Cole Porter's lyrics are always layered with double entendre, sometimes up front and others are quite risque I think you have to make the assumption for yourself. Love For Sale was banned from being played on the radio. Even now if you listen to the lyrics it's quite raw, so in my opinion Cole Porter was writing for those who could read between the lines and punking the encroaching censorship police.
