  • "If you are a person who's having relationships and has emotions and thinks about what it means to be alive and die and be in love, then you love literature." - Issac Gerwitz
The New York Public Library’s Berg Collection of English and American Literature is one of the world’s most celebrated research collections of literary manuscripts, autograph letters, and rare books. These holdings encompass almost the entire range of English and American literature-from early editions of Chaucer and Shakespeare to the manuscripts of Virginia Woolf’s novels, the original typescript of T. S. Eliot’s The Waste Land, and the papers of novelist and memoirist Paul Auster.
