    This topic comes up A LOT! While I can't say how you can tell every time of stick is fake... here is a thread that shows a real Bauer Nexus Sync and a fake one... so go check that out:
    www.reddit.com/r/hockeyplayers/comments/11dinj9/anyone_ever_ordered_from_backdoorsportsca_bds_not/
    I will try and update this comment with more examples of fake sticks so you can check for yourself.

    clever how ccm implements easter eggs in their products to combat counterfeits

      I don't know if that is actually an Easter egg or just a mistake, it is probably a mistake.

    As soon as you bested out your Pro Stock Hockey Sticks custom I was like “YES!” - that’s the brand you buy if you want a quality made, high-level, but lower cost stick.
    The Third/Yellow line is seriously the favorite line of PRO I have tried. I have tried G63’s and the Model-S (my custom Red Lines should arrive soon). And that company is straight up saying that they got inspiration from other sticks but they don’t slap fake logos. It’s really the way to conduct a business unlike those selling the knockoffs.

    I’ve returned a fake stick before. Usually the buyer will ghost u and then if u contact sideline swap they should return the money after u shipped it back

    I purchased a Geo from them and waited a month for shipment. I found the owners number and texted him about the stick. He told me it had been shipped and it never was sent. Luckily I paid by PayPal and was able to get a refund through them. I saw the owner of the company tonight on Dragon's Den with his new company Swift Hockey and one of the dragons actually invested in it. What a mistake. Hopefully he gets found out for his ripping people off.

    Please make the same video on other brands, especially CCM sticks. Really interesting to see how to spot these fakes

    • @HockeyReviews

      Unfortunately, that would require me buying all of the fake sticks to compare them to the retail ones.
      And contrary to popular belief, I don't make a profit on this channel so I can't afford to buy all of those fakes on top of the real ones to do the actual reviews.

    Bro all these sticks are made in Chinese factory’s

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Рік тому +2

      Just because something is made in China doesn't mean it is poor quality. The ACTUAL Bauer sticks have a higher standard without corners cut in quality and performance.

    I have gotten scammed on sidelineswap before with a fake Geo and got a real one from pure hockey. But 99% of the time if it is a new stick and they have new top of the line sticks it’s most likely fake. Also a fake Geo the logo at the bottom is going into the blade.

    I really appreciate the info from this vid. I recently bought a Bauer Agent locally. Love the stick so much. I was interested in verifying authenticity of it with Bauer. I got in contact with them and according to the serial number it is fake. I honestly had a hard time believing them because of how good the stick performs. Went to a couple local shops to get opinions and properly weigh it. It came out to 340 grams with tape on top and bottom. Which is 5 grams more then a real agent. Comparing it to a real agent the colour is definitely off with the green. The guesses from local hockey shops is that it’s an original hyperlite, but with the weight being so close to a real agent it’s just hard to understand. Any insight? It’s killing me that I don’t know what kind of stick this is, as good as it performs.

      So, I've never jumped into the fake Ag5nts and am not able to tell what is real and wasn't. I don't feel comfortable knowingly buying counterfeit products like that so I can't really know from real or fake.
      I do know, Bauer retail (through their website) doesn't have details on pro stock sticks though. As I had someone reach out in regards to a stick they sold that was bought from an NCAA Div 1 team and Bauer.com said it was fake. But they also confirmed they don't have the details on the pro stock sticks so they couldn't check the serial numbers on them.
      Perhaps yours is a pro stock with a different colour? I wouldn't be able to tell otherwise though.

    Back in the day (at least before 2020) you used to be able to tell which Bauer sticks were fake and which were real because the serial number should start with T[year it was manufactured] for example T15XXXXXXX for a 2015-made 1X stick and fakes would have whacky serial numbers like T20XXXXXX for an MX3 (obviously released in 2014 not 2020) but looks like that is not the case anymore.
    It also used to be easier to tell which sticks were real and which were fake at a quick glance when raised textures on the shaft were a big thing. For example I definitely remember seeing fake Bauer NXG sticks with the Tac Spiral and it just did not look right at all (was all bubbly and whiteish in colour, etc.) compared to real NXG sticks.

  • @JeffWizniak
    @JeffWizniak Рік тому

    To legitimize the review and to dissuade people I would actually spend time comparing the manufacturing quality and durability. Personally a poorly applied grip isn't a huge deal, but a lesser quality carbon is! I got 2 hyperlite clones from a local seller. One had a broken blade after less then 5 skates and the other was soft after about 5 games. However I've also seen people advising they have had good luck with them. I personally won't buy anymore as the year old sticks at sportchek on sale are legit and have warranty.

    I buy a lot of sticks from hockey stickman and the quality of those sticks are on and off. I also notice that like an fr5 pro will have the same carbon layout as the ft4 pro on the blade but in stores they’re different. Im not sure if its just because they’re pro stocks but sometimes the quality is great and some arent

    Where are all these counterfeit sticks being sold? Sideline swap? eBay? Unless it’s a retailer with a dedicated brick & mortar store, stick to what you know. eBay is risky, unless it’s a vendor with a great reputation

      Pure is a legit store so there is a 99.999% chance it is a real one. Only way it wouldn't be is if someone managed to somehow buy a real one and return a fake one, but serial numbers should stop that.
