My dad is a boomer who hates Trump, but he doesn't use the internet so he doesn't see how the left-wing culture lies and treats Trump supporters. He even thinks Rittenhouse is guilty still. Really depressing that I can't have fun political conversations with my dad. Mainstream media really gave him a distorted view of America.
I initially became a conservative when in 2016 when Trump got elected. I probably always leaned that way but I was sure after Trump got elected. I wasn’t even big into politics but it disgusted me on how much different the media treated Trump and republicans compared to the left. The continually dehumanize conservatives to begin with. And with Trump they used to love him until he ran for President. And then suddenly overnight he got called every name in the book the last 8 years.
Mom has been dem her whole life and in her 80s is a bit limited on what information she can absorb outside of liberal news and daytime talk shows, so she automatically hated Trump. I never paid any attention to politics at all until Obama when the first articulate black man Joe had ever seen became president of the United States. It was historic by any standards and peaked my interest just a bit. It was from there on through Trump's first presidency that the differences in the two parties became blaringly evident to me. Not so much as I was hearing or seeing anything new or noteworthy from the right who kept to a pretty stable message, as it was a not so slow increase in volume from the left that rarely included anything positive and more and more often included horribly violent acts by mobs and insane individuals. Voted for Trump's second term the first time I voted in my life and will be waiting for the school to open for my vote this year.
