Happy Juneteenth! Don’t know what that is? (I’m not surprised, the American educational system doesn’t really mention it) Google is your friend! And before you leave a comment telling me, a black person, that saying “black music” is a stereotype, you’re wrong and I’ll tell you why! When I say “black music” I mean music that is heavily engrained in black culture and that a majority of black people will recognize even if they don’t actively listen to those songs. Every culture has music that’s more common to hear in that circle, (like at a party where they make up most of the guests) it isn’t a “stereotype”
It is really stupid considering that accent is based on where you live, there are black comedians that sound like they they grew up in Cali like snoop dogg, kevin hart, Lil Lycan but there are people who are black that grew up in England and they sound like a posh ol' wanker, I've talked to my japanese friend Mara( Fake name for security) she sounds like she grew up in Australia a real chipper old bird the kind of mate you hear roaring with laughter at the other side of the bar, and you look at your cu.nts and say "Damn that Hyena over there sounds like fun at a party, I'm going to invite her over for some Cobra on the grill, buy her a pair of thongs to wear." Sounds have no immediate relation to how you look, they are different senses.
To be fair, I would say "you're being very articulate" to a white guy just as much as I would to anyone of any colour or gender. By that, I usually (when not being ironic) mean that you're very good at selecting words and phrases to get your point across, more so than most people (male, female, other, select colour from rainbow that fits) that I've met, and I'm admiring of it, and wishing I could be as good at getting my point across without being excessively verbose, and extending sentences into paragraphs of explanation and extemporization. I've long understood that I'm unusual in my use of words, tho, as I find many people misunderstand what I mean when I say things. So... yeah. The world is a big place, and lots of different people use words differently. :-( I'm going to be watching how and when I use that phrase in the future.
I'm so happy that you commented on this because I'm black and a furry and I'm sick of tired of people saying that I can't be a furry just because I'm black yes I add Black Culture to my ocs I'm very happy that you commented on this thank you(sorry I had to edit this because of the autocorrect)
Maybe they think you should be green (with envy, like them)? Why should any colour (or shade, if you want to be technically correct about it) be restricted? :-( Go be you, and ignore the haters.
I’m a white furry but I don’t care what your race is, you can be a furry if you want. I absolutely hate racist people, it confuses me how people can hate someone just because there a different race, that’s like saying you hate someone cause they have a different hair color. It’s just stupid!
My poor gf got called out by her own family and they said she acted "white" just because she doesn't sound "black" It really ticked me off because she's really sweet.
This was very informative and helpful. As somebody who's disabled,I really hate it when somebody goes "Disabled? You don't look it!" It should be common knowledge that not all disabilities are visible. Sorry for the mini rant there.

I get that A LOT because my disability isn't physical too. Severe Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD cripple me often and it sucks ass. It's like...what, do I need to paint the handicap logo on me or somethin? Fuckin hell.
Yeah me either, I'm hispanic too and I didn't know that this happens a lot in the fandom since I go to conventions but didn't know something like this happens
The "you don't look like a furry" when a black person, woman etc. shows their face is so annoying. I've even gotten told "You're too pretty to be a furry" before...seriously? Are all furries just SUPPOSED to be ugly? (I'm white and female btw)
As a black female fursuiter, I too was surprised when I found out you were black. I was disappointed in myself, as even though I am black, when I think of furries, I think of white people. What a world we live in.
Same, but I've learned this cause most times other balck people j meet seem offended 😒 cause to them being a furry or alternative [etc] is a "white thing" Although I don't agree 🤷🏾♀️ is ig microagression within black community thag further marginalize a minority [I say this as an alternative furry who's African American.]
Dont worry. Its probably just a normal thing the brain automatically does. Making connections. "A lot of furries are white? This furry of unknown race is probably white." The brain likes putting things in boxes.
The first time I saw a SolarSaber's video in which her skin color was mentioned, I thought to myself "Hey, I didn't know she was black. I'm a little surprised. " I am having an existential crisis right now ^^'
Guys, I don't think Solar is trying to gaslight you. It's unhealthy to doubt yourself. What matters is what you do next now that you know this. I know you'll do your best about this stuff because you've already demonstrated you care. No need to sweat bullets.
@@funnykitsune Honestly, when I see any furries' faces for the first time I always think, "I didn't know they were ___," even if they are white (like, " Oh, their hair is dyed," or, "Oh they have blue eyes," etc.). It may come off as a little mean to some, but I never do it out of malice. It just always surprises me to see how different or similar they are to their own fursonas.
@@steelhammer3922 Thanks for the positivity, I needed that! :) in my "defense", I think it's mostly because I don't get to see different "races" (as in skin tones) in my country, most immigrants are white as I am, so it's probably because of that that I often assume everyone I interact with looks like that. I pride myself in thinking that I've never thought less of anyone because of what they look like, however, which I think it's what racism is really about.
'you don't sound black' I know how this is so annoying. I'm not black but trust me, there are people I know who are black and have so much better grama than me 😅🤣
Ikr??? Like dude how does one sound black?? That’s like saying. Actually I don’t know what that’s like saying it’s just so stupid??? ITS SO STUPID I CANNOT RELATE IT TO ANYTHING-
This is an amazing video. And even though I am a white woman, it really boils my blood whenever someone had said “oh you’re black?” Whenever you revealed your face-
I never thought you were white or black or whatever, i don't like associating voices to people's skin color. I had and have black friends and they never sounded like they were from "the hood" or similar, so when i hear anyone say stuff like "you don't sound black" my mind goes "what? Are they supposed to sound different?", always takes me a moment to realize what they mean. Good video!
Lol, i always do that subcontiously. A lot of the time i get suprised by youtubers race. I dont really think about it, so i also dont think to reason what they look like or what i know them to look like in real life and just assume uncontiously they are white, lol. And a male if i dont know the gender. I really dont give a shit. Its just a default my mind springs to. I think it wants to just slap traits of myself on the lack of knowledge on the traits of other people to get a better grasp of them as a character. The brain always wants to know things. And if it doesnt know, it gets uncomfortable and just makes shit up. Or its just me because i have autism.
Ok but I once had a man say that women can’t be furries and that I wasn’t a real furry and literally tried to gatekeep furries and I was just sitting there and it was so stupid
I was in a situation like that, I was on discord having a fight with a "gamer" bc he was saying that "black people can't be furries" and that "if you don't have a fursuit you can't be a furry" is so annoying
Wowwwwww I can’t believe someone had the audacity to say “You need to stop sounding white.” Like the heck! Just like you said just because you don’t use slangs or hood talk doesn’t mean ur trying to sound white 🙄😤 That’s is straight up RUDE I’m sorry you have had these comments it’s not right or nice! But Anyways have a great day!
Its crazy cause I've got friends who are like that too. For some reason to them I sound white on the mic (party chat) sometimes just because I'm an expressive guy. So you mean to tell me a black guy can't be expressive? I don't know if they were just joking or what, but I found that really annoying.
Thank you so much for speaking up about this! I have plenty of friends who are too scared that they will be called “aggressive”,”toxic”, or any other rude words for opening up about how they have experienced racism in the fandom
Just had a really good friend in the fandom come forward to me and acknowledge and apologize for the microaggresions he’s put forth in the past, all because of this video. I’m really happy this was made and it’s super important at a time like this. Thank you!
I think the first one 'you don't look like a furry' is actually referring to people thinking all furries are incels or look like neckbeards, not that they all look white.
The horrible truth is that there will always be some sort of hate towards a certain group of people and just hope that someday most people can just get along and learn to avoid rude behavior such as racism and sexism since it will always exist in some sort of way.
You know, I know even though I’m not black, the things that mentioned like “you don’t sound black”, really touched me. Because as a Latino, it’s exactly what I’ve been through, but I will truly never understand the struggles of being a black. Amazing vid SolarSaber!
I am mixed and it's seriously just a battle between one or the other. It's either, "You don't sound this," or, "You don't sound that." Then there's, "You don't look that. I don't believe you/are you sure." Then there's the all too often issue of if I am around a race I am mixed with they will often demand for me to, "sound like them." I honestly don't feel accepted by anyone most of the time, and I'll admit that this fandom gives me the opportunity to just hide that.
yeah same, as a spanish furry I had so much comments like "you don't sound as a spanish person!" "you are joking! you are NOT spanish" or I even had hate comments for being spanish
@@parker-jet the irony in this comment is that once I corrected someone who was learning Spanish (politely though) and then someone said oh shut up u don't even speak that well either , but then I responded with i am Latino and i fluently speak Spanish so bish shut the f up.
Sophia Smith all lives matter but right now people need to realize that black lives are in danger. Don’t say all lives matter in these times because it’s a little insensitive.
bruh, i hate when people say "but you don't look/sound/seem " like wtf? why do people think 1 part of my being controls my entire person? no one "sounds black," everyone has vocal cords and everyone vocal cords are made different, don't expect anyone to sound a certain way. all of these things are stupid, stop judging people based on things they cannot control.
I don't mind electro music, but at conventions there needs to be a bit of diversity within music because not everyone wants to dance to electro, some like R&B and Hip Hop. Note: I haven't been to a convention but I see a lot of furry rave videos and notice that too.
Honestly commenting on this late but I fully agree, I tried to start doing more voice calls to socialize and get used to talking to people/make more furry friends during quarantine. As an honors English student and writing advocate I've always talked in a certain way and never really use slang unless I'm making a dumb joke with friends. Once I took a photo of my hand over some art to prove it was mine and I got racist comments like, "you dont/never sounded black. I thought you were white" or "you dont talk like a black person or you know...just how a lot of black people sound" and I would just sit there. It hurts Honestly especially as a black minor, it genuinely crushes me when people keep trying to bring that up as if its some sort of justification and ill just be like "I understand what your trying to day, but its still wrong". It happens a lot to when im calling new people or clients. I honestly wish there wasn't this stupid stereotype of how black people should act or sound. ;;
I’m really glad to see furries getting political and talking about racism-being ignorant of politics has always come across as being ignorant of social injustice imo... I’m really happy you mentioned the “all furries love techno/electro” stereotype too!! R&B is great!
I personally agree with your problems in this video because I am also black and it gets really annoying when these assumers start spreading, I also have problems with the fact on how I sound to ^^' but I hope I get over these problems soon.
The one thing we need to understand in our fandom, is that there's different type of people who join our fandom. I am a black female young furry, I exist, we all exist. This fandom is filled with people like young furs, Grey muzzles , black ,white, and many other characteristics that make humanity diverse, we must accept them too. And like Venus said, most of the time Electro music is played at furry raves. But we never experience diverse music at conventions. There needs to be more of that, because not everyone wants to hear Electro Music all the time and I like Electro Music too. But maybe people want to hear Hip Hop or R&B. It also gives others who don't hear this type of music often, an opportunity to know that people like other types of music as well. I haven't been to a convention but I've seen some rave convention videos and find that too.
i hate that i still initially had this "oh! :O" reaction for a second when you did one unboxing video, that was the first time i saw you, the person behind the channel. i am glad i NEVER ever reacted like that out loud and now that i absolutely know better i will do everything in my power to make black people and other poc feel comfortable around me. and people who are racist WILL be uncomfortable around me, this is a threat
@@RJLiams what do i call them then "people of colour" was literally the only term i ever saw anyone use who was supportive or was even part of that group of people.
I get the "stop sounding like a Brit, you live on america!" First off, I'm Irish, second, I can sound like a *person* if I want to???? Doesn't make a difference where I live.
Dude it brings me so much joy to see some fellow black people in the fandom! I’ve always known like statistically there’d be plenty but I’ve always felt kind of alone. It’s great to have you here ❤️
This is a very important topic that needed to be covered!Thank you! Personally,I haven’t experienced micro aggression in the furry fandom but people around me were racist irl. They have learned tho and I experience racism much less
Im so glad you addressed this, i feel like the furry fandom has kinda been ignoring racism and sexism in the fandom a lot because of popufurs like sparkycando saying really homophobic/racist things and people just ignoring it because she makes good fursuits, i think its something that should be adressed more and furries should stop ignoring the racism in the fandom just because someones a good artist or because its not an adorable cute furry thing to post.
First I wanna say, this video is awesome and its awesome that you getta talk about something you've been wanting to talk about for a while like this! Racism is sadly in every fandom and it sucks, especially in things like the cosplay fandom (like yikes, the shit some racists people say to black cosplayer is heartbreakingly horrible) remember that, if you hear someone say something racist to a cosplay, fursuiter etc. (Or says something racist in general) Call them out for it! Everyone deserves to feel safe and have fun at a con or even just in general. Its not fair that those asshole get away with it because you "dont wanna get political" -3- Its not political and shouldn't be, its learning to be a descent freakin human being
Thank you for making this video! Hopefully more people can become aware of this behavior in the fandom. We are all people! And the whole articulate speaking thing... I don't understand why people would even say that!!!
4:38 is an example is that I also don't like the stereotypical music furries are listening and what music furry cons are playing (e.g. EDM, techno and dubstep)! I'm a metalhead! I almost exclusively listen only to rock, punk and metal music. I have never seen a furry related video on UA-cam with rock or metal music. And I want to change that! If I'm going to be someone notable in this fandom, I want to be known as the furry who listens to metal! I agree with you that we definitely need more diversity in music in the furry fandom!
Another one i've heard is "your fursona looks white" like bro it an animal it can be any color. a person of color can have a light fursona like what is wrong with people??? Also i think you're very pretty
aww your so pretty!! (not in a creepy way) i love your hair!!! also, now that Iyou have made this video, ive realized how racist ive probably been to people while trying to be nice. thank you
Nope our brains are not hardwired to be insensitive in this way! These behaviors are learned from your parents or society in general. They are taught behaviors, and can be unlearned -sincerely, a psychology major
Ugh, I wish this crap didn’t run into the fandom. I haven’t experienced this bc I’m white, but what the actual hecc? I just can’t understand why someone would say stuff like that, directly to someone’s face on top of just how bad it feels to even hear someone say that sort of thing.
ahh yes this is such a good video!! as a black furry artist , since my art style / way i speak is deemed as "cute" most people expect me to look like a blond blue eyed white girl . . .
I wish the fandom was the happy place everyone says it is. It’s like there’s a mask of happy cute animals, and then underneath is toxicity and ugliness
thank you! i didn't ever notice it but yeah now that you point it out, it does seem like i subconciously see white as the furry norm! so glad you actually pointed that out cuz i doubt i would have come across that just- somewhere else! or atleast in a long while, is there any way tough to train your mind to not think that way tough? well- i know there most likely is but any easy ways you (or anyone reading this) can say? i have memory problems and my brain is just full of funk- so learning new things or new ways to think is a bit slow for me!
Thank you for helping me be more confident of being a furry, you have helped me to realize that anyone can be a furry no matter what race you are, even thought I’m white I just wanted to thank you for being the best furry I’ve ever seen.
I feel the whole "Oh you don't sound black/oh you speak so clearly for a black girl!" like, yes? I do? Because I grew up some place other than the hood. Your dialect is all about where you grew up or who you grew up around.
bruhhh THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO i've done the "you're black" thing in my mind sometimes, but it just makes me so happy to know that i'm not the only black furry in certain circles. it's a microagression i need to kick myself out of, but now that we're seeing more black creators raising their voices, i finally feel included in the fandom and that makes me really happy 😊 and to all the white furries reading this comment, LISTEN TO US. don't try and speak up for us, or use "well i have a black friend and-". if we say something, then LISTEN. i'm tired of being spoken over, just sit down and listen to what we have to say.
Solarsaber, thank you so much for posting this video. Some of the situations you've talked about in this video I have found myself doing to some of my closest and dearest friends in the past. I found myself at first confused and shocked at the fact that these things I've done were deemed microaggressions, such as the, "oh you don't sound black," or the, "oh, I didn't know you were black." I just want you to know, as I have let all of them know, that I am truly sorry and that I am incredibly disappointed in myself. I hope to do better in the future, as this video really opened my eyes into just how badly racism is ingrained into our culture and minds and how I as an individual can help stop events likes these from happening in the future. I now feel better equipped to be able to realize when another member of our community makes the same mistakes that I have, so that I may properly correct their behaviors as well. Thank you
I would LOVE to hear some 90s hip hop and classic R&B at a con someday 😩 I actually subbed to you because you're black. As a black furry, it's kinda hard to find others like us lol.
I've actually seen the opposite too, with the articulation. With Cartoonz, you can find the occasional comment on his video's saying "you're white"? Because he has a "black voice". :/ bruh... People in his comments were quick to point out that saying something like that is rude in more ways than 1. Because they assume that that type of accent is all encompassing to only black people. (Is it counted as an accent? I'm not sure). I think I commented this on another video before. On microaggressions.
Hey there, amazing video. You've covered this way better than anyone I've seen to this date. Often times the conversation comes off as super condescending and repels a lot of would be listeners. You managed to handle this with great respect for both parties, and i feel I've walked away with a better understanding of the situation. Keep up the good work! Going to check out the rest of your channel now.
As a Hawaiian/mix and a really new furry (also I’m still just 11 so not al lot of experiences) I had no idea how common this was in the furry community, thank you for sharing this!
For what it's worth, I personally think you're really pretty! But I don't understand how the "for a black girl" is supposed to make it seem like it's impressive. As a half black girl myself (but a little on the darker side) hearing that is like being told, "I think most black girls are ugly, so you're attractiveness surprises me." THAT IS NOT IN ANYWAY A COMPLIMENT.
This isnt the most important comment to make on a video like this (I found it after a recent twitter post you made linking someone to it on your unboxing video. Im really glad I had the chance to see it!) But can I just say how fucking ready I am to get some god damn fresh music into events? I know I'm not the only person who thinks this either- including convention staff. Lets get some black DJ's in the mix, god knows we could use an infusion of something new to mix up the 3000 dubstep and electronic beat mixes I hear. Hip Hop or R&B might not be everyone's flavor but neither is what's currently playing and it would be nice to see some fresh faces in the booths and on the dance floor.
I'm a bit late to comment, but I'm super glad you made this video. Because as much as I hate to admit it, I'm guilty of some of these. I've been trying to be more mindful of others and how I think/speak towards them, and now I'm gonna double down on that. The sad part is, it hadn't even occurred to me that these comments could be racist/sexist! I'd like to apologize on behalf of everyone who has made a comment like this and I'm going to work even harder on correcting my behavior. Even though I do come from a small town where mostly everyone is white, I shouldn't have let that change the way I think. In fact, I feel even worse about it for not keeping an open mind in spite of that. Again, I'm so so so sorry for anyway who has gone through such interactions in the furry fandom and just in general. I'm gonna work on that myself, and even try to encourage others to be more open minded as well.
The first time I saw you were black, I wrote something like: "Cool a black Furry" So I apologize for this, it was not meant to be racist or anything, I was just wondering.
DUDE, thank you for talking about this stuff, I'm black too and microagressions are the worst because it's blatant to black people but not to those who push said microagressions.
"you don't sound black" What? Who even is at that low of a level to ask that? It's.. what.. I'm losing brain cells just trying to think of a possible argument that would make someone saying that valid. Jeez..
hi! I'm early! if you see this comment, I know its going too get lost in the comments but... I hope you have a fantastic year! No matter what you look like!
It doesn’t matter the race, gender, culture, or beliefs, all people should be accepted for who they are. Even if they’re furries or not! Let’s all just be nice to each other at such I rough time!
But I think one of the major problems at furry conventions in The Untied States Of America is that the music is not really diverse in different languages as other countries furry conventions are. But I believe if we play a few songs in different languages this will make the American furry community more diverse and please furry from other countries. Because furriers in Europe gets really annoyed at how Americans force the English language on them and how Americans expect Europeans furry to speak English. So by playing different music in different languages this will show our appreciation for there culture. This will also help put at ease nervous furrys from other countries that don't speak English or that are homesick. In tune making American furry conventions more diverse and unique.
I don’t care about ones race, I just care about their personality only. Never judge ones looks! Never judge a book by its cover, judge what’s inside the book!!
I actually really want to go to these black/poc safe space furry parties, because they sound so amazing! everyone would be so different and the music would be so unique. it would be such a fresh breath of air, even if I am not a person of color!
ooh my god THIS. Just in outtings I've done with my college furry club I've watched so many people make assumptions about the sex, gender, and race of everyone in my club. In a cute little dance video we made where some members were in suit and some out of suit we got comments like "of course the one black guy who isn't a furry is the only one who can dance." 1. there's like 4 other black people in this video they're just in fursuit. 2. this man absolutely IS a furry, and one of the top fursuit dancers, he just isn't in suit. another time we were at an even suiting for kids and this couple comes up to me (I'm in a partial) and the husband says "Wow, I didn't think women would dress up like this!" and I?? don't know how to respond at all. Like what does that mean? so I just said "... yeah? like half the club is women?" and he was so shocked. Still no idea what he was getting at. THE MUSIC THING IS SO TRUE.

The "you don't look like a furry" when a black person, woman etc. shows their face is so annoying. I've even gotten told "You're too pretty to be a furry" before...seriously? Are all furries just SUPPOSED to be ugly? (I'm white and female btw)
I’m Mexican and female and ya like am I supposed to look ugly
thats what im saying
I think it’s also because people stereotype furries with fat white male gamers?

@@Kikiinator Yeah probably
Your voice is really soothing tbh. You'd make a good VA!
As a black female fursuiter, I too was surprised when I found out you were black. I was disappointed in myself, as even though I am black, when I think of furries, I think of white people. What a world we live in.
Same, but I've learned this cause most times other balck people j meet seem offended 😒 cause to them being a furry or alternative [etc] is a "white thing"
Although I don't agree 🤷🏾♀️ is ig microagression within black community thag further marginalize a minority
[I say this as an alternative furry who's African American.]
I am also a black female furry.

Dont worry. Its probably just a normal thing the brain automatically does. Making connections.
"A lot of furries are white? This furry of unknown race is probably white." The brain likes putting things in boxes.
Same! I guess it's just a stereotype most people think of and I'm also very disappointed that I would think something like that.
Sigh I don’t understand why people still do s*** like racism and sexism even in the furry fandom. Thx for bringing this problem to my attention.
**Second-guesses myself on whether I have accidentally been microaggressive**
The first time I saw a SolarSaber's video in which her skin color was mentioned, I thought to myself "Hey, I didn't know she was black. I'm a little surprised. "
I am having an existential crisis right now ^^'
@@funnykitsune tbh that's exactly what I thought and I immediately got chills

This is an amazing video.
And even though I am a white woman, it really boils my blood whenever someone had said “oh you’re black?” Whenever you revealed your face-
Mystique Melodies exactly.
Panda3610 perrfect example, and you don’t know how much I can relate to that.

“You don’t sound black”
I. Hate. This. The one time I had someone say this to me, *they were blaaack*
Most people picture incels to be- white,,,,
You're legit my favorite furry UA-camr!
I just treat everyone equally regardless of race etc. In the general sense I just want to treat everyone equally
The horrible truth is that there will always be some sort of hate towards a certain group of people and just hope that someday most people can just get along and learn to avoid rude behavior such as racism and sexism since it will always exist in some sort of way.
What I’m trying to say is that there’s always going to be hate and we need to work together to prevent as much of it as possible.
You know, I know even though I’m not black, the things that mentioned like “you don’t sound black”, really touched me. Because as a Latino, it’s exactly what I’ve been through, but I will truly never understand the struggles of being a black. Amazing vid SolarSaber!
Latino people definitely get that one as well, I’m sorry that happened to you
I am mixed and it's seriously just a battle between one or the other. It's either, "You don't sound this," or, "You don't sound that."
Then there's, "You don't look that. I don't believe you/are you sure."
Then there's the all too often issue of if I am around a race I am mixed with they will often demand for me to, "sound like them." I honestly don't feel accepted by anyone most of the time, and I'll admit that this fandom gives me the opportunity to just hide that.
yeah same, as a spanish furry I had so much comments like "you don't sound as a spanish person!" "you are joking! you are NOT spanish" or I even had hate comments for being spanish
@@parker-jet the irony in this comment is that once I corrected someone who was learning Spanish (politely though) and then someone said oh shut up u don't even speak that well either , but then I responded with i am Latino and i fluently speak Spanish so bish shut the f up.

About the music thing, I feel like conventions need more and better music in general.
I don't mind electro music, but at conventions there needs to be a bit of diversity within music because not everyone wants to dance to electro, some like R&B and Hip Hop.
Note: I haven't been to a convention but I see a lot of furry rave videos and notice that too.
Honestly commenting on this late but I fully agree, I tried to start doing more voice calls to socialize and get used to talking to people/make more furry friends during quarantine. As an honors English student and writing advocate I've always talked in a certain way and never really use slang unless I'm making a dumb joke with friends. Once I took a photo of my hand over some art to prove it was mine and I got racist comments like, "you dont/never sounded black. I thought you were white" or "you dont talk like a black person or you know...just how a lot of black people sound" and I would just sit there. It hurts Honestly especially as a black minor, it genuinely crushes me when people keep trying to bring that up as if its some sort of justification and ill just be like "I understand what your trying to day, but its still wrong". It happens a lot to when im calling new people or clients. I honestly wish there wasn't this stupid stereotype of how black people should act or sound. ;;
If I was a dj at a convention I would play all sorts of music
I’m really glad to see furries getting political and talking about racism-being ignorant of politics has always come across as being ignorant of social injustice imo... I’m really happy you mentioned the “all furries love techno/electro” stereotype too!! R&B is great!
I relate to this way too much :') Thank you for bringing awareness!
"You don't look like a furry."
Is this an insult or a compliment...? xD
She doesnt look like a furry. She doesnt have a tail or ears or fur or a maw or paws. She looks like a human.

Personally,I haven’t experienced micro aggression in the furry fandom but people around me were racist irl.
They have learned tho and I experience racism much less
Im so glad you addressed this, i feel like the furry fandom has kinda been ignoring racism and sexism in the fandom a lot because of popufurs like sparkycando saying really homophobic/racist things and people just ignoring it because she makes good fursuits, i think its something that should be adressed more and furries should stop ignoring the racism in the fandom just because someones a good artist or because its not an adorable cute furry thing to post.
why cant we all just have common sense :(
First I wanna say, this video is awesome and its awesome that you getta talk about something you've been wanting to talk about for a while like this!
Its not fair that those asshole get away with it because you "dont wanna get political" -3-
Its not political and shouldn't be, its learning to be a descent freakin human being
Thank you for making this video!
Thank you for speaking up about this! I love seeing furries that look like me 💕💞💕💞
Another one i've heard is "your fursona looks white" like bro it an animal it can be any color. a person of color can have a light fursona like what is wrong with people??? Also i think you're very pretty
aww your so pretty!! (not in a creepy way) i love your hair!!!
also, now that Iyou have made this video, ive realized how racist ive probably been to people while trying to be nice. thank you

Ugh, I wish this crap didn’t run into the fandom. I haven’t experienced this bc I’m white, but what the actual hecc? I just can’t understand why someone would say stuff like that, directly to someone’s face on top of just how bad it feels to even hear someone say that sort of thing.
ahh yes this is such a good video!!
as a black furry artist ,
since my art style / way i speak is deemed as "cute" most people expect me to look like a blond blue eyed white girl . . .
Dang I'd actually like to hear some R&B or Hip-Hop at a convention. I like The Weeknd a lot, and his music would fit in just fine at a con.
I wish the fandom was the happy place everyone says it is. It’s like there’s a mask of happy cute animals, and then underneath is toxicity and ugliness
thank you! i didn't ever notice it but yeah now that you point it out, it does seem like i subconciously see white as the furry norm! so glad you actually pointed that out cuz i doubt i would have come across that just- somewhere else! or atleast in a long while, is there any way tough to train your mind to not think that way tough? well- i know there most likely is but any easy ways you (or anyone reading this) can say? i have memory problems and my brain is just full of funk- so learning new things or new ways to think is a bit slow for me!

i've done the "you're black" thing in my mind sometimes, but it just makes me so happy to know that i'm not the only black furry in certain circles. it's a microagression i need to kick myself out of, but now that we're seeing more black creators raising their voices, i finally feel included in the fandom and that makes me really happy 😊
and to all the white furries reading this comment, LISTEN TO US. don't try and speak up for us, or use "well i have a black friend and-". if we say something, then LISTEN. i'm tired of being spoken over, just sit down and listen to what we have to say.
I didn’t know this was happening in the furry fandom
As a young BLACK furry..i understand this
This is definitely a video with a very important message. I hope it will help a lot of people
You're so pretty for a black girl isn't even a microaggression anymore, it's just plain racism
Thank you
I would LOVE to hear some 90s hip hop and classic R&B at a con someday 😩
I actually subbed to you because you're black.
I never really think of what furries look like, I just think of them as their fursona :)
I don’t understand why racism is even thing our ancestors were strange
@ima random person yup
This is rather informational and also I like your vids keep up the great work :3

Micro agression against furries with Autism anyone?
This is so good and I agree with everything cops are doing is just what the hell
The first time I saw you were black, I wrote something like: "Cool a black Furry"
So I apologize for this, it was not meant to be racist or anything, I was just wondering.
Jeez..
Thank you, I've been told that I sound white before and I didn't know how to explain it to them. You put what I was trying to say into words.

Even if they’re furries or not! Let’s all just be nice to each other at such I rough time!
A ton of people have said to me I didn’t know you were Asian or I didn’t know you were Mexican and it makes me very angry now
But I think one of the major problems at furry conventions in The Untied States Of America is that the music is not really diverse in different languages as other countries furry conventions are.

I really wish there were more diversity in some furry places, because that's what makes it fun and exciting!
Solarsaber, you are super beautiful as your furry and as a person
ooh my god THIS.
