Without getting into specific details of what I learned during my stay there in Deira & Discovery Village, prostitution is illegal, but it's dependent on who is involved. I have been chased by a pack of Chinese prostitutes across Al Jazeira St. as early as 5pm. I have had a tall African girl sidle up beside me in a crowd late at night and offer me quietly as she slipped by. I have watched Filipina ply the trade in the parking lots of Discovery Village & seen them get out of luxury cars late at night in the parking lot across from my residence in Deira. I even remember a Russian girl who regularly would get off the bus just in front of my place, and then wait for some time before a car would pick her up and speed off. It was always late afternoon as well, and she was always wearing very expensive looking nightclub outfits & heels. You could find what you were looking for there...if you knew the right people. I do believe there was a respect for the police & CID(undercover police) as things were always very discreet & hidden for the most part. There are lots of news articles about groups getting busted for trafficking women from their home countries in exchange for a job promise or just simply money. Nevertheless, I have fond memories of the UAE & Dubai in general.

You cannot even imagine how millions of trade is done here in Deira everyday. Its where all the business people from all the countries comes here to buy and export goods.
