0:09 “I know Sue, she’s not that great and you know her husband is in a wheelchair, right?” Man Phyllis became a nasty character throughout the series.
She always has been, we just didn’t see her enough at the beginning to appreciate it. It’s why she’s funny. She looks and talks like the sweetest grandma/aunt you’ve ever seen, but she is so cold that it’s jarring.
While watching the series, the true personality of Phyllis gets "diluted" a lot on the day to day (mostly hidden or eclipsed by Angela's bullying towards her or even her soft-spoken voice), but truly analizing it, she is one of the most unpleasent characters in the whole series. She has some shady and straight up rude moves thought out; which in other characters may be balanced out with funny bits or some sort of comedy; but in her case, is not there
It's interesting because sometimes Phyllis feels like the soft-spoken sweet older woman who would ocasionally say some of the most out of pocket things in the show, and sometimes feels like a genuinely horrible person who just pretended to be nice. It was like the writers couldn't choose
Smiling about Bob beating guys up due to her intentionally and repeatedly setting up the situation sure seems mean. Also, feeling compelled to mention that someone has a husband in a wheelchair is well beyond just being judgemental.
There's a deleted scene of Oscar asking about Bob's grand jury indictment, where then Phyllis said none of the juries showed up or something. Definitely suspicious😅
It's definitely jarring to revisit in a compilation 20 years after it first aired. I only really remembered her being a victim of Michael and others' antics.
@@coupdeforce Exactly. She's really just a regular office lady. She's kind, but she does let people know when they're crossing lines, though, like Pam.
6:24 Phyllis: You should order the most expensive on the menu so he knows you’re worth it Stanley: You’re gonna have to put out Pam’s expressions here 😂
“When a new client calls you just have to randomly assign them to a sales person, you can’t base who gets new clients on who you’re sleeping with that week” with a smile on her face 😂😂😂
The reason why I think most fans don’t hate Phylis is because of how broken up these things occurred. When compiled she becomes a monster, but when split apart she seems like just another wacky character
I never realized Phyllis was like that! They only have such small parts of her acting like a bit of a nympho and mean so she never seems truly weird. Till now.
Because they work with people that are incredibly immature and childish. That wears on you overtime combined with real life outside the office problems. In the early seasons they weren't this bad but got snappier later on after dealing with this for years.
When you realize everything is a game anyway it’s more fun to be mean! The Phillis character realizes that and apparently enjoys being sadistic. I love it!
I’ve heard that some people who work in clothing, hate it when people want the same outfit as the mannequins. So what’s the point in the mannequins then?
I never liked Phyllis while watching the Office for the first time and seeing this compilation made me realize that she was actually a horrible person unlike other people who had humor or charisma to make audience like them there was nothing to Phyllis
Bob Vance in the regular episodes: “Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration” Bob Vance in the superfan episodes: Not only a pervert but involved in organized crime and possibly a philanderer.
I usually only watch Seasons 2 & 3 (the great seasons), so I forgot how they basically turned Phyllis into a more extreme version of Angela. It doesn't really work in my opinion. It was a much better formula when you had normal characters and outrageous characters. In the later seasons, every character on the show was outrageous. And in the good seasons, the outrageous characters still felt like real people, whereas they felt like cartoons in the later seasons. And the writers clearly lost their way in other ways, such as bringing in new and ridiculous characters, having story arcs that go nowhere or get completely reversed, etc.
I watched this series a LOT and I don't remember Phyllis being that much of a wild card. Not at all really. If someone was going to say something inappropriate it was usually Meredith, not Phyllis.
Why are so many people clutching their pearls about Phyllis after seeing this? She was very nice overall and put up with a lot, but she didn't want to be mistreated. A lot of the clips are of her basically making pointed comments about unfair workplace treatment (especially those directed at Pam). Like most office ladies, she sees and hears a lot, so she has a lot of opinions, but many of those were shared in the private camera moments, so she kept them to herself with the others. She's a caricature of a typical office lady, but she's very likeable.
There are professional ways to communicate and disrespectful and she was disrespectful.. you notice that nobody goes to corporate?? There's no way you can tell me that anything she said was appropriate😭😭.. like how are you mad because somebody's allergic to your perfume?? How are you mad because somebody's wearing the same shirt as you?? How are you mad because you're not allowed to take two hour lunches and then threatening your manager because he notices it?? I could say in some cases like when she asked Pam to stop sending everybody to Jim made a lot of sense, but not all
it's because they're misogynists lol it's not deep. no male character gets hate for being as comedically ridiculous/doing things which are inconsiderate or technically illegal. people find a million justifications ex post facto but the immediate knee jerk venom of it all is just misogyny lmao
omg y’all over analyzing Phyllis and bashing her like other characters didn’t do horrible things it’s embarrasing lmao. It’s a comedy, take it or leave it. She’s fcking funny and savage lmao and there are worst characters on the series. It’s not real dude some of y’all take the characters personally

I read a theory that Bob Vance is secretly a mobster / mob boss and some of these clips kind of reinforce that idea 😅
I would say connected he not ITALIAN so he can never be MADE but he can be and associate THE FAMILY HAS ALOT OF BUFFERS!🤌🇮🇹🇺🇸

Phyllis brings the best shade on this show. Total savage!
Phyllis is actually a freaky old lady. 😂😂 the scene with her and bob in the restroom. She’s definitely not a favorite. My favorite is 100% Creed!
