3:334:13 here. The dumbest, most unnecessary change in Stone Ocean’s anime, that also breaks the logic of the fight and ruins the cool factor. Don’t see it? In the manga, when foo fighters opens the elevator and passes the ball, Jolyne needs to unravel it so it can fit between the wall and through the elevator grates. She does this MID AIR. It’s so sick. But in the anime, she just grabs the ball, no problem? Okay, that’s a stupid change that makes the scene less cool but whatever. But THEN, she unravels the ball later? WHAT? Seriously, what reason in the anime would she have to unravel the ball in the second instance, it was already established that the ball fits through the elevator grates fine! This does literally nothing! Why is it here? Because they decided to shuffle the order of this scene around, with no regard for logic or continuity. If this seems minor, that’s the point. This change neuters the climax of this fight, the difference between this and the manga version is night and day. This change turns an awesome moment into something that’s just stupid, pointless, and confusing. Ridiculously stupid change, I can’t think of a single reason why they would do this. It doesn’t even save on animation since she unravels the ball later but with zero reason to do so.
I have never liked Jojos' anime adaptations because they have very cheap and low-quality animations and on top of that, being "faithful" to the material not only leave the worst araki forgots and inconsistencies but also seem to blatantly copy the manga to save animation
@@mmmmmmmmm95 I agree that when the anime does nothing more but adapt still panels, that it fails as an adaptation. I believe the best Jojo animations come from them going beyond the still panels and really grtting creative with the material. I felt that passion up until part 5. And while Part 6 has some quality sections in the anime, it is consistently inconsistent and off-model most of the time. The quality of the manga’s art was so high at that point, it’s like David Pro felt they could rely on the source material. In doing so, they made the stiffest, and lifeless Jojo’s adaptation. It never felt like it was the story they wanted to make, which is frustrating when a large amount of the fan base see it as a part they didn’t want to engage with to begin with. Watch any Golden Wind episode, any of them, and compare it to any Stone Ocean episode. There’s just no comparison, it’s sad honestly.
That's why I'm very fond of the 90's OVA , although they omitted many arcs when they adapted key moments like Kakyoin's fight or Jotaru's final fight, the quality of the chorus is spectacular, new elements in the fights, the fluidity, stone ocean like steel ball run I always wanted its animation to be more experimental and without depending on "tracing" to the manga and have a more unusual animation like the works of Peter Chung in Aeon Flux @@EditUnivers75
Something that I HATE a lot about the adaptation of the yo yo ma arc is that when you looked at the mangas at the mutilation scenes of the poor stand, one imagined that when animating him he would have very narrow or cartoonish sequences when he regenerated like Majin Boo in Dragon Ball Z or Coyote in Loonatics, that is, when Yoyoma was torn apart, he regenerated as if he were a stop motion plasticine doll, but since the anime is mediocre and has poor animation quality, they don't even make an effort to animate his reconstruction of his body, it's like skipping one scene to another. @@EditUnivers75

David Productions allocated its best animators to Fire Force at the time, and hired one of the most infamous directors in anime to lead the project. It was a disaster before it even began. Everything just feels so clunky, like a semi-animated slideshow. Jojo always had stills, but even the still shots are off-model here. And while the adaptation does show some glimpses of good animation, a hint of stylistic direction at times, it very quickly nosedives in the other direction to compensate. It’s really disappointing, there’s just so much missed potential. When it’s good, it’s great for a moment! But it never seems to maintain that momentum for long. Did they really have to fumble this hard at the end of the OG universe? I love the source material, but certain adjustments need to be made to take advantage of the animated medium. Rarely ever does it feel like it matches the original manga in terms of quality, just copying the original panel but worse and with very little or stiff movement. feel like they’re going to go all in on Steel Ball Run, which is only going to illustrate more how much they didn’t care about Part 6.
