crazy how toxicity leads to actually getting rewarded.. meanwhile longtime viewers and subscribers (the non toxic part) have probably never even gotten the opportunity to even be in the same lobby as you let alone 1V1.. Sunless once did the same and I found it controversial then because you're basically rewarding his toxic behaviour and giving him the attention he sought. Great video nonetheless but still weird to say the least. (ps I rarely play rocket league and I don't follow anyone besides watching videos here and there so I have nothing to gain. this is purely observations from the past few months)

I get what you mean and yeah I agree. But then from an entertainment standpoint, saying you're 1v1ing someone that sucked up to you can look bad on your brand as people will just think you want everyone to suck up to you and that's how they get rewarded. Instead the whole "Toxic/haters getting trolled/what they deserve" methodology has just excelled on youtube for YEARS and so is more likely to bring in the numbers, which is what they want at the end of the day. They need to make the most entertaining content in order to attract the biggest and largest audience possible. As well when you said "giving him the attention he wants." everyone that posts positive/encouragin comments ALSO want the same amount of attention and then the argument can be made to just say wow what a suck up, Mertzy only likes fans that worship him. Like at the end of the day it's really hard to achieve that balance where no one feels unfairly treated and no one gets a massive ego.
