The original Boney M was a big hit at discos in Europe in the late 70s and early 80s. We were tearing up the dance floor to this tune and other Boney M songs. I never managed to hear and understand the lyrics until I heard Aurora's crystal clear singing. Fun fact: The Norwegian P3 show invites artists to perform cover songs by famous bands. But they don't know which band nor which song they will be performing. Aurora and her band are given one hour to practice before performing live. Apparently they only spent 30 minutes rehearsing Rasputin. Absolutely Amazing! In a similar fashion, they also covered Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman" on the same show, different occasion. That will probably impress you as well. She definitely made it more g rated! You will easily find that performance on YT.

Got to love a person who can turn a song, that became a meme, back into a song.

I know what you mean. Aurora is my go-to artist when I'm feeling down, especially her live stuff.
And yes, her smile makes me smile! I love her serious stuff too, but when she has fun, I have fun!

    Great reaction 🤗
This song was given to her as a challenge, and she and her band had an hour to rehearse before singing it live 👍😎
I think her best covers are:
    “Teardrop” by Massive Attack
“Across the universe” by The Beatles
“Life on Mars” by David Bowie
“Famous blue raincoat” by Leonard cohen
    “Believer” by Imagine Dragons
    About Auroras cover of “Believer”:
“I'm not that good at new music - as everyone probably knows. I also went through their lists - and saw the name Imagine Dragons. I had not heard of them before - and think it was such a cool name - Dragons are so cool” AURORA
    ✌️🌍❤️

I don't think that Grigori Rasputin was really viewed like this. This is a >40 year old song written by a crazy disco group. Aurora, as always, makes it her own! Great reaction!

Rasputin was charismatic ana mysterious. Women love that.
He was known for womanizing 😊

Your confusion about the lyrics is...this is a cover of a Euro disco song: ua-cam.com/video/huI6ESp1UyQ/v-deo.html It's one of those songs everyone knows, but rolls their eyes at. Aurora has taken it and made a clever version

When she takes that breath right before the second stanza of the second verse, it's because she almost came in too early. .(She covers it well!) She jumps the gun a bit in the first verse but the band follows right along. I looove how in sync they are. 🙂

      ha....nice catch!
And yep....great artists know how to just roll with it and make it work regardless.

Aurora is something else and has a very playful side😀 I am certain she is the one with the healing power, not Rasputin😉 Sorry to hear you have had a tough time. Hope it will get better soon❤️

I think you would have understood and appreciated this more if you'd watched the original boney m version first and then realise what a fantastic twist on the original this is. the original is fantastic too of course disco/techno

I never expected to see an acoustic version of Rasputin, but of course Aurora could do it! Great reaction, Brandon!

tbh I've never been a fan of this song. Maybe in part because a coworker added it to our playlist at work and I've heard it a LOT. But Aurora somehow made me like it. All the more impressive knowing they had like 1 hour to learn and rehearse the entire thing.
    Also, that little scrunchy smile she gives the camera at the end is worth the price of admission either way. :}

We all need Aurora! The melancholy is never depressing, always uplifting. Impressive when you think of the subjects she often thinks about. Then again, not so surprising, she helps us recognize some of the things that are not so great but always with the message that life is worth living and that we can overcome our difficulties. I am hard ass attorney 😊 but really belive this wonderful creature make me a slightly better person and the world a better place to be. Thank you for great reactions! Very hoig and enjoyable!💪🏼👌🙏🏼😊

Simply pick up a history book or inform about Rasputin on the Internet, then you will find that the content in the song is not invented. This version of Aurora also lacks the third verse in which Rasputin is killed. Which is probably also the reason why Aurora does not sing the third verse.

Well, probably also because this song is one of the unprepared songs they get an hour before they perform it. Shortening it down a bit makes sense. But she did alter lyrics for God is a women when she did that one, made it less sexual.

Don't take this the wrong way but it's so funny watching people react to this song with no knowledge of the original. It was a big hit when I was a child in the '70s and we got over our confusion decades ago. It's so nice to see the same song, albeit performed in a new way, still confusing the heck out of new people in a new century.
It was just a fun disco song I broke my mother's favourite vase jumping around to. Aurora's version is more folky but retains the fun, silly element. I love it. Aurora said they spent 15 minutes rehearsing before the performance, which is for a show that challenges artists to create and perform a cover of a song within one hour of being told which song they will be covering. It's a fun show and this song and performance reflects the atmosphere of the show quite well.

Ok…once you mentioned the lyrics about Rasputin…the man…I know you haven’t heard the cover she is doing this song of by the 70’s BONEY M.
You should listen/watch their original then come back and visit Aurora’s cover again. It’ll be even more fun and yet beautiful.

Surprise song for Aurora. Ok maybe currently much less surprise as she become more and more "playful" too. Anyway thay ha like 15 minutes to reherse it before a show - I base it on a Aurora reply on some YT comment :). And I just this version of the song.

I didn't like the original version of this song at all but Aurora of course with her version can make a crap song awesome! No offense meant to anyone that likes the original, just my opinion.
