The reason is , Kento is with full of confidence since winning the world championship. Another reason is Momota , is one of a kind of player that never make unnecessary error ( i mean he make less mistakes compared to other player)while his game is very saving energy. If either Chen long or Shi yuqi in the final , i think Momota will take gold but if Lin dan in the final it would be a 50-50 chance that Lin dan could win it because momota is younger and fitter. The only reason Lin dan could win it through experience of big tournament. But fitness is the one that makes a player less great. The number is getting bigger , we just need to accept it. Younger player is improving and new skills of badminton is evolving . We are all human being , no body is immortal. Need to accept it.
Well? AG 2018 result : Lin Dan and Chen Long won the team's gold. In individual event, Momota and Chen Long lost to Ginting in R2 and QF respectively, and even Ginting couldn't win the gold. Christie knocked Shi Yuqi out in R2 and went home with the gold after being defeated by Chen Long in the team event final. You can never predict anything with sports. Need to accept it.
Lin Dan will be 35 year old in 2 weeks so of course he can not stay as fit anymore. He still manages to steal a title or two like LCW which makes them the gods of longetivity! LCW has had better fitness than Lin Dan for the last 3 years although Lin has always had the better mentality from the start.
Sadly Lin dan is 35 and Lee Chong Wei 36 now so they won't be winning so many more titles ;) ! I am happy Lin Dan won the New Zealand Open this year anyway! Chen Long hasn't won anything this year.
