It's completely bull. There is no point in planning wipes in advance. Fix it, give people their stuff back. job done. Don't break it again. There is absolutely no reason for databases to corrupt like this. Game is in dev. We expect problems. But the PTU is there to find the game breaking ones. PU should be stable. There should be backups of player states. We knew that 3.18 was going to wipe. I stopped playing and took a break back when it was supposed to launch in... November? I was super ready to jump back in. I put time in this patch, after it got delayed and delayed over and over again, with them saying that we would keep our credits and rep. Instead they just throw it in our faces.
Some "unforseen issue"? Don't be dense. Many of us (myself included) couldn't (many still can't) access the game AT ALL. Our accounts got corrupted in the database infrastructure failing. Literaly player ID accounts have become corrupted. That's not just an "unforseen issue", it is THE biggest issue you can have when your player accounts CANNOT ACCESS THE GAME. The people angry at the wipes -- how about we trade positions and you get stuck with a 40k and a constant account wipe instead, so you're unable to play or progress in any way whatsoever?
There's no unseen issue here. 3.18 was completely broken at launch. It should never have gone to the PU. But it did and now we know how bad it really was. Desync on the servers today (7/4/2023) was especially bad. I stood up in my MSR and desynced into space while the ship flew off into the black never to be seen again. Surprisingly I did get a location marker for my body after I backspaced out of that situation. Unfortunately it was in the middle of nowhere and it seems we can't quantum to a body marker. I got to it eventually. Got my stuff. Did another cargo run. And then the server went down with a 30K. Many people still have issues just logging in. Others have duplicate items and ships. The simple fact of the matter is, CIG should be wiping the the database after every major backend update. And that's what 3.18 really was. A major change to how things work on the backend to allow the level of persistence CIG have been promising. Frankly I think it's hilarious the cultists are freaking out over this. All they do is scream "it's an alpha" at anybody who complains about SC or CIG. Well this is the reality of a live service game in alpha.
I’ve really been questioning the direction of the community team. Sorry but there’s been so many bad calls over the last year that feels like a death by a thousand cuts. Nerfing the price of luminalia boxes, vanduual masks, rewarding extra aUEC but taking it away, adding ships for in game purchase but taking them away. I realize the community team isn’t necessarily the ones making the call on these changes but when they try and justify these changes it’s all complete BS. Announcing a double wipe has likely killed the majority of the player base now until 3.19 comes out. o7
Thanks for finding the original post from Zhylo, because many ppl on Spectrum last night were defending CIG saying they never told us there wouldn't be a FULL wipe. Seeing his original post again, it sure sounded like a guarantee we would keep reputation and UEC.
I agree on all but one point. I do believe that CIG should give a sizable chunk of aUEC. I think if backers were able to go buy and fly the ship they have been eyeballing, it would encourage people to jump on and test 3.18.1. You can still run missions just as you would in a starter ship but with happy backers that may accept it as a form of apology. CIG gets its tester data for 3.18.1 leading into 3.18.2, and then it all gets wiped a second time in a few weeks anyway. Win, win.
Zyloh’s post on Mar 12 was so fundamentally wrong and misleading, that I for one am just really pissed. I wasted hours and hours grinding UEC and building rep based upon his BS steer. Now it’s been a total waste of time, and I’d long ago saved up enough for the Scorpius.. which I now have no time to use or enjoy. I’m out til Fleet Week, fk this. I’m going to check out Spacebourne 2, and readying for a proper game developer to deliver a decent single player space game in the form of Starfield later this year. This is a masterclass in how to mismanage a community, expectations and pretty well everything. Don’t treat your players time with contempt and like it’s worthless. Don’t sit on half a billion dollars in funding and expect the ‘oh it’s an Alpha’ line to excuse your own poor performance forever. Kudos to Mike: he’s been calling this for weeks, but I didn’t expect this to include rep as well.
Yep, I bet the number of players who are logging in since this news was announced has absolutely tanked global player numbers. I hope 3.18.1 is a ghost town and CIG get the FU they deserve from the player base.
@@billywashere6965 people at CIG need to be Fired, the dev team needs to be out on the streets where they belong. Accountability is the only thing that can fix anything.
Hi, I am a backer since 2016, concierge level. I am happy for those who get in and can play. I had 19K,60k and when i got finally in(27 march) no ship at my spawn location, also an asop bug, and according to CIG too many ships in my account to spawn in properly. The game is not a mess, it is not a game, it has become a milking cow, praying on anxiety and stress to sell more. I cannot play/ get my ships-any ship since 11march. I made 3 tickets to CIG, two to concierge service and one general ticket and i was told by concierge service that it is not a problem with their service...; but the pack I have can only be bought through them. Those ships of the concierge pack cannot be spawned in game. Morale here, buy just one ship+ package because they cannot/will not assume more at the moment. I am also a subscriber which includes ship of the month, those ships I cannot get at the asop terminals i tried. This also since 11 march. Some of my subscriber gear is missing from the start, no solution there. Also no commercial gesture proposed here. Just catching, sound of money... and silence on solutions, any solution. This is not a correct way to handle this, and breach of contract. Not much about all of this by the major tubers, the more popular ones sometimes mention "some people still cant get in", in Horatio Cain one liner fashion. Like it is normal. I wish some content creator had the guts to talk about that but I see that everyone is happy/"feeling lucky" to play the new features/ships with pirate hype on a gradually more and more broken game as the major patches advances. This is going on since release 3.14. (couldn't play for a month then on its release). Did you also notice the drop in quality content by the fellow streamers since release 3.18? And when will someone stand up and be real; not be that happy tuber guy selling sunshine who got lucky to get in but the tuber guy who seriously is asking questions about the mentality that CIG is more and more displaying, about the ones not being able to enjoy their game up until this day. About the endless repeating bugs with every new patch. Just being fair and start thinking again... I stood by SC as a project and I still believe if CIG would be more professional it could become a masterpiece; but this, the 3.18 amateurish debacle, i did not expect and it is an all time low. I just bide my time and hope to be able to get access to my ships soon and enjoy what i have paid for in full. So the wipe is not bad for me, i lost already starting money to buy a ship (un-claimable) which will disappear. No reputation or stuff to loose... I hope 3.18.1 will give me access to my ships. But i feel for those who spend some time having build up something in a live build that is a sad excuse of an unfinished PTU build to only being thrown into a new similar "mature" build (sale coming, say mooh ), with all progress wiped. And of course a new build full of bells and whistles Tier 0 with jumptown/9 tails or other events combined including a free flight, who will be as disastrous to everyone as ever in the past. 3.19 and its promises seems so far away. I am a believer...
Backer from 2016 too and invested +2000 $ until i woke up and saw what i did. I saled my account on star hanger and got my money back (70% got back) better 70% as losing all my money, now i am just looking and waiting for the message from CGI: "... folks we failed, sorry, thank you for the support..." bye bye CGI
Happy Easter to those who celebrate it. Thanks to PTU and EPTU* tests this morning I found a workaround of not having being able to spawn my ships: go (find a kind soul to hike with) to the location ingame where the asop terminal indicates the ships are. Did you know: EPTU has no character creation opportunity at the moment on first login, you get one assigned. Still not a word from CIG on my tickets. *salt alert: live= ?, ptu=1, eptu=5; non electus, error est in caligo Hey Salty: What is your stance on CIG using players for free to test/report/analyze/do scripted actions? The whole spectrum environment reeks free labor with uncontracted volunteers and such, minimum CIG effort (I have unanswered questions (more than a year!)to CIG members on spectrum, so what is their function there; keeping up appearances?). Did you know that some people last year got a gift for their free work, but strangely some of their much harder working ants (300+ tickets/work reports/videos) where left in the cold? And do you realize that promising a dream but never delivering it finished is a marketing strategy to get paid almost endlessly in the hope of the promised finished product? Do you see a pattern here? I do: Alpha= half a billion dollars and the market grows every year... Isn't that salty, Mike?
I ran an org complete with events, daily participation, ect. Its now a ghost town. People ether cant get accts to work, have major bugs in game, or dont want to grind just to get wiped. Cig is really doing everything it can do to discourage the comunity involvement that SC runs on.
Serious question: You mentioned that you don't believe the wipe is anything malicious. Which is fine. A business wanting to make money isn't malicious, in my opinion. But what specifically, leads you to believe that they are not wiping the money for the purpose of making people buy ships with real money? It is the backbone of their business and they have to sell ships to keep development going. So, as you lose faith in anything they say to us, what part of the ten year history of development could possibly make you think these three back-to-back wipes are not a money-making tactic for CIG?
This is the most beautiful game ever. The greatest concept for a game ever ....THE WORST COMMUNICATION EVER. THE MOST UNDERPERFORMING (per their own standards) DEV TEAM EVER! With all the millions given, we should have purchased with that some competence!! STOP THE FOCUS ON SOCIAL JUSTICE WITH THE RAINBOW SERVICE TEAM AND GET SOME INTELLIGENT PEOPLE IN THERE!!
Yes, they focus on silly stuff and ban people for not accepting the new stupid globalist agenda. Who wants to be a cat, or nonbinary, he/she can be what ever they want, but dont force this sh**t to us. They lost their way, they should work on the game and not on social destructive stuff
Except for all of my ships, I've lost nearly 10million. Compared to some, it's not much. I barely played after 2017 but started up again after 2022. Now I've got to start over again! This is crazy... It's a buggy disaster, imo.
it's not an alpha it is a buggy mess, no other "alpha" is run like this, at best it's a very bad live service game but in reality it's a terribly coded and horrendously mismanaged "game" with the bare minimum effort put in
But like, you knew you'd be losing that 10 million eventually right? The frustration from people who thought they could start grinding in 3.18 is justified, but if you've been playing since 3.17 hoping to keep your progress, you really aught to keep your expectations to check; another wipe WILL come, probably at 4.0, maybe later, but it WILL come
@@Cozmox874 I'd normally agree with this sentiment. But the database is corrupted. CIG clearly can't fix it. They genuinely need to do a wipe. Which is always a risk when major changes are made to the backend.
@@CC-oi8gr I think the question people are starting to ask is, "Why is this acceptable or any kind of rational business model?" When you tell people, "It's in Alpha", people can understand that. They just don't expect you to still be using that excuse a decade later.
Pay to win, purchase ships irl to have better progress every wipe. Now continue wiping often to encourage purchasing ships irl rather than buying in game. I get its alpha but come on any time I've played this game the past 2 years my progress is always about to be wiped.
Not even pay to win. Its just pay overpriced ship concept so you can hop in an blow up because the wind was too strong. Oh whats that? You finally got to your destinat....."error 30000" OH whats that you finally made enough ingame currency to buy ship? NAHHH *full wipe*
Need a compromise. That fact that ppl who paid real money to hold ships shows a database does work. With that said they should offer a subscription based system for those ppl that can't afford to pay thousands. Instead offer $5 a month. Any ships bought in game stays between wipes. Each wipe does reset the ship but atleast u would have the ship.
Perfect take Mike. They can't necessarily prevent wipes, we know this, but we should definitely have plenty of credits AND the new ships for the 3.18.1 patch at the very least.
I'd recommend getting a refund, I have backed for 9 years and the game is in no better state, you only have 2 weeks at most to get a refund easily... the refund Reddit is a great place for advice on refunds. But this game won't improve for a long time if at all, come back in a year and it'll be mostly the same, people who play now are doing the same things as what they did 4 years ago or later (mostly bounties since there is barely anything else worthwhile and salvage is unusable and boring anyway).
multiple videos on UA-cam such as sunk cost galaxy too, just giving you more information as I understand UA-camrs make this game seem better than it is!
unfortunately this is the roughest patch there has ever been IMO, and as a new player not a good one to start with. personally i think you would enjoy this game in the near future so i would suggest holding off, but then again you could get your money back if it has been less that 30 days and always get into to it later when it works better.
Were told theres no need to purchase ships irl since you can buy in game however they wipe so often that grinding in game is less effective than just purchasing irl...
I'm surprised by the wipe, but I had a feeling they would need to once I saw the issues others were having. For that reason, I've just been doing whatever I feel like in 3.18 and wasn't grinding for anything.
Yeah soon as people could start their grind before others and especially after people could exploit literally millions from trade terminals, while the obvious one was the ability to get extra cargo there was another exploit I won’t detail that in some cases allowed players to sell their same cargo (in some cases) up to 10 times
The last two posts I definitely agree with -- a stipend would be a decent way of adding levity to the situation. They did mention they would do a full post-mortem on the 3.18 launch, but I expect we'll likely get thta AFTER they stabilise 3.18, which I'm fine with.
Totally agree. The Community Team is like the press secretary for a politician: spin, spin, spin. 0 fact. 0 respect for the players. In a couple weeks Jared will be trotted out with his puppy dog eyes with a half-hearted “we’re sorry and we appreciate you”.
I think originaly a partial wipe is what was expected and planned however the reason for them going with the full wipes is because of the currency exploits that have become so know and widespread that they need a full wipe to reset the AUEC to get the currency balanced, as well as the backend database resets they need to get everyone back into the game and everyone back onto a level playing field.
Yep, this is what obviously happened. When I encountered the 40k a couple of times and realized the only way forward was a full account wipe, I realized that there was no way to keep playing if I and others keep encountering 40ks where the database is completely borked. A full wipe is the only thing that makes sense.
Wipes are that you buy ship and gear because you are tired of “sizifs job” style of grinding money in game. If they can remember gear and ships bought by real money why then can’t remember ships bought in game.
A simple answer to your question YES!! You can (and should) expect a rocky and very bumpy road through the development cycle and implementation of the Server Meshing that CIG have in mind for Star Citizen. It is all cutting edge and never before done type of stuff (according to CIG) that is going to power the game forward past 4.0 and it's aspirational Open Beta goals. As with ANYTHING "cutting edge" and 'never before tried' technology I (and I am NOT a technically qualified person in ANY field of endeavour) would expect hiccups and 'happenings'. Common Sense tells me to expect the unexpected and (if I am along for the ride, by virtue of owning a Pledge Package) roll with whatever comes, expecting that it "will all come out in the wash" so to speak.
Community Team's Goal: This is actually VERY clear when you talk to the many many people who are regularly banned by Nightrider and others. Their primary goal is to keep negativity on spectrum, specifically negativity regarding concrete and objective failings, as quiet as possible. This makes perfect sense becasue CIG's primary income comes from new backers pouring money into the game in replacement of...well everyone else. It's why the bad performance of the PU is such a big deal: Star Citizen is running honest to god ADS on youtube and facebook and the people brought in by these ads can't be allowed to see negativity, bad news, and lamentations of abusive mods and constant failures. So...they delete and ban constantly. It's the ONLY thing the moderation teams does. I've never seen a mod team quite like it in this regard.
lol I got to crusader sec level 5. Pushed through the bugs- did it for me and for them to have info. Lesson learned- there will always be a wipe after a wipe
I tried several weeks to get somewhere in the game as well as find work arounds and bugs to report and identify causes in the game, it was so bad at every step there was no point. Then to find out the exploits were so pervasive I just gave up as I saw my efforts were going no where. Wipe and another wipe follows shortly after, don't see the need for a PU drop, keep it in the PTU until the 3.19 patch and then stress test as nothing is getting saved and progression is no longer a function to work towards. Have no belief that they are putting in a hearty list of upgrades, improvements or fixes. Trust is just not there.
intentional or not, if constant full wipes become the norm and more regular, the only way you will ever fly the more expensive ships is by paying with real cash
As a new Player why are Wipes sich a negative bug Deal? We don’t keep any of this bc it’s alpha. Isn’t this game about the experiences and fun Not Money grinding? Like isn’t upgrading your current ships guns, shields, warp drive a short Money Sink then what Else is it used for?? Maybe you would wana buy in Game Ships but those are temporary anyway atm? So what’s the big deal???
People are just getting burned out is all voib. Keep that same energy. As a new player, you probably got about 5 years or so before it starts grinding on you. But don't worry, there are plenty of veterans around here that just don't sound off, but we're here.
@@purpleyeti705 I can understand that. I’ve experienced that myself with many frustrating MMO’s n such. One day it will be so cool to have no Resets and permanent Progress!
@@purpleyeti705 Having participated in multiple MMO closed Alpha and Beta tests in my life, I can tell you that SC is certainly one of the most broken in terms of their database, backend, and wipes. But things like wipes, and progress being virtually meaningless because "It'S aN aLpHa" are just normal; I just see so many people trying to treat SC as a finished game, and that anything they do now matters (Actually, everything we do now matters, just nothing we do in game pertaining to our in game account). There's a lot of things I can throw shade at CIG over; but treating an in-dev alpha mmo like a fully finished game is more a "you problem" to people who do it; such as I can blame CIG's sales/marketing team for basically taking over and running the circus, that's a CIG problem. One of the fondest memories of an Alpha to beta test I did was Maplestory; hopping through hoops to get into the Korean alpha, and the global beta; spending months in the "Beta" that was so functionally complete you really could play the game start to finish minus some end game content; and the day the beta died, there was a massive party in the main hub locations, players logged in and started throwing out money, rare items, cash shop items; because at the end of that day, the beta was officially shutting down and all progress being wiped for the live launch. Everyone knew it was coming the day they signed up, everyone knew it was getting close when the letterhead email announcing it to all of us was sent; and the day it died, we partied. and it's experiences like that that have hardened me to the shit-show SC is currently; Not to say I have any enthusiasm for back-to-back-to-back wipes; I understand the database was fucked from PES, but I'm just going to check out until 18.2 is out, I understand wipes for major patches that change core tech; but I'm not gonna bother if there's gonna be a wipe in like 3-5 weeks after the next wipe too. Point I'm making is, wipe now, wipe soon, wipe again; If SC ever makes it to Beta, there's absolutely going to be a wipe before it, and I fully expect one last final wipe from beta to live; if you think people are losing their shit over wipes now, wait till they hold the beta open with no wipes for like 2 years and then announce the final closure (wipe) of the beta to prep for the 1.0 live launch. It's gonna be the saltiest day in SC history.
I'm not a database expert but I do have common sense. There is no excuse you can give me that would explain why ship's purchased with cash can be retained but in-game purchases wiped. Code doesn't care if money has changed hands. I'm that guy that never pays for ship's or other items with real money in any game. I somewhat conceive it as cheating. Star Citizen for me is playing/working my butt off so I can buy those ship's other than my starter ship in-game. Every android game I play pulls shit where you don't get a prize after watching an ad. They cheat you in other ways too but the point is to frustrate a person to the point of paying cash money to suppress your frustrations. I feel that's what CIG is doing. Continuously wipe my ship's until I give up and buy it with real money. Love your work SaltEMike!
I have no doubt that they need to do the full wipe. Ships were almost certain from the start. AUEC was getting duped so much that that had to happen but its not getting fixed till .2 so if they want some accurate testing in .1, it has to happen then as well. Rep is also fubar for a large number of people . If you fail, crash, or the server just doesn't let you finish it, you can not get that mission type again in that system. It sounds like that would be an easy fix but with the numbers, I am betting that it would take time and money that a simple wipe would keep them from having to spend if the core problem is fixed. That being said, we as players are not payed employees so for most this is just the worst way to do this. If they had said "We need to wipe, but we are going to give you some bonuses to make up for this and we are sorry that it had to happen at all."
I personally don't have problems with wipes. But they really need to dedicate 2023 to fully and completely polish 3.18 and PES. Bringing in 3.19 into this mess will be next disaster. They need to fix everything that is going on(and there is still a lot of work) and bring on iterations of 3.18 through whole year and slowly adding all the features from 3.19. PES needs to be working perfectly before we move on to next patches! End of story. They need to assure that errors like 40014 and similar which literally preventing us to properly test the patch and report the bugs, never happen after patch hits live servers. Patch health really can't be measured by PTU testing! Every time I've said, nightmare will begin as soon as 3.18 hits live, and it did. Just my thoughts here.
*hears they are full wiping twice* .. *hasnt been able to log in at all since the day after 3.18 launch due to character unstowed with no respite* .. dang, thats crazy...😂
We chose to play an alpha game and while I do admit full wipes suck and they can knock the wind out of your sails. We knew ahead of time that these things are possible and more likely expected. As someone who has play several in development games wiped happen. It doesn’t matter what you build up now when it moves to beta they will wipe and usually when they officially launch anything less would discourage new players.
I'm so salty about this lmao I'm doing box missions just because I've never done them. Covalex shipping station gundo -- tractoring boxes through that maze (I took three missions) it was something different to do and honestly challenging and fun. I completed all three missions without the server glitching me dead or the boxes into the shadow realm
Just imagine a rollback in an alpha, I think peoples expectations are getting screwed about the situation by misscommunication of CIG. I believe marketing reasons have been taking over decisions at CIG over developing reasons a long time ago. When companies set proper expectations for their tests you still have the 1% that will scream fix your broken game but it clearly on them then. CIG not explaining their motives even though they claim to be in open development creates the deserved backlash. I do not want to claim I know anything about the technical side of game development but only from the gameplay side I think the patches were of great value and there is a lot to be learned here. On the side of communication it feels deliberate and I think unfortunatelly the open development is way less open then most alphas/betas on my discord... . The big question what did we learn as a backer?
I have yet to log back in since they popped in to the concierge chat and told us that it's going to be a double wipe Probably. I can't see the point until there is at least some sort of progression protection.
We definitely should be compensated for a month of grind. Some people do not have a full paid fleet. Sending a poor Aurora/Mustang owner back to square one is not something they should entertain. Im "lucky", i got 3 ships, but i still need to upgrade them and the upgrade costs are over 2 mil total. And just to add something else about the wipes: Its not about the wipes themselves, but without the lack of any sympathy or compassion toward those who did grind their ass in 3.18.0 to prep for 3.18.1. All the rep is gone. And not a "sorry", no any compensation. New players are back to their Aurora/Mustang and asking themselves "Should i continue? There is no guarantee they wont wipe everything again in a month or two".
I understand most pre-patch data may need to be wiped for backwards compatibility issues as well for not needing to run data fixers. I do not understand why the hell aUEC needs to be wiped. It’s just a total number. If the whole DB needs to be wiped they can most certainly back up the table column that has a players aUEC total and update post patch to what people had before the wipe. It makes no sense why aUEC totals can’t be restored. People spent weeks grinding and saving. Doing the one thing that CIG said wouldn’t get wiped and all those hours of game play are gone. I don’t trust a word they say anymore
I lost trust in them a long time ago, they have destroyed this game and any trust in the player base this is as bad as it seems they are in big trouble.
I'm surprised they allowed 3.18 out to live as bad as it was in the PTU. I thought that was the complete point of having a PTU to test before live. then PTU went 3.18.1 and I think that was before they let 3.18 out to live, so why would they send 3.18 out at all? Now there is a 3.18.2 out in the EPTU, (so now we have LIVE 3.18, PTU 3.18.1 and EPTU 3.18.2) Still wrapping my head around that... you would think there only would be live and just 1 PTU for testing. I do agree they NEED a wipe, and this is a good time to do it, since we just had a wipe. Had there been more time between wipes then more players would loose more, since the would had more time in collecting more between the wipes.
i honestly don’t think zylon is lying. but their team is not communicating with the people like zylon and the management is making decisions on the fly
0% chance I will EVER spend another dime on this game. Period. My cutty black pledge is already 2x the cost of any other fully functional game. CIG, ima head out.
It’s nice that they are adding more content for the game 3.18, 3.18.1, 3.18.2 etc. but in the end they are creating more problems before figuring out the solutions. Adding more problems will just upset the community. People would love to be able to just play the game in a stable condition. It seems like more fuel is being added to the fire instead of putting it out…
Actually quite okay if they have us 50\100k plus to get around bugs. Some days the game can be so bad that one keeps bleeding aUEC with no ability to make any progression.
I Don't believe that UEC wipe and rep wipe are Nessary. They have stated in the past that they have been separated and if they can save ship purchases in-game to reinstate later on then they can do the same with UEC. I suspect its more dammage control and a refusal to admit how bad the exploits are. They are wiping both patches because 18.1 does not fix any exploits. So they know they would need to wipe agian anyways or else let people have UEC. Cause god forbid that players make lots of UEC in a game with no functional player economy.
They did not talk about the console bug exploit, some players made billions from it, it might be one more reason why the full wipe.... and I think the backers will come back and test the PU when they feel their problem has been fixed.
With those wipes there is no playing. we probably don't get one in 3.19 if 3.18.2 patch is stable since it runs on the same branch. but we all expect a full wipe in 4.0. At some point we should get to a situation that there are no wipes between big number patches 4.0 - 5.0. This will die otherwise.
As a new player who has spent entirely too much real world money getting my computer up to a point where it can run the game not to mention my collection of digital ships... I just can't see the point of playing right now.
After watching your video the other day, they should rename him to Social Media Community manager, as he basically not not front facing as he never shows his face. Will acknowledge though everyone knows he is very active on spectrum, reddit, twitter etc.
Well it seems Zyloh's colleagues have been assholes then. They know he is the one who stands in spectrum with his pants around his ankles on behalf of the whole company yet they wouldn't share information with him when requested?
Yes, MIKE!, I agree with you, I dont believe any comms from them. Early baker, my computer is designed to run star citizen, and in my opinion, there is nothing really new. I had a ton of fun in 3.17. Now no fun any more. So, in my case I will wait till 3.18.2 to play again.
When you work in information and you do updates, you will hear rumours through the grapevine, but until a director sends you a direct communique it is not solid. So Zyloh is simply giving information he receives when he gets it. The fact people think wipes are not supposed to happen is ridiculous to me. SC is a Live service in DEVELOPMENT, so nope not finished. The day they say something like BETA or RELEASED this will be somewhat unacceptable, but still expected early days.
Do we want the game to be fucked or fixed ? Wipes will happen if the game gets broken. Play...test.. wipe..start over. This is how it will be until release. We need to accept that. I do agree on points made though that this seems like the wipe info was beling kept back to keep players engaged..... but even so. .... we will all get wiped many times more during development.
Cig wiping their own reputation constantly
Nice 1
🤣🤣 yesss
Honestly that'd probably be a net positive for them if they could with how many missteps they take.
CIG assurance means nothing
I can't see this going well in any case... 3.18.1 will be a ghost town

"I am starting to lose trust"
Honestly, you guys will never learn
The player base bending over is half the blame of this ridiculous mess. People at CIG need to be fired, not trusted.
Yeah, there is nothing to add to this. How are people still surprised by another clusterfrack from this "project"?
Instead they just throw it in our faces.
is anyone surpirised? They ALWAYS wipe before the big ship sales because of some "unforseen issue." EVERY sale.
Just shut up
I was locked out in a pre-menu 30009 error state. For 3 weeks.
No AC, no PU, no Star Marine.
Yeah. Tradsies?
@@billywashere6965 auec and rep aren't what's causing you to not be able to log in, you can bet on that.
Announcing a double wipe has likely killed the majority of the player base now until 3.19 comes out. o7
how it started: "Welcome to, lasting legacies"
how its going: 'we are wiping all of your progress...'
Thanks for finding the original post from Zhylo, because many ppl on Spectrum last night were defending CIG saying they never told us there wouldn't be a FULL wipe. Seeing his original post again, it sure sounded like a guarantee we would keep reputation and UEC.
The White Knight have been working overtime in the Spectrum forums and chat.

wow, love to respond to this... lol. Great statement. So true.
They have already implemented ze bugz
Klaus Schwab = Chris Roberts? 🤔
Win, win.
They said they fixed the 40k error but myself and alot of others in PTU are still getting them today.
For PU?
@Grant Walker I'm saying alot of people in ptu are only playing there because they can't get into PU due to 40k
With pending wipes I'm sure player counts are way down. What reason is there to log in other than to test or hang with friends?
Yep, I bet the number of players who are logging in since this news was announced has absolutely tanked global player numbers. I hope 3.18.1 is a ghost town and CIG get the FU they deserve from the player base.

3.18: Not Lasting Legacies
*salt alert: live= ?, ptu=1, eptu=5; non electus, error est in caligo
Hey Salty: What is your stance on CIG using players for free to test/report/analyze/do scripted actions?
Been waiting to play since 3.17.3
This is the most beautiful game ever.
It's an alpha.
it's not an alpha it is a buggy mess, no other "alpha" is run like this, at best it's a very bad live service game but in reality it's a terribly coded and horrendously mismanaged "game" with the bare minimum effort put in
But like, you knew you'd be losing that 10 million eventually right?
The frustration from people who thought they could start grinding in 3.18 is justified, but if you've been playing since 3.17 hoping to keep your progress, you really aught to keep your expectations to check; another wipe WILL come, probably at 4.0, maybe later, but it WILL come
@@Cozmox874 I'd normally agree with this sentiment. But the database is corrupted. CIG clearly can't fix it. They genuinely need to do a wipe. Which is always a risk when major changes are made to the backend.

I think the question people are starting to ask is, "Why is this acceptable or any kind of rational business model?"
When you tell people, "It's in Alpha", people can understand that.
They just don't expect you to still be using that excuse a decade later.
I haven't been able to load the game for the last 3 weeks. Guess I'll wait until 3.18.2 before trying again.
Pay to win, purchase ships irl to have better progress every wipe. Now continue wiping often to encourage purchasing ships irl rather than buying in game. I get its alpha but come on any time I've played this game the past 2 years my progress is always about to be wiped.
I think after this you’ll see a Major decline in interest / ship purchases. This is not going to end well.
It was always going to be wiped eventually, you knew this...why moan about something you knew about
Not even pay to win.
Each wipe does reset the ship but atleast u would have the ship.
my ships went back to default loadout and I lost everything Id worked for near start of .18 that was it for me , ive not played since waiting for wipe
WIPE twice now + invictus WIPE 4 sales .....+ 3.19 + 4.0 WIPE +.....Realy not playable EXCEPT: if "CIG put 10 STD all class to every player like FS"
Perfect take Mike. They can't necessarily prevent wipes, we know this, but we should definitely have plenty of credits AND the new ships for the 3.18.1 patch at the very least.
Zyloh's post didn't age well...
I started playing this game 2 weeks ago, and it's been hell.
O7
Watching a man in real time have the dawning realization that he threw in with the wrong game.
I saw an employee saying that people were "reeeing about the wipes."
And they are.
@Troy Havok regardless, I don't think it's a good look to generally discount your customers concerns at large as screeching.
Were told theres no need to purchase ships irl since you can buy in game however they wipe so often that grinding in game is less effective than just purchasing irl...
Displays of a generally shitty attitude by CIG employees is pathetic, and shows a total disconnect with the player base.
They could care less because so many idiots buy ships WHILE they can’t even log in. What a crazy bunch of boot lickers
once again - CiG proved they are a bunch of losers. They don't even put effort to help players recover faster for such wipe events.
AND THEN WHAT MIKE!? MIKE!??
I'm surprised by the wipe, but I had a feeling they would need to once I saw the issues others were having. For that reason, I've just been doing whatever I feel like in 3.18 and wasn't grinding for anything.
Yeah soon as people could start their grind before others and especially after people could exploit literally millions from trade terminals, while the obvious one was the ability to get extra cargo there was another exploit I won’t detail that in some cases allowed players to sell their same cargo (in some cases) up to 10 times
The databases we're a mess since release of 3.18 I've expected full wipes as you should after a massive db switch
I pretty much expected a turn it off and on again fix. What's annoying is that it took this long.
The last two posts I definitely agree with -- a stipend would be a decent way of adding levity to the situation. They did mention they would do a full post-mortem on the 3.18 launch, but I expect we'll likely get thta AFTER they stabilise 3.18, which I'm fine with.
Really also hope that all these fixes up to 3.18.2 will improve Official in-game events that contain freefly`s like Invictus etc.
If an exploit like this is found, they should do a micropatch to address it immediately if it's a problem. Not let it fester.
Specially with a sale so close, having people with all the ships they want purchased in game could be bad for bussines
They absolutely wipe to sell ships.
Wipes are that you buy ship and gear because you are tired of “sizifs job” style of grinding money in game.
If they can remember gear and ships bought by real money why then can’t remember ships bought in game.
I would be very curious to know how many Vultures they sold in the past month since 3.18 went live.
So should i keep my aUEC or buy ships?
Buy ships. You may get them restored to your account down the road (slim chance). But auec is getting wiped for sure.
Am I a total bafoon for believing zyloh and grinding rep + money?
yea
No you are supposed to trust people in his position.
Yes Charlie Brown and Lucy will yank that ball back everytime you wind up to kick it.
Yes, if you trust any definitive answer at this moment, and from now on. Then is on you.
Maybe before you get scammed. But after you’ve been scammed for 10 years. No
Is it true that most of the gray market stuff is bought with the UEC hack?
Expect a wipe every patch until live release, otherwise you will be disappointed often.
Spot on. Yeah I don't like starting with a lot of aUEC.
intentional or not, if constant full wipes become the norm and more regular, the only way you will ever fly the more expensive ships is by paying with real cash
Oh my sweet young summer child
Cig has strayed from the path. This is not the way.
Dmn it! Dont mess with the extra money, some of us need it to get started...
I didn't even know this post existed. There are still people in spectrum arguing right now that there will be no wipe...
Are there parallels here with the Elite Dangerous communication style? Perhaps this is a gaming industry/corporate comms type issue? :(
Thats evil publisher speak. Cig is teh most transparent game company evar! /s
I have yet to log back in since they popped in to the concierge chat and told us that it's going to be a double wipe Probably. I can't see the point until there is at least some sort of progression protection.
cig needs to wipe them selves and build an entire new team that can get this game finished
You don't know what changed in two days, but that is possible they knew.
Have to keep your earned ships just out of reach so you give up and buy them in the upcoming sale.....pro move
In game inventory and ship purchases should stick to the account and transfer between wipes, maybe besides large ships. Change my mind...
i honestly don’t think zylon is lying. but their team is not communicating with the people like zylon and the management is making decisions on the fly
I'm newish from the ship show.
There is a problem with CiG communicating.
They did not talk about the console bug exploit, some players made billions from it, it might be one more reason why the full wipe.... and I think the backers will come back and test the PU when they feel their problem has been fixed.
Your post not in description.
That’s brigading, so I’d rather not.
@@saltemikereacts Facts. Didn't think about that one.
PS It's funny that the adverts say 3.18 is out and "PLAYABLE NOW"? Maybe need to define playable a bit better? :(
As a new player who has spent entirely too much real world money getting my computer up to a point where it can run the game not to mention my collection of digital ships...
I just can't see the point of playing right now.
I'm getting tired of having my hard earned ass wiped.
Good video, I’ve learned again that CIG words are meaning less
After watching your video the other day, they should rename him to Social Media Community manager, as he basically not not front facing as he never shows his face. Will acknowledge though everyone knows he is very active on spectrum, reddit, twitter etc.
Well it seems Zyloh's colleagues have been assholes then. They know he is the one who stands in spectrum with his pants around his ankles on behalf of the whole company yet they wouldn't share information with him when requested?
Told everyone like 3 weeks ago, they told me I was wrong and it wasn’t a full wipe. What can I say, ya’ll set your standards waaay to high 😂
must be great to have insider information...
Dude, don't even worry about it, there isn't much to do in the live servers anyways.
Gee you asking that it does not happen in 3.19 or 4.0 You are an optimist.😮
Surely there won't be a wipe. Remember Chris saying the game is live? Surely you don't wipe a live game. Don't we all trust Chris?
they should give bonus auec linked to your hours played...
Bad news doe not get better with age. It is still a gr8 game and fun, so just tell it as it is. We will still play.
Lasting legacies! At least marketing is on the ball.
The days and days of the cultists in-game screaming at anyone who claimed there wouldn't be a full wipe. Love it.
