come visit Dieng Plateau, (it's about 2 hours drive from borobudur) Because this plateau was the womb that gave birth to the temples' civilization in Java. Dieng, the Land of Gods, not only boasts stunning cultural works, but also displays the darkest portraits of the worst temple looting committed by locals. If only the 400 temples were still there, plus the stunning natural panorama of Dieng, I wouldn't be surprised if Dieng temple complex became much more famous than Borobudur, Prambanan, or even Angkor wat. And perhaps, the heart of Java tourism today wouldn't be Jogja, but the Dieng Plateau. Because it will be an unrivaled cultural paradise, if the 400 temples still existed.
17:53 hinduism and ... buddhism 😊 as you already know, Borobudur is a buddhis temple. it took 70-ish years to finish it. built by the Syailendra clan from 778-850 CE. it's huge, yeah? such a sight to see. but it came with a cost. it weakened them up to a point where another clan, the Sanjaya, took their chance and built Prambanan. to rival Borobudur, partly. this hindu temple is dedicated mainly to Shiva, god of destruction. and yes, Javanese love-and fear-Shiva. i mean, it is only natural for them to do so since there are too many volcanoes on the island 😉

Because Borobudur have implemented no drone policy around its area unless you buy the permit to fly around those borobudur complex. It is important to remember that borobudur temple is a cultural heritage of Indonesia and also considered a holy place as it is a temple for buddhist in Indonesia. Borobudur used to allowed drone but together with overtourism, vandalism, eventually drone is forbidden because its when it is flown recklessly and if fell to the borobudur temple will damage the structure. The same thing happen with overtourism where the tourist will step on whatever they can place their foot on without caring to the structure of the borobudur causing a couple of years ban from entering the upper area of borobudur and reopen in 2023 limited visitor with additional fee and must wear a special sandal to prevent wear and damage to the structure of the borobudur temple. Hope this will help you to understand why they did that.

I live ten km from the temple and when the weather is good almost everyday there is small airplane come so there is strict rule for drone and flying object like air ballons etc maybe for pilot training cause the plane going circle above my village and nearby dozen times . Thankfully your drone is coming back to you

Not only in Borobudur, for the areas that considered to be vital objects, you can’t flying a drone close by. For religious places, it’s not about being/for „good“ or „bad“ purposes. For most Indonesian, sacred places shall have to be „pure“ (despite their beliefs). Just be cautious next time and always ask for permission. Always asking permission is a sign of respect. 🙏🏽

All of the school kids visiting the temple that day with you guys reminds me of here in the U.S. when many schools east of the Mississippi River take a big end-of-year field trip to Washington DC before the kids start high school in the fall. As a result, in the month of May, the entire Mall in DC (where the Smithsonian museum and Washington Monument are located) is full of tweens in brightly colored T-shirts with their schools name blazoned on them. We have found Java to be much more local prices than Bali. We often found Nasi pecel for around 10k which we think is local price! And so delicious! 🤤
Ive been to the temple 2 times for sunrise .. its the best feeling in the world standing on top of borobudur and watch the mist and sun rise

Great vudeo! BTW, you are not alliwed to fly drones over UNESCO World Heritage Sites anywhere in the world, unless if you have official permit to do so. Borobudur and some other sites in Indonesia are included in the list.

@@SilkyRonTheRoadNo worries, you're not alone. That was the case with me too. They stopped me when flying over Prambanan. I didnt know until they told me 😁... I also found out that in certain countries even using long selfie sticks is not allowed at such sites. Anyway, enjoy your trip guys!!

Not only in Borobudur, for the areas that considered to be vital objects, you can’t flying a drone close by.
For religious places, it’s not about being/for „good“ or „bad“ purposes. For most Indonesian, sacred places shall have to be „pure“ (despite their beliefs).
Just be cautious next time and always ask for permission. Always asking permission is a sign of respect. 🙏🏽

All of the school kids visiting the temple that day with you guys reminds me of here in the U.S. when many schools east of the Mississippi River take a big end-of-year field trip to Washington DC before the kids start high school in the fall. As a result, in the month of May, the entire Mall in DC (where the Smithsonian museum and Washington Monument are located) is full of tweens in brightly colored T-shirts with their schools name blazoned on them. And it's organized chaos!
Seriously. There are so many schools that you'll see every shade of red, purple, yellow, orange, green, and blue known to man. It's like a bag of Skittles has come to life. And they're all very loud. 😂

You should pay to fly drone lol. Even local people must pay. You’re lucky you got your drone back. Many places in the world, not only in Indonesia has rules of forbidding drone flying in certain areas for many reasons including this brorobudur as ‘tourist’ place.

Penggunaan drone di atas kawasan candi, seperti Candi Borobudur di Magelang, Jawa Tengah, juga tidak diizinkan tanpa izin yang sah dari pengelola tempat tersebut. Larangan ini diberlakukan untuk menjaga keamanan, privasi, serta perlindungan dari nilai-nilai sejarah dan budaya yang terkandung di dalamnya.
Yang boleh naik candi dengan gratis adalah mereka yang akan beribadah (bante atau umat budha) mengingat candi borobudur adalah candi yang aktif digunakan untuk ibadah. Pihak pengelola membatasi wisatawan yang boleh naik ke atas candi (dengan menerapkan biaya tambahan) karena tujuan konservatif.
Seperti yang kita ketahui bahwa candi borobudur adalah candi yang sangat tua. Strukturnya mungkin semakin aus setelah berjalannya waktu (tidak sekokoh sebelumnya). Selama ini tindakan pengunjung yang tidak bertanggung jawab juga semakin menambah kerusakan candi. Misalnya vandalisme, naik ke atas stupa, menyentuh relief sehingga membuatnya aus, menyeret alas kaki mereka saat jalan sehingga mengikis batuan tangga dll.
Itulah beberapa alasan mereka menambah tarif masuk bagi pengunjung yang akan menaiki candi, dengan harapan membatasi pengunjung yang berpotensi merusak
