go to work & still get paid. Do what you want, when you want. It’s your time. 👍😃☀️🌵
Thank you, my friend! I like your idea of retirement. To just wake up every day and do exactly what i want to. That's pretty exciting. Thanks so much for dropping by! God blessy you, sir!
Good Morning 😊 Its Time To Relax and Wake Up Late 😂 Dont Fear , You Got This Brother 🙏🏽 The Lord Knows Best 🙏🏽 Have a Wonderful Day and God Bless You 🙏🏽 Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
If you love your work and your co-workers it'll be a big social adjustment. If you're like me where you are suffering with "Occupational Burnout" you'll take to retirement like a dolphin to the ocean. You will wake up in the morning and smile with joy. Wishing you the best. Subscribed.
David!!! It's ok to feel a little anxious or nervous about retiring. I mean... you've been working your entire life and to all of a sudden not need to anymore, its quite a llife altering experience! But with every season of change comes great opportunity. You'll have more time to do the things you enjoy and all the time to relax and perhaps be of service to someone who can use your friendship or a helping hand! You're going to be just fine, dear brother! May the Lord be your strength and comfort. I love you so much! God bless!!! 🙏♥️
David, I never envisioned retiring.. I always said, if anyone asked, that I would have to work until at least noon on the day of my funeral! My "retirement" was forced on me because of my amputation. But, God, having always looked out for this ignorant cuss, saw His Plan realized. I am now keeping busy being a minister of The Gospel, finally, after having been called when I was a young 'un. I am starting a new congregation at the first of the year and I am very excited to see what God has planned therein! Speaking of church, how is your congregation getting along? Prayers for clearness of mind and easing of anxieties.
That's an awesome story, my friend! God had a definite plan for your "retirement" and I'm sure that he has one for me too, which is a pretty exciting thought! My church is doing okay. We're still looking for a pastor, but haven't had much succes so far. We wil continue to pray and seek God's direction, as I now He has a plan for us. Well, thanks for stopping by sir!
I just hit my retirement age last month 66&7months. If you can work longer, you will get a couple of hundred bucks more. If you work until you reach 70 years old. Good luck!
I've never considered that retirement could be an unnerving thing, but everything you're saying makes sense now that I hear it. I'm definitely the kind of person that has to keep his mind occupied or else go crazy. The lathe sounds like a great start, man. Maybe take up sasquatch hunting? Lol
Exciting and scary at the same time I’m sure. Anyone I know who has retired, once they are into the retirement rhythm wish they had done it sooner. Regards Mark
I'd say it's probably normal to feel anxious about it. Though I haven't experienced it myself. The only advice I can give based on people I have known is to stay active and make an effort to engage with other people in person as much as possible. Too much inactivity and social isolation is really the two main issues I've seen from people retiring.
I recently learned about an early retirement option 72T and that is seriously being considered. Oh I love my lathe even though I haven't been practicing very much this last year. Retirement will work out well and you will be fine.
Hey David! I have a few years to go but I still feel the same way you do. I started working for my dad when I was 12 and have worked ever since. It’s hard to imagine. I try to think about purposeful activity beyond retirement. That seems to help.
Maybe you could still do some videos from your work parking lot after retirement. It would continue a tradition...and you don't have to worry about anyone saying anything! 🙂
Join us here on the far side... You'll enjoy the time of your life.... Do beware though, you'll be so busy that you'll wonder how you ever had time to work... 😂🤠
I think the one thing you will miss no matter how buzy you keep yourself will be the friends you have made at work unless you can meet up with the closest of them but yeah having a plan to yourself buzy is important imo David too many people retire and sit on their arses then due to the shock in their system it kills them seen it too many times gotta keep the brain and body active my friend try to look forward to it be positive about the freedom you will have from the monotony of the work place enjoy you Smokes I'm an even more relaxed feeling start getting into cigars and tasting the blends you don't currently smoke much if your like me I have way too many blends so some do get overlooked but you will have the time when you do finally retire we in the uk don't have a social security payments like you do but just what we have paid all our working lives for a small government pension I was listening to Paul gilson talking about getting 2800 bucks a month when he retires on SS that like a lottery win for us brits unless we have had the foresight to pay into a private pension which I didn't cus I wasn't clued up on stuff like that. I reckon my retirement pay will be around 185 pounds per week or about 150 - 160 bucks to love my retirement on yes life on retirement for us brits is quite shite unless like I say one hsmas been cleaver. All the best David.
Hi Mark! They don't give you much when you retire, do they? That's a shame. Well, thanks for all of the excellent points that you make, my friend! I appreciate your words of encouragement!

I was planning on retiring at 55 but extended to 57…. No regrets but should have stuck with the 55 plan.
