    This guy is good. I watched 5 pages worth of reviews of this lens, which I impulsively bought without even being a photographer. Seriously, I'm watching video reviews as a therapy, I want to hear how good something that I don't need is.

    Love this lens for weddings it’s a beast. Using it for over a year too 😊 I’m used to the weight now it’s amazing 🤩

    I have shot 6 weddings with this lens. You should mention how sharp it is. It is not a bokeh monster. However it renders images good as it gets. Goood review

    This is an honest and awesome review buddy!! Wait how big is this lens?? haha Yeah I love it and the size and weight of this lens is not an issue for me because of the quality you get!! Never fails at every event shoot I do I get somebody that tells me "now I see how your arms are so built" and it's true it is a workout but a well worth workout!! And I agree I LOVE my RF85mm1.2, that lens is Amazing!! Thanks again for this fun video!!

    I’m transitioning from Fuji to canon after doing a couple of weddings and the Fuji missing a fair few afc tracking shots that I deemed to be very easy! little brides maid walking throwing petals on the floor, a run of 30-40 images 4 in focus absolutely not what I’d expect from there top of the line camera. So just purchased the r6ii and this lens and to be honest my experience so far, this will be all the lens I need for weddings. I’ll rent everything else when needed

      It's a fantastic lens. I agree. Many people could shoot an entire wedding day with just this one lens.

    I think i missed it but what do you think of the size of the lens? Also, is it heavy?
    I have the lens. Its impressive. It is really really sharp. I find it is not an issue with the spider holster and dual black rabid shoulder strap as a combo. I holster when its not my main being used and it doesnt feel heavy

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  8 місяців тому +1

      I don't know if you heard. But its a big lens.
      I love it. Having a good strap will help ssave the shoulders and back on long shoot days!

    The weight is a much bigger issue than I would have guessed to carry all day, but dang is it a great lens. I ended up getting a hip holster for it which took care of the weight thing. If I could only have one, I think this would be it - I'm no pro though, just a hobbyist. I have this and the 70-200 F2.8.

    Hahaha i found avery good deal, and had last week payout that can buy the lens, but having already primes and both 24-70 &24-105, i found it very hard to justify for my crew to use it since we are hybrid media team.
    It is a great review. And like you said F2 does not make a big difference in event photography. Hahaha maybe in the future when i really need it i will regret this decision

    NOT SHIT, that’s heavy !
    40 Sec enough for a sub, love your sense of humor.
    Fell at home doing the same lol.Did I mention that I'm fond of comics of repetition ?
    That’s pretty crazy, I'm exactly on the same shooting experience, using 24-70 f2,8 then only prime (35/85 for 4 years).
    I just bought that masterpiece (3 shoot only for now) and I don’t feel the heaviness that much !
    Would you rather go on a wedd with 28-70 F2 + 15-35 f2,8 or + 85 F1,4 ?
    I'm wondering if it's more interesting in most situations to have a wider angle or amazing portraits.
    I'm curious about your experience on that because I love both ! (even I prefer 85 mm over all lenses).
    I'm pretty sure one day I'll carry 3 camera, à 20/50/85 1,2. Lol.
    Keep making vids, your (also) made for it.

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  7 місяців тому

      Appreciate the Sub! 👍
      My current go to set up for wedding is the "holy Trinity", 15-35 f/2.8, 28-70 f/2, 70-200 f/2.8. I still have all my primes and bring them to every wedding. Sometime its nice to have that extra couple stops of light for darker wedding venues. But having zooms for weddings is just so versatile. I felt like when shooting with primes I was missing shots because I was too close and couldn't back up quick enough.
      I have been eyeing up adding a 14 1.8 or 20 1.4 to the kit because it would make for some fun dance floor shots

    Thank you for this review? Do you recommend RF 85mm 1.2 or 28-70 F2 ? I am little confused

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  2 місяці тому +1

      I don't personally own the rf 85. I have the sigma art 85 1.4. I love both lenses.
      Depends what you're shooting. If you are doing strictly portraits. The 85 is great. But the 28-70 is was more versatile. For weddings I'd definitely recommend the 28-70. Unless you already have other primes in that focal range.

    • @shanu7861
      @shanu7861 2 місяці тому

      I'll be doing Mostly portraits. I like to have little zoom and 85mm doesn't have zooming options. I will go with RF 28-70mm f2

    you mention having the 24-70 before, was it the rf version?

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  7 місяців тому

      No. It was the EF. And I sold it. I'm probably going to be adding the RF 24-70 to my kit though because of the IS and being able to better shoot handheld video. As well as a more common filter size so I can easily share filters without having to worry about step up/down rings.

    I wonder how well it would do for low light sports like indoor basketball. I only have one concern. Do you think it is a big lens?

    • @S_Ofori_Sports
      @S_Ofori_Sports 8 місяців тому

      I have this lens and I shoot sports, both photos and vids. Though it is a beautiful portrait lens, it works well for sports but I found it to be not ideal. For video, I love it, mostly cuz it's the only medium range I have. It's not ideal but wouldnt recommend it for vid. I have it paired with the R5. For my photography business, it is abosultely amazing

    I totally agree that it often can stay 95% of time during wedding session or other event. One my cons is that it produces ghosts on f2 with attached uv filter on some of focal lenghts like 70mm or 40mm. Without uv its much better.

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  7 місяців тому +2

      I don't use UV filters so I can't really speak to this. I used to use them a long time ago and know you have to buy the more expensive ones to have good results.
      Someone once said to me "Why would you buy a $2500 lens and put a $20 piece of glass in front of it" since then I stopped using them.

    considering it for a R7, what you think ?

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  4 місяці тому

      If you can afford it and don't mind the weight I think it's an amazing lens. And unless technology drastically changes, that lens will out live at least 3 camera bodies.

    I am purchasing the canon RF 70 -200 F2.8 and purchasing the rf50m f1.2 prime lens. I own the EF 35m F1.4 and EF50m F1.2 and these new RF canon lens for the price, needs to blow these older lens away and they just don't! I own the canon RF 24-70 F2.8 L and it is up for sale. Why is it up for sale? I can spend less money and get just as good pictures with some of these older, outdated EF lens. I want to purchase this lens and get rid of the EF lens prime. Why I don't? I have watched other youtubers review this same lens and say it was softer and not as sharp as primes, and the bokeh is not as good as primes. so for me ( not everyone else on here) I will pass on this lens.

    • @jaylphoto
      @jaylphoto  6 місяців тому +2

      The older EF lens are still fantastic options on these mirrorless bodies. I almost think they are better than when they were on a DSLR

    • @rich99cobra
      @rich99cobra 6 місяців тому

      I agree with you. They are outdated, and canon is moving to the RF. I am slowing moving to the RF lens. The question is, should people purchase this lens and throw away their primes? in my opinion, no... Is it a good lens, I am sure it is. I was talked into ( watching UA-camrs) and purchased the 24 70m f2.8 and I was not blown away ( it did render good color) but my old EF lens stayed on my camera. The 24 70 f2.8 is great when the sun is front or you lite your room in the house like Taylor swift concert. my point? Do not always believe youtubers. I have also read the 28 70m has heavy lens breathing. I am ordering the rf 50m F1.2 and rf 70 200m. I am going to subscribe! Keep the honest reviews coming! Great video!@@jaylphoto
