    Not only is it a movement about encouraging varied training, it also encourages Olympic Lifting as well as proper nutrition. I feel that awareness of both those things are a great asset to the entire fitness community as a whole.
    Not only that but the community aspect of everyone working out together is really something worth experiencing. Especially if you can beat others (if you're competitive).

    He certainly would be. Strength is definitely desired in Crossfit, but not the ultimate goal. The ultimate achievement is superior performance in 10 fundamental areas, strength, power, speed, endurance, stamina (short burst), balance, accuracy, agility, flexibility, and coordination.
    Crossfit is more than just lifting weights. Its about HOW you lift, and WHY you lift. My opinions have changed completely since experiencing crossfit, now I work out to make myself better in those areas.

    Crossfit is more than just fast paced light weight work all the time. There are strength aspects and skill aspects as well.
    Crossfit is defined as high intensity work. High intensity can be applied to strength work as well.
    You are right, it is NOT that much different than the way most people workout. It's more of a different way of looking at it.

    @RandomStevie I meant a third of what this guy does overall, all the strength, conditioning, etc, etc, all the work he does at his crossfit's workouts, not just this particular lift, but I did say the word "here", so I totally see why you would think I meant this video in particular, I acknowledge I wasn't clear or specific enough, and yes, I also believe most guys could push press 40kg/85lbs, even though I've actually seen some at the gym that couldn't, but they're an exception.

    @fiddlebender88 Wow....your words are so touching to me. I was making a statement about people who know nothing about crossfit and or don't even do it shouldn't waste their time commenting on a video of crossfit. Oh and another thing, how is he not absorbing the weight? Mikko does it in the video.

  • @KennyBrx
    @KennyBrx 13 років тому

    @fiddlebender88 he is absorbing the bar when he lowers it by bending his knees. Also, if you do not do crossfit dont question it and if you do not do crossfit why waste time commenting on crossfit videos? Boom.

    i think they couldn't, even if they wanted to, because they do a lot of stuff and they do it at a very high intensity. do they recover properly from everything they do? are they doing basic maintenance on themselves? honestly, i don't think so

    I like crossfit but I agree with some of the comments I read. 115kg@80 is really good for sure but its testament to how average crossfit is and how there goals are so mediocre. Klokov did 225@105 easily had 235 in him do the math way over 2x bodyweight, this guy does 115x3@80 thats not even 1.5 bodyweight lol, and according to crossfitters he's the best of the best. Crossfitters should have higher goals and believe in themselves more why not go for 200kgx3 seriously.

    First of all, it's not a strict press. If it was a strict press, he would be pressing with only his shoulders and lowering with only his shoulders.
    Look up the differences between a Strict Press, Push Press, Push Jerk, and Split Jerk. Also notice how all olympic lifters utilize these as well as "dropping" the weight on their chests.
    They dip down as well as press with their arms to decrease impact.

  • @Relaxe
    @Relaxe 13 років тому

    @RandomStevie You're just being silly. While I love Oly Lifting and I like Klokov, you're comparing an elite/genetic freak/olympic athlete that works specifically for that goal AND takes steroids with a normal guy that decided to work out to stay fit.
    Mikko is incredibly strong, if you think any random guy on the street can do a third of what he's doing here you're insane.

  • @Relaxe
    @Relaxe 13 років тому

    @RandomStevie Listen, I think Olympic Lifting is superior to Crossfit, but that doesn't mean these guys don't work hard or that SOME of them are far far stronger than most guys on the street or in the gym, besides, what kind of math are you doing there? Who is push pressing 85lb? I don't get what you're trying to say. I still say that it's extremely good for an 80kg man to push press 115kg. That's almost 145% his bw. Do you think there are a lot of guys out there that can do this?

  • @kernel86

    No big deal. Im really wondering how size takes just 255lbs. But technique seems really good.

    I highly doubt Mikko went into this workout thinking "I better use bumpers so it looks like I'm doing more than I really am. I just HAVE to impress the UA-cam trolls."
    Get a life dude, Mikko would break you.

    learn more about anatomy... hmmm interesting. Eccentric loading of a 255 push-press would do 1 of 2 things: Cause Rhabdo, and or destroy your low back from trying to stabilize and keep that bar moving in straight line. I don't care how strong your back is, that's what would happen. Further more a push-press is to aid Olympic lifting, hmm and how much eccentric loading is done during Olympic? OH that's right ZERO.

  • @captainspoof101
    @captainspoof101 12 років тому

    First of all, thats 255, not 225, and No, not all of crossfit is about olympic lifting, but the movement he is doing directly translates to olympic lifting. Also to do a push-press correctly it is supposed to drop and your supposed to catch it like that. And if you think that's wrong look up people doing push-press, you will not see a difference. That movement is also designed to do build "speed through the mid line" not "eccentrically load your spine" your wrong just accept it and move on

    @RandomStevie And you're obviously not at the same level as one of the top shotputters in the world, but that doesn't you're not way better at it than the big majority of the population. I guess what I mean is just because someone is far better than 99.9% of the population (Klokov, Cantwell) it doesn't mean someone else is not good as well (Mikko, you?), even if he's "just" better than 98% of the population. Hell, I'd be extremely happy if I was at Mikko's level.
