I do like how Bad Box Art MegaMan has sort of become a reoccurring character in other Capcom games at this point. Resident Evil 3’s remake had him as the face of a popular toy line and this one store in the first area had figures of him all over the place. Maybe someday he’ll get his own game. I can’t imagine it’d come before an X9, ZX3, or Legends 3, but I like to think it’s possible.
To this day, I want this version of MegaMan to have his own game. It's the one thing I may never have and I WANT it! Have it be like this mixture of classic MegaMan platforming, but more exploration and treasure-finding-focused. This version of MegaMan is supposed to be a treasure hunter, right? You could get treasure for money to level up your stats and also get the Transport Items. Have all the Robot Mas- er, all the _Master Diggers_ be younger, handsomer, more experienced treasure hunters than Mega Man is to really sell home his underdog status. And as Mega Man beats them, have the gear he gets from them help him both in combat and in treasure-hunting. As for Dr. Wily, have him be this billionaire genius who hired all the Master Diggers to find these eight special treasures, because they're the power source to this huge ancient weapon and invincible golem army or whatever that Wily wants to use to take over the world. Mega Man bumbles his way around the globe, fighting Wily's hired goons and defeat the Master Diggers, then find out about Wily's plan somehow and put a stop to it somehow. Have the Yellow Devil be a Temple Guardian or something! This crap writes itself!
Im glad he’s getting more love these days. Burned as i was back then i saw his inclusion in street fighter x tekken as a fun joke character with no malice behind it. Just poor timing. I was taking aback by just how angry everyone was over this and felt it was way overblown. Its nice to see people look back on this more kindly. Im one of the ones who would love to play as BBAMM one day and have really embraced this iteration of the character (ahem….my avatar) i loved seeing him in RE 3 remake which tells me capcom still has a soft spot for him :)
They literally cancelled 3 different megaman projects right before going out of their way to spend money on this elaborate troll version of the character to basically say to the fans "ha you wanted megaman we gave you megaman.. enjoy". This was a elaborate fuck you to megaman fans imo.
@@EdgeO419 this game released around the time that those projects were cancelled though. Things like that take a bit of planning, conceptualizing, and creating. This game and that character were very likely planned long before any of those games got cancelled. Thats why i was always baffled that so many of us though it was a mean spirited troll rather than a poorly timed execution. If those games weren’t cancelled i would bet everyone would have thought he was a hilarious joke character poking fun at the Americanized box art version of mega man.
@@pgcroonerva3256 Right and all they had to do is release a megaman character similar to the sprite they already had made for MVC 3 for Zero, instead they went out of their way to release this abomination. I dont even buy their excuse about Inafune "authorizing' these changes, he left the company 2 years before SFXT came out and was very vocal about his problems with CAPCOM after leaving. I feel they not only made this shit to piss of players but also as a way to stick it to him after he left and then hide behind Inafune so called blessing of the project.

As for how capcom handled the release of the character i don’t think it was spite, just REALLY bad timing. These games and their characters are made well in advance and they probably thought it was a funny joke. It didn’t land well though BECAUSE of the cancellations. Capcom can do some really stupid tone deaf things and continue to do so. For me the most egregious thing they did here was the on disc dlc. I’ll agree to disagree about their intentions with this version of Mega Man though.

Back than the people who designed box arts got very little information about what the game looks like ahead of time. They just got a very, very vague description.
my idea is sort of a mix between standard mega man and viewtiful joe (didnt play much but have an idea of how it works) or more specifically mega man with hand to hand combat attacks
and to elaborate some more it has kinda had a cult comeback with the 2012 update making it a much more fun experience but yes at the time people where very unhappy with capcom and the on disk dlc sucked asssss though on disk dlc sadly became pretty common practice for fighting games and you are forced to download new characters anyway

It was in development but it was generally unknown to the public until like 2016, what was announced was Rockman Online, which was a Korean MMO that was gonna feature characters from the classic series and the X series. Not much was known (and to this day isn't) other than the fact that every character had their own type, and a few cinematics shown here and there. Get your facts straight, buddy.
