I assume you are using floral wire. What gauge? Also about the straws... were they regular drinking straws or were they jumbo straws?

I know this is extremely late, but I think the ribbon is synthetic twine, although I'm not sure
There's multiple gauges of wire at Jo-Ann fabric I bought floral sticks at Michaels and I'm going to get straws and cut them up like she did in one of the videos

Well I bought some supplies and it’s not going to work. Without knowing the gauge of wire and other details, it’s a shot in the dark. Wasted money on these materials. The materials I have will not make any of these flowers.
