The only other thing I would add to that is a map of the area I'm in and yes I'm aware that you're probably familiar with your area but if you need to deviate around certain things it could be handy.

The ACU can be dyed with black walnut hulls. It make a good camp then. I just did this with some ACU last fall.

Welcome to my world > picked up my INCH bag after it sat for a few years unused & found out that some wascally wabbitt had replaced all my gear with lead bricks !!!!!... LOL.
Then i modified a 2 wheel tool/storage bin & put better wheels on it & pulled it for about 5 miles over different terrain,, worked pretty darn good & with plenty of room left over for "stuff" i might scavenge along the way..
Me old back & knee's thanked me.

I started out with a large bug out bag. Then, I had the get home bag on top of that. Freaked out and went to a full-blown INCH pack....which became incredibly impractical, having to huff it around to different vehicles, etc. Took up tons of space.
My injuries from the Marines got way worse, and now I have possible MS on top of that. I physically can't do large heavy packs anymore. Those days are long gone for me, and I ain't even 40 yet.
Now I have a minimalist "go bag" that is just bare essentials only to survive that I can easily move around and light enough to hike with comfortably if necessary.
Part of that minimalist system is a waterproofed, insulated ECWCS military style jacket, plus, a 2lb wool "patoo" (Afghanistan shawl/blanket) that comes with me and that bag all year round.

I appreciate the sacrifice for our country. I've heard of many Marines being damaged for life by the loads they carried. We stop moving...we die.

Nice pack. Something to consider would be soft armor to replace the pad. This would replace the purpose of the pad by giving you some rigidity but also adding some protection capabilities

I also think it might be important to carry "extras" on your person, just in case of robbery/unforseen circumstances etc. Essentially basic backups in case the bag has to go.🤔

Quick tip, the folding Bundeswehr iso mat fits in place of the back panel with the Bundeswehr ground sheet. It makes a great soft frame for this size pack.

Have a similar pack but mines in coyote tan and the foam at the back is sewn in. Had it for years, put in lots of miles with it, packs quite rectangular at the base. One word of warning, it's an unforgiving design on your back if you pack it even slightly wrong, the heavy items have to go right up against your back, preferably towards the top against your back, same with the canteen pouches, as close to your back as possible or you're in for a rough hike.

I like the "load lifter" hack. I stuff my bedroll pad inside there because it is bulky and impervious to water/dirt. So carrying it high keeps it as much out of the way as possible without interference with items inside the main pack area.

To pad the back of some backpacks I have, I also use a rigid material that I can replace with a tarp or metal grill for cooking over the fire.
Used to the time of the armed forces, I also use a lot of external pouches to contain some local emergency needs (a high visualization vest, a poncho, first aid, water and supplies for the same and one or another piece of clothing. Set between 25/30 pounds.

Depending on what circumstances are when SHTF, looking military/militant will make you a target. It may be better to have more docile appearing gear. Imagine a police state...resistance will be expected...and expected to be wear military / militant gear. Prepare for contingencies.

PREPPER BUGOUT BAG! When would you use a multi cam if your in a defensive bugout posture that bag would give you up. In a bugout using Situation Awareness that is not a good choice especialy if your walking around a third world country with that military style bag. In a bugout your main objective is to remain in as stealthy and move unseen. GRAYMAN so you wont get caught.
