Thanks! They keep making it more and more difficult to do simple maintenance yourself.
I was told by the dealership when I bought it that I should never service anything myself and I should always bring it in to have their mechanics do the work. I said "sure thing" and gave them the thumbs up.

Great video! I have a 2019 as well with about 6900 miles. I'll give this a shot myself because the dealer will charge through the roof.

You should run the air conditioner or heater on full blast after you have changed the cabin filter before reassembling to check for any motor noise caused by any debris falling into the motor. I learned the hard way and had to take apart again to clean out some leaves that fell into the motor making a loud noise when maximizing the air conditioner.

It used to be way easier. Why do they have to make something simple so complicated. We used to just push on that tabs of the glove compartment and boom access. But it is a great detailed video.
I think the manufacturer makes it difficult enough so people will take it into the dealership.

I buy my filters from my local auto parts dealer. I don't buy anything special.
I want to know where is the air intake vent that takes the air inside from the car cabin into the AC? I want to place an air freshner near that vent.
My 2019 jeep compass limited had a Black plastic wall where bracket was. Now I gotta take it to the shop after all.

This is the same complicated process to get to the fuse box on the driver's side.
With my mazda 3, I just unclip the glove box and swap the filter.
I wonder if replacing this filter will help get the musty odors out

I had to use a wrench to loosen the 10mm bolt holding the bracket over the filter cover. I dropped the tiny wrench to the left of where the filter box is. Any idea how to retrieve it?
Any luck? I would say try using a telescoping magnet.
Sliding a piece of paper under the filter stops any debris from falling into the blower motor.
Do you know where the petcock or coolant drain plug on the 2019 keep compass?

How often do you need to change this?
I have heard that it should be changed every 6 months. I typically change it somewhere between 6-12 months.
Will this be the same on a UK Right hand drive JEEP, or will that be behind steering collumn?
I haven't worked on one but I would assume it is reverse of the US.

What the names of the tools required for this job?
Which tool specifically (at what time in the video)? Typical tools are standard head screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, torx screwdriver, socket set.

The dealer really doesn't want regular folks to be able to replace this filter 😂😂. This is how they will justify charging $80 and up for it. My sonata is so much easier, no need for a damn screwdriver or any tool. Yet they'll still charge you $50.

Yes, it should be the same. I believe the 2017 and earlier is much simpler to do.
Yes, exactly the same. I used a impact driver to remove all the hardware. I have a Makita impact driver with different speed settings. Only use lowest setting when reinstalling the hardware to keep from breaking or stripping anything. Having trim removal tools makes easier work removing the panels and prying open the glovebox housing. Having the right tools makes the job quicker and keeps you from scratching or breaking anything.
My dealership told me that my 19 compass didn’t have a cabin filter when I asked them to check it. Whatttt???

I agree that a trim removal tool would be ideal… However most homeowners do not have that tool

Why did you shake your head? Are you a pro mechanic? People have used fkat head screwdrivers to pry stuff since fkat head screwdrivers have existed. There is literally zero difference in process ir results.
just purchased this vehicle after trading in a '15 cherokee.... this is like brain surgery compared to the cherokee... thank you for this. smh.... I know they do this on purpose.

Went to take out the filter and realized the last company that installed it put it in upside down😅
Does Jeep always make things this complicated? Most manufacturers you can replace the filter without tools. You just pop out the glove box by hand
I think they knew you were going to buy one of these so they made it extra difficult.

Most complicated cabin air filter change I’ve ever seen. Only stupid jeep makes it nearly impossible to do routine maintenance.

You have to take the car apart just to replace the cabin filter good grief. Good job engineers. The Kia Forte I have you just open the glove compartment and slide the filter out. That’s it
