    I love the way the solid part of the bed base folds over to make the base of a cargo area.

    There’s no amount of videos you could ever put out that’d be enough to satisfy watching you work. I already couldn’t wait for what’s next as soon as I started watching this!

    Love it! The Gloria Tells song fits the mood of freedom/camping very well! Looks like you figured out the lighting situation in the shop as well!

    The elegant simplicity of this build is just vantastic!
    I can see you going around Europe doing all the Maker/Craft events and saving a huge pile of money not paying for hotels, aside from the odd trip out into the countryside just to get out of the city. Beautifully done!

    That's a very clever design Laura. Your van makes me think of when I was just out of high school. I wanted to move out of my parents home so badly and all I really wanted was a cargo van to live in.

    Looking forward to the rest of the series! Definitely going to borrow some ideas for my own camper van. The bed already is a much more elegant design than the slide-out frames I usually see; and those don't even work for cargo. Clever!

    We don't have a camper but when we've been camping before we've had to put the dog in the car first and then pack the car all around her ensuring that she can get out easily enough for a toilet break! We have two dogs now and haven't taken the other one camping yet but we'll have to find someway to squeeze him in too! Maybe I'll just leave my husband out to make some room ;)

    I like how you can still use it as a van when needed.

  • @jmakes3745

    Really, really clever and inventive use of form and multi-functionality Laura, shows how effective a good design can be at utilising space efficient & effectively! One thing I think that would make it even better is if you had the left hand side section which protrudes outwards on some sort of removable fixing. That way you could spin it in front of you to make a table, whilst also having the full width of the couch to sit on!

    This is a miniseries about me converting my van into a camper.
    But i need to be able to still transport things so everything has to be very functional and removable...also i didn´t want to spend too much time and money on this build. so here is the first episode. my solution for the bed and a couch. hope you enjoyed the video!

    • @p_mouse8676
      @p_mouse8676 6 років тому

      Laura Kampf . I don't know how it works in Germany but in NL you can register your van as a camper, which saves an awful lot in tax money. Maybe something to look into as well?

    • @magicnik8881
      @magicnik8881 6 років тому

      @ Piet: In general that would work in Germany, too, if you meet some requirements, such as cooker, bed, table and storage space. But, and that´s the crucial point, it has to be a solution, that is mounted permanent into the car.

    • @RubenLensvelt
      @RubenLensvelt 6 років тому

      I suspect Laura has her van as a corporate vehicle with the low tax in that way. I can see the wall in between the cargo hold and the cabin which is one of the requirements for that type of registration.
      In my case; I need 40 more cm of space in the back of my corporate registered Doblo to be able to sleep in it. So maybe for me if I register it as a camper. Then I can remove that wall so I can expand the bed into the cabin.

    PS zu einem begeisterten 1. Kommentar: Es ist laaaaaaaange her - und ich kann mich gar nicht konkret erinnern - das ich ein "Bastel"video am Stück gesehen habe ohne vorzuspulen, weil es mir um Imput geht und nicht um Unterhaltung oder Zeitverschwendung. Du bietest nach meinem Geschmack im pos. Sinne Druckbetankung für mein Hirn und das mit einer sehr schönen/angenehmen Atmosphäre = unterhaltend. Super!!! Und ich bin kein Singlemann, der sich in die Darstellerin verliebt hat. ;-)
