- I went on a pilgrimage to Shohei Ohtani's hometown in Ohshu City, Iwate prefecture. I was curious about the environment during his formative years leading to his status as the global baseball phenom and Japan's national living treasure.
The place was quieter than I have expected. But the countryside appeal is undeniable there. I visited Mizusawaesashi station (Bullet train station), Mizusawa station, Ohshu City Hall, Hanamaki City. I also had a chance to have a glimpse of Hanamaki Higashi HS campus. Outsiders are allowed so I tried to take a quick video by the highway of the campus.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience to be in a place where the living legend and Japan's national living treasure was born.
WARNING: This is just a raw, unadulterated montage, sans the spectacle. It's because Shohei is the spectacle.

Thank you for watching. Yes, it's possible to do a day trip to Oshu! The last bullet train departure from Mizusawaesashi station is 20:12 and the ETA in Tokyo station is 23:20. The trains and subways within central Tokyo operate past midnight so you should be able to reach your hotel.

Ohtani lived sleep breathed baseball as a kid and is from a small town, he is WRONG city in America. He should be in St Louis the best baseba city in america by far. He would of OWNED the city. Mistake by him playing only in Los Angelas the city of weirdos and gangbangers
