Reminds me of when Shaq was doing a post game interview with Christian Wood and said he wasn’t familiar with his work, and Wood said “Aw man you a casual” 😂
man what 😂
@@E4MByeah it was pretty wild to see. Like this guy is trying to be taken seriously and just admits to not knowing shit, and then keeps making claims like his opinion should matter
Dude (shaq) is talking on his pod about Joker, and calls him a 3pt shooter. I was dead. He better said defender... And that there is a top 10 player, so a lot of bullshit.

@@BT405 It is on extremely low volume, so we cant categorise him as a 3-point shooter. Percentages aren't everything, bro. This is in the same vein as saying Seth is the best shooter ever just based on his percentage

Nah he has a point tho. What difference can you even make if you’re not on an all star level
@@SoggySlopster are you serious? Please tell me you’re not that dumb
Shaq has shown throughout his entire adult life that he’s more than willing to coast by on his innate ability rather than take steps to become better. With his comedic ability, he could be an S tier commentator but instead we have to deal with a grown man that gets in his feelings anytime someone points out that he’s wrong.
Im glad you brought up that this is a trend based on his potential during his playing career. Shaq could’ve been so much more and he can be now. But he either doesn’t want it or he doesn’t see the vision
@@malcolmhodnett8874 he even rejected Barry's offer to improve his free throw since he doesn't want to look like sissy. He should've tried shooting it underhand just like Wilt did in his best statistical season. Even if he improved by 10-15% on the line is still better.

There’s no need for other comments. This literally sums up Shaq. I am so tired of this oversized toddler.
I remember that time he tried to prove everyone who accused him of being a casual wrong, he tried talking to Jokic in his first language, as if knowing Jokic's nationality would make him look smarter than the rest. Problem was that he spoke in Russian and of course, Jokic is not Russian, he's Serbian.
He did it twice by the way. 2nd time joker was kinda mad at him because of it
Oh my. 😱 lol 😆

Shaq low-key a racist ngl

Shaq is a tough person for me to judge. As a basketball fan he comes off as arrogant, disrespectful, closed-minded and clearly someone who was so gifted at basketball he never actually learned anything about the sport yet no one had the heart to tell him... but on the other hand, Shaq the celebrity is loved, every other celebrity in other walks of life speak highly of him. He is seen as humble, charitable and genuine. It's so polarized that I feel like he 2 people lol. As a basketball fan I can't stand him. But as a celebrity outside of basketball I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a fan.
That's actually a great way to put it
Right. Its so odd to me. He has two different personalities.
This is pretty much my feelings as well. A lot of it I can put down to things like when he was a young man he had Kareem in the newspapers saying "Shaq aint won shit". This made him in turn feel he has to be a dick to other players because Kareem being a dick to him helped him get angry enough to actually be the dominant force he was.
I feel like Shaq the celebrity is who he really is at the core whereas Shaq the "analyst" is just the more egotistical side of him talking. We all have our negative sides and I think in this case Shaq's just comes out when it comes to the thing he takes pride in the most: basketball.
@@cyrillesu I agree. That's how I see it as well.

My favorite player ever, but man is he a bad analyst.
@@fortynights1513 I love him as a player and a personality in general. But as a basketball mind he isn’t there at all, I could easily name 100 players off the top of my head and I don’t even watch as much ball as I did a couple years ago. Saying you only know top 10 even if you’re exaggerating is crazy.
But he could drop 100 on whoever he’s talking about tho
Or he is just bad at his job. Shaq is a lazy analyst. Everyone in this comment section knows more then him on basketball. Also, Shaq has always been lazy as a person.
Shaq is the biggest man child I've ever seen. The best example of that is his constant bullying of Dwight Howard just because he dressed as Superman at the dunk contest.
I find this funny because “superman” is probably the 29th most common nickname you think of when referring to Shaq. Shaqtus, Diesel, Shaq Fu, you name it. Nobody even calls him superman by comparison to his other nicknames.
@@MintZyn true. People call him Shaq followed by Diesel the most. Actually those are his only 2 real nicknames. The rest are just characters lol

@@TorontoWire I have to agree. Not in terms of dominance but the nickname was more his than it ever was for Shaq. Ppl actually called prime Dwight that. Which is probably why Shaq hated it lol

I’ve watched one sixers game with JJ commentating (never seen his podcasts) and he said that embiid always shoots a pull-up when the ball crosses over to his left hand. Man, if you haven’t watched embiid, keep a lookout for this because it is hilariously accurate
Om god! I've been following Joel for a little bit and this is such a accurate description
Facts crazy how much you notice when u pay attention to the tinest detail my dad pointed out to me yrs ago you can tell when cp3 finna shoot the way he points his feet on his drives when he stops and his feet is facing the basket hes shooting
Tbh, JJ was Embiid's teammate. He definitely noticed one or two habits of him.
And this kind of proves that take. This should be ridiculously easy to point out, especially from a pro player. But because we're used to super casual takes it sounds like some genius basketball secret that nobody knew
I feel like this is the same conversation we always have about Kendrick Perkins. The modern sports commentator landscape on network tv thrives on rage bait like this and now people are making UA-cam videos about it.
Shaq got the attention he wants. We all clicked on this video, and tnt got the hater clout

Kenny on all the smoke said that shaq was constantly fucking around and not watching the games.
One time during the half time show shaq said that deandre jordan needed to do this and that when in fact, deandre wasnt playing that game. It was only after this that shaq would actually watch the games.
I like shaq (generally speaking), but that said a lot about his attitude. Even if ur not watching every single dribble attentively and ur on ur phone from time to time, u gotta at least watch the damn game and not only start to do it cuz u got caught/embarrassed.
Wont pretend like i know a bunch about hachimura, but i at least know of his existence. This isnt some random dude who got signed to a 10 day contract, though u should still know that since its ur job. This is a kid who has been in the league for a couple years now. I dont need to know much about him, but man, ur getting paid to cover the league/players and u dont know who this person is? Thats straight up embarrassing man.
Hes not a top 10 player so u dont need to know him? Well thats very unprofessional and i guess personal accountability dsnt mean shit.
In Shaqs twilight years when he wasn't anywhere near a top 10 player, I completely forgot who he was.
Apparently, he did too.
Shaq is just comic relief and that's the only reason they have him on there.
Honestly, I feel like Chuck qualifies for that more than Shaq because Chuck makes everybody laugh with zero effort
It was funny when it was fringe g league guys but Christian wood and Rui are good rotation players, he should be more embarrassed
Christian Wood is way, WAY better than Rui. Rui really isn't very good. He had one good half of a season shooting last year on low volume. He's an overall net negative player. He's a very poor defender, doesn't add much offensively as a stretch big, no playmaking and is a below average rebounder for a supposed PF. Oh and he's yet to play 60 games in a season and won't this year either. As a Wizards fan, I'm happy to move on and don't care we didn't get much. He's just a name because people liked him coming out of college a few years ago and has been playing anonymously in DC where no one sees him not developing.
That’s way over critical of Rui. Rui is a quality bench player. He has a promising mid range game, he is far from “a very poor defender”. He’s not a bad defender, he’s good from 3 at certain spots, solid overall, good size, very young still, and yeah bc of his injury and the emergence of Kyle Kuzma his opportunity kind of came and went. I think he will likely become a quality starter. Your comment is if you focused and kind of exaggerate every negative aspect of a player and leaving out every positive about them. To say Christian Wood is “WAY WAY better than Rui” is absolute laughable😭 ….🤡 talk. He’s 3 yrs older, and only
Moderately better
This is why I can't take every statement NBA/Former NBA players make seriously. I remember watching Luka Doncic torch the Clippers (scoring a 40 point Triple-Double) on a bum ankle in Game 4 2020 and Shaq said he wasn't impressed by it. And that was Luka in his Sophomore season.
You have a good point about JJ Redick, specially now that his podcast has grown much more than a mic in his basement. His takes aren’t even something that basketball fanatic can’t figure out themselves, he says what he sees. But he sounds analytical and genuine so it seems that it is a “new media” because we haven’t had it in a long time.
Inside the NBA was completely destroyed by Shaq. When it was just Ernie, Kenny and Charles this show was classic. It seemed like it was just some buddies talking about basketball, and it was truly funny and informative.
Now it’s just Shaq and Charles bickering with each other half the time, and then some actual basketball knowledge every once in awhile.
I largely agree (especially in terms of analysis) with one exception.
The time when Shaq was sitting down on the couch and ranting about Steve Nash’s MVP’s was hilarious.
I liked it when Chris Webber would come onboard pre-Shaq...

Its embarrassing for the sport. NFL, NHL, and even MLB commentators wouldn't get away with making those comments. Shaq played ball the same way. He didn't put in the effort and got away with just doing the minimum. Fire Shaq!
Shannon Sharp has bad takes all the time to though so idk the non athletes still might be worse jj reddic made one of those guys look stupid cause some one tried saying Bob Cousy was better then LeBron
in Shaq's defense, Rui hasn't played like that over the last few years...
*Jesse Pinkman Voice* “HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS”!!!!
Shaq's hilarious his first meme of the year.
I would consider myself a casual NBA and I know who Rui is
Here’s a cookie 🍪 🤝🏻
The problem with his comment is it’s simply not true. He just chose to shit on Rui for no reason. You think Shaq doesn’t know Porzingis, Buddy Heild, KCP, Marcus Smart, etc etc. None of those guys are too ten players but if they end up in a trade his reaction wouldn’t be the same. I don’t get why old guys shit on young guys when they should be building them up.
I’m sure he knows the name, but how much does he truly know about them as players really? Probably very little. When he said he only knew the top 10 guys I think he meant he only knows their games in detail
Even still, you think Shaq only knows those others guys I mentioned only by name? Shaq definitely knows role players games. But to make such a bold statement about only knowing the top ten players when anyone who can think for themselves knows that’s not true is insane. Not knowing Rui’s name or game is one thing, had he just left it at that it would be more understandable. But Shaq definitely knows role player strengths and weaknesses, making a bold statement like that when it’s a lie just feels like an unnecessary jab at Rui.
@@jkdaprynce that’s not entirely wrong honestly I wouldn’t be surprised I mean he still shits on Howard for some odd reason I wonder what D12 did to him😂

@@slacproductions9595 yeah, but atleast Charles do the other half of their work.
Just to emphasize your point: Dwight Howard is a future 1st ballot Hall of Famer and arguably a top 50 player of all time, but because Shaq has spent the last 15 years clowning the dude, now even the league thinks Dwight is a bum because no one signed him this season even though he's still a great role player and he was left off of the 75 team, the same team that has *Carmelo Anthony* in it. You can legitimately make the argument that Shaq's shortcomings as an influential member of the NBA media has ruined the reputation and career of one of the game's all-time greats (I know that Dwight had his missteps as well but it shouldn't have been enough to ruin his legacy).
Shaq is also the same guy who didn’t know the Warriors played in Oakland (at the time) even though he spent a majority of his career with the Lakers and play in the same division as the Warriors

Thing is former players are usually the worst at being analysts. Being an analyst requires developing a skill set to breaking down players strengths and weaknesses, schemes, how teams employ those schemes, how teams counter those schemes, etc. It's not as those players can't do it, they often did it while playing, it's just that once they stopped playing they stopped putting in the work and get overconfident in their opinions because they played. Being a former player doesn't mean you're good at analyzing a game just like being a former player doesn't mean you'll be a good coach or GM. Each job requires a different skills so that's why I scoff at people who say "he played the game" because it doesn't mean that much in a job where you're supposed to be analyzing the game. Being a former player can be enormously helpful in informing your analysis but that is just one aspect that can assist, you still need to put in the work to be good.
