Khalid Khan was such an integral part of hugely influential Pakistani rock bands that were the soundtracks to many growing up in the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s and has played sonorous basslines on so many iconic Pakistani rock classics. What an incredible bass player. By all accounts a really genuine, cool guy too.
An excellent podcast with Khalid Khan. I watched it straight through. *Thank you for giving him the complete space and canvas to express and articulate his music journey with such intellectual lucidity and erudite enthusiasm.* Three new takeaways for me: 1. Khalid Khan has been friends with Tanseer Daar (Arsh/Circle/Karavan) since he was 5/6 years old. They grew up together as neighbours. 2. He has played bass on a couple of Karavan songs. It must be from the Saara Jahaan album recording sessions. I have never ever been able to get my hands on the CD or cassette of the Saara Jahaan album. 3. He also explains why he kept uploading/deleting the video of his solo single *"Hai Nahin Teray Jaisa"* on UA-cam. I always wondered why he kept doing that. It all makes sense now.
One of the finest bass player from this land. What a diversified journey khalid khan you have with an immense contribution to the music industry of pakistan.loved your playing than, now and forever! Great show to watch!
What an incredible episode! Love Khalid Khan and his authenticity and vulnerability. I also love how well he can articulate and express himself. So much self awareness on his behalf its beautiful to see! Thank you 🙏
One thing I noticed every musician speaks highly of Aamir Zaki greatness. Another legend died and gone unnoticed, it’s the another failure of our nation.
Nothing but love and respect for what these guys are doing. There was a golden age of rock music a long time ago and I for one am ready for it to make its comeback.
From Circle to Aaroh, we had an eye on you Sir❤. The coolest thing was the LONG HAIR DUO (Faraz Bhai and Khalid bhai) totally a visual treat for the Rock/Metal Guitar lovers. Always wished their picture on the front cover page of The Guitar Magazine. The authentic Metal attitude faces of the 90s.
Amazing personality and a great Musician I am surprised to hear that he almost played with each and every band in Pakistan and the way he appreciates almost everyone he played with that's the sign of kind and wonderful artist No doubt Khalid Sir is a genious bassist Aleph Umair bhai Thanks
Great podcasts. Have heard full length ones for Aag, Faraz anwar, Babar sheikh, Shallum, Khalid khan.. its a great window into people I've been listening for many years but never met. Would definitely love it if you could have them jam for 10-15 minutes. Great job man. Thank you, sincerely.
Such a lovely personality.. I always wanted to listen Kalid bhis story. He has always been a quiet guy.. One thing throught the podcast MAINA KHA THK HA ❤😂 and never refused any band! Thankyou Umair Dar brother for bringing the unheard stories !
Bro i would like to thank you for inviting these legends in your podcast. Really all of my favourite guitarists of pakistan. Childhood memories. Thumbs up for you 👍. I miss Aamir Zaki. I wish he could come to your podcast. Rip Aamir.
Its lovely to hear this inspiring story of a musician who has worked with so many great bands singers and musicians who were the real architects of the golden era of pakistani pop and rock music from 90s. And its great to see khalid bhai still carrying on in his music career with the same passion as ever. I would like to know if there is any youtube channel of khalid khan where we can access all of his compositions.
Wish you do a series like this with underground unheard-of artists. You are doing wonderful thing. Matlab 50 saalon mein kisi ne itni zehmat nahi ke keh Khalid Khan ka 1 interview kr le. Thank you brother for doing this 🙏
My brother had a Collage cassette back in the day, 1998-99 perhaps? I was 6 7 at the time and loved the photos on it. Him and Faraz could easily fit in a black/death metal band by their looks and long hair. Love to see Khalid bhai still around and kickin! (Im 32 now!!)
Just finished it, really loved the calm and compure way of khalid talking, also this is becoming Pakistani version of "Captain Meets". You are doing a great work, letting guest talk and asking them questions at a right moment. Would love to see all musicians from old to new generation here
Umair. I must say you are a very good listener and for such soft spoken person it was needed. man our whole music journey, the band's, the artists we listened through out our lives this guy was around and part of all that music . and yet we never knew anything about it. I don't think any body has ever taken such an interview of him.. in this 2 hour show I didn't skipped a part infact few parts I went back some minutes to listen that part again.. a very much needed session. Maza aaya
Thank you so much brother that really means a lot! And yes, as a teenager I saw Khalid bhai so many times with so many bands and always wondered about his story - so it was a pleasure to be able to host him and have him share so openly with us!
Thank you for taking my question Umair and it was a very good interview of Khalid bhai and I used to see him at sunrise where my phuppo lives in and met him, this was in 2014 I believe. What a lovely guy and as a child watching him on TV since the days the music channels existed and also later on when the internet came lolz 😂 looking forward to more musicians coming on the podcast.
I really wanted to listen the other side of story about Aaroh, I have been a biggest fan of Pakistani music specially rock scene, I did music for sometimes but due to same reasons we couldn't continue, and then I left doing music, but I had 60GB+ data of Pakistani underground music and rock music, I knew everything by following stories, and that Nabeel said in his podcast was not correct, he told his side of story, but that makes me think that Aaroh mostly sound same in their 2nd album then how come this genre story can be true. but these fights and ego issues hurt Pakistani music alot and ultimately fans like us were hurt.
Thank you everyone 😊
A very interesting Sunday morning watch! If you watch nothing else today make it this.
I can't begin to tell you just how happy it makes me feel to FINALLY see Khalid Khan getting the credit he's been due, for so long now. Genius.
No one can deny him the credit for what he’s done but we’re happy and thankful to be able to finally hear his side of the story! 🙏🏼

I loved Collage’s album. Great musicianship.
Excellent Umair.... for a podcast with excellent bassist.👍❤
watching from Bangladesh
love this show
Thank you 🙏🏼❤
So exciting to hear a bass player talk about the music scene!! Excellent podcast
Loved the interview, Kahlid is such a great guy 😊
Khalid Bhai.
It has always suprised me why bass players seldom cite Paul McCartney (The Beatles) as an inspiraton or influence.
our national bass player 😅
Hahaha yes definitely feels like that
Lovely to see Khalid, remember I introduced with Khalid and faraz two long hairy guys who firstly seen in collage band
What a nostalgic podcast and what a guy Khalid ...always looked at him as an inspiration when he played in Mizraab and Aaroh

Interestingly, Khalid is a doppelganger of John Cusack 😀
Wish you do a series like this with underground unheard-of artists.
You are doing wonderful thing. Matlab 50 saalon mein kisi ne itni zehmat nahi ke keh Khalid Khan ka 1 interview kr le. Thank you brother for doing this 🙏

Please have these talented people play more in these sessions inbetween as it would add more value for the viewers.
Duly noted brother! Will definitely aim to do that 🙂
Bring everyone of that era. Shehzad Mughal, Tanseer Dar, Sameer Ahmad.
Just finished it, really loved the calm and compure way of khalid talking, also this is becoming Pakistani version of "Captain Meets". You are doing a great work, letting guest talk and asking them questions at a right moment. Would love to see all musicians from old to new generation here
