Well I would say the main new thing of the X-Pac compared to the older Compact is the fact, that the material as well as the zippers are now water proof… That maybe would have been worth mentioning.
@@Zuckerpueppi Just bought it for this reason. After a simple water test it got DRENCHED. It is most definitely NOT water proof. Water pools inside of it and the zippers do not protect water from getting in. It’s just fake marketing unfortunately.
I am buying the H73 for the hospital. But this model in white was my first tomtoc bag. It’s been 4 years since then I guess and it is still going strong. This brand is actually good, not super overpriced and they IMO has the best computer and iPad protection stuff.
Grabbed this bag for a 5 day trip to San Diego; perfect size and fit everything I needed, securely. (Full edc/wallet, puffco proxy, wax, glob mops, battery bank, snacks, etc etc etc) I think they wasted internal space with the padding and there's really no need for the padding at all. I'd appreciate more methods of securing stuff higher in the bag, as it all falls to the bottom (maybe an upper zipper front pocket on the inside. I'd also appreciate a fidlock strap and/or buckles with more swivel. The orientation of the strap is pretty good for a fixed strap, but I'd prefer the anchors weren't fixed. The tomtoc is way closer to $40 with coupons all the time and is incomparable to the AER or Alpaka.
I like how Tomtoc opens the main compartment, with Aer city/day sling you have to pry open the bag on both sides to get wider access but Tomtoc's opener is flush to the back on the rear side and you only have to pry open the front side. Aer day sling also looks bulky and not as flush and wrapped to your back. Aer city sling is more like Tomtoc's hug to the back, but it has too many straps like the compression straps don't do much and looks too noisy, the compartment opens from the middle instead of from the top.
Does the buckle have that plastic sound kinda like tick tick tick? I know this X-Pac version been upgraded to alloy buckle. I have the normal version and that plastic buckle sound is annoying when sometimes I move the bag or strap around.
I had read that the more recent strap was longer allowing for more comfortable across chest wear. I don't know how recently you got the custom, but do you notice a difference in strap length? Does it wear comfortably across the chest? Wonderful review, thank you for your efforts!
@@ThePerfectBag Thank you! You're probably right. I'll check out the source, I know they (the company) did say the more recent productions had longer straps compared to the original/older black bags specifically in response to customer requests. My apologies for not having been more persistent in my research before commenting and wasting your time. Your reviews are fantastic! I love the 1 take aspect. Again sorry for having taken up your time with anything inaccurate.
Well - the Aer is better constructed and has a full xpac body where this encorporates some ballistic nylon on the outer. This tomtoc feels roomier though and is a better value. I prefer the aer day sling 3 MAX over this bag but not the regular day sling.
@@ThePerfectBag Thanks this helps!! I noticed the tomtoc wasn't fully xpac but I saw online you can customize your own tomtoc and make it fully x-pac while choosing a color so I might do that
is it me or does the x-pac one look a bit smaller even if they are the same measure just different material (not a bad thing just asking because i have purchase the basic tomtoc and I want it to look as small as possible so maybe I should have bought the x-pac instead)

I have the Bellroy Mini Sling (4L) which is comparable in size to the TomToc (4.5L ?) but was too small to fit the iPad Mini (which I use when traveling). I loved the smallish size though. Returning from vacation I picked up the Bellroy Lite Sling (7L) which has material similar to xpac and is big enough to hold the iPad Mini while still being relatively thin. I noticed that the TomToc site states that an iPad Mini can fit in this version. You have an iPad 11, but what do you think? Is it a matter of an iPad Mini "just barely being able to fit" or can it do so comfortably? All the other features of the TomToc checks the boxes including the "hidden" back pocket which is great for passport/money and secured against the body. Great video.
I wouldn’t do this one for an iPad mini - it would fit but not great for it. There’s many more I’d pick before this if I was basing the decision on that device
@@ThePerfectBag the iPad Mini isn't the primary reason I use a sling. It's just the one additional device I bring when traveling. Mainly I use my sling in an EDC use case. While I really like the Bellroy Lite Sling for travel, the 7L size is a bit bigger for EDC than I'd prefer.
Ok. I think the ipad will fit in the TomToc as a ‘throw in’ but the lack of structure and padding might make it feel not as great. Ultimately, I guess my suggestion would be to buy it from Amazon…try it and flip it back if you don’t like it.
Awesome bag, but they really seriously need to consider working on the divider and those week pockets they don't they're useless I've tried to use them step spills out of them there's no stability in them bottom line they just suck and you know it's sad because they did such a great job a great display of ingenuity and talent but they went and tossed it in the mud by using that week little divider they need to put some hook in the back of it they need to put some zipper pockets on it so your stuff isn't all flying all about inside it otherwise great job Tom talk keep up the good work can't wait to see the upgrades❤

This is $60 and aer xpac is $115, how are these being compared as the same price bracket?
Because aer is overpriced..

I like this bag. I am glad it has no magnetic buckle. It would not be for me. I have this bag and love it.
Is the rubber coating outer layer? I don’t like the rubber coating that scratches and scuffs.
I’m not sure which layer you are talking about? The material on this bag is XPAC. VX42 specifically on all sides except the reverse.
Does this have a key sling like the other? Can’t quite tell from video.
Yes! Sorry I didn't feature that. It is a black key leash about 6 inches long in the front pocket.

They are the same, but I think the material does look tighter at first glance.
@@ThePerfectBag so the x-pac "looks" smaller?
