Main reason most likely to minimize ghostteams and keep ppl in the game, so if you miss some deadlines you dont burn as many transfers and feel more inspered to stay active

This definitly also put on less stress on the players to use your free transfers that gets burned if there are 2-3 close game weeks or you are traveling with limited screen time

Finally something new! Good to refresh the game every now and again.
I get why people are saying “3 free transfers would be better”, but I think realistically it won’t be very common for engaged managers to save up 4 or 5 transfers. The bulk of the change is going from 2 to 3, beyond which the increase up to 5 just gives an extra buffer for the less engaged managers to not feel, left behind, and just in general gives a bit of breathing room rather than 3 being the strict limit, even if it is rare to save up beyond that.

Do FPL know something is going to happen this season with a sudden glut of goalkeeper goals? Who was the last keeper to score and how many have in the last ten years?
The game needs to provide an incentive to own defensive midfielders, apart from being cheap they are a wasted asset, a new category / points system should be created, wing backs suffered last year so defence was of minimal benefit...
Agree, similar to the UEFA system where defensive midfielders are rewarded on tackles, recoveries etc

Feels like a way to get people who have forgotten about their team for a few weeks back into the game
I can't see many people not making changes for 5 weeks in a row so it seems to much even from that perspective
@@guyfish This is exactly it. It's not a number a lot of super engaged managers will get much advantage from.
It was incredibly annoying to find out I couldn't bank more than 2 transfers last year. First year really playing for more than the first few weeks, planned my team well and then got 'penalized' by not getting a free transfers in weeks 3/4.
Also, when I had 2 saved up and free hit for a double gameweek and lost the transfers it felt horrible. Defintely will keep more people around throughout the season with these changes. Two thumbs up
The less engaged might playing longer, but for the engaged active players it's ups the luck factor (avoiding injuries in the opening can easily gain you 2-3-4 free transfers in the bank, and that advantage doesn't go away with using a chip) and makes it harder to regain lost points as those out in front not only are up on points, but up on free transfers, and can even follow up it with early wc/fh and just make that advantage grow further.
Banking 5 is a good thing, it allows for more variance in play style and can be rewarding for the more meticulous long term planners.
Say your team looks perfect for 5 weeks and you get lucky with injuries etc it would allow for mass change/mini wildcards and enable more extensive planning and aggressive play
With there also being less chance of Double & Blank gameweeks

Could get you off to a flying start
Agree that a good start is imperative.
Also happy that we can plan for a smaller block of fixtures.
Emphasis should now also be given to players who take more shots.

I'd like to have like a bench sub maybe, not the auto sub incase someone misses in your team, the one the player can choose.
No that shrinks skill gap.
I have thought the same thing for the mystery chip. If someone goes crazy and gets 15 points on your bench, to be able to transfer them in in place of someone who scored less would be great. It would be a once off chip and you would have to use it wisely.
Maybe the mystery chip is everything all at once : free hit, BB and triple captain

Maybe it'll be a week of having Unlimited spending - like in the Fantasy Euros. The squad would then revert back to how it was and we'll have 5 transfers the next week.

5 is too much. Uppping to three would have been the move.
It's to get people who forget about their team for a month or so back engaged in the game without them being totally fucked and having to take a lot of hits.

Hey I really like the idea.
Fantastic to be able to target those big swings in fixtures. Less hits = more points.
My guess is the mystery chip is related to the second chance league, maybe a kind of reset button to help more players stay interested. With people not scoring many points they usually just stop playing, with a change like that it means more people will play in the second half of the season. They helped the people who log on every two, three weeks with the extra transfers as well so that's maybe what they're pushing for.
I want a change to price increases and decreases, they punish players more than the saving of transfer does for me.
On a level, how many people are patient enough to carry over 1 transfer let alone bank up to 5. I think it’s a great new initiative and will be extremely helpful over Christmas when games are back to back ✅👍🏽

People who are causal players so they might forget game for a few weeks fall behind but now instead of giving up they could use five transfers to rebuild
They stated the new chip would be available in January which is about half of the fixtures. So my guess is that it'll allow you to reuse a team you previously had in the first part of the season
The changes benefit engaged managers, reducing variance for when a dead player poxes a cup win scenario.
Mystery chip = All out attack chip 2-3-5 from fantasy back then. Remember this comment 🔥
Only change I want is points for balls recovered and tackles won. Makes defensive midfielders actually worth it.

Surely you want a few GWs first to see what teams and players are performing?
Got to assume the reason for waiting until January for the mystery chip is it will simply replace the second wildcard chip.
Something along the lines of an extra 5m to spend on your second wildcard would be my guess, making it more of a decision whether to use it sooner and build squad value or hold it longer to use during double game weeks.
Nunez will be bps king. 4 shots on target a game. Haaland too..

I’d say there is. How often are you gonna be able to not make a transfer for that long? I’d say it’s unlikely.
How often do we burn a transfer over a season? I think it won't be so easy to build up a lot of banked transfers tbh
It definitely has something to with points. Probably a vice-captain chip or goalkeeper chip
I think there'll be less of a template way to play this season with some of the prices + the lack of blanks and doubles. Can only be a good thing
Will have to delve deeper into the fixture swings. But is it possible that people could successfully use GW1 bench boost, GW2 wildcard and then address subsequent swings with free transfers? Fewer blanks and doubles later in the season.
Has to be a more feasible option than it used to be…
Would love if there was bonus point to players getting subbed in and doing something. Atm it feels a bit over when you see your player on the bench. I feel like it should be rewarded if they actually managed to do something in a shorter timespan instead of penelized.
Very rarely you'll get to 5 FTs.
My best bet for the mystery chip is that it will be a "Double Captain" where both Captain and Vice collect double points.
I think a jump to 5 is an excessive jump. I do think it will benefit those that don’t like making changes
I’ve been saying goalkeepers scoring should be 10 points for years, so I’m glad they’ve done that.
The 5 free transfers might make it possible to plan that you want X many players from Y team until a certain fixture swing, leading to grouping fixtures together & deciding you only want to use a certain amount of transfers to then leave so many free when the fixtures swing.
You could plan most of the season that way
we can also use the extra transfer to hedge against price rises more easily now

It could be another round of tranfers in line with the PL January window
I think that rolling up to 5 free transfers is great to help re-engage those who may have life get in the way of them keeping up with the game for a bit. They may miss out on scoring well for a few weeks but then have a surplus of free transfers to revamp their team and get back into the groove.
5FT is amazing! Less stressing about having to use a transfer after 2GWs.. effectively allows managers to chill for the first 5GWs now and enables 5 changes! 😁👍

darwin at 7.5 is now a bargin and eze and saka also were fouled alot and teams play through them so makes me want saka now
Surely if FPL know what the mystery chip is already, there's no way we'll get to January without it being leaked.

All that will happen with the mystery chip is certain people will find out what it is and plan there team before release of info and others won't find out and it will just be like the leak debacles from last year and are planning accordingly. Release your rules at the beginning of the game !
I'm assuming that due to the timing it will be a replacement/adjustment to the second wildcard, and as such it will probably be a chip that you can't really gain much advantage by having prior knowledge of the way it works.
I'd also expect that this seasons higher prices and the 5 transfer accumulation is going to be something that dovetails with the new card, too, so I think we'd all do well to try and save a few transfers up for that period in case it becomes a big advantage.

not sure if anyone brought this up but maybe the mystery chip is something to do with the transfer window? like allowing you to swap all your players to someone different from the same team? or just getting rid of players who left the league for free?
If we need to plan for it before using this Mystery chip, then I hope, FPL will share it with us in advance, and not let us disadvantaged by the insiders!
I liked the euros FF game where you where in control of your squad over the GW . Being able to sub players in and switch captain was good. Definitely was more engaging.
That's good for short fantasy game like the Euros and Champions League (which the exact same system) because otherwise you wouldn't be able to recover from bad selections you made in the beggining, giving way too much advantage for those who were lucky enough to pick the correct players in GW1.
For a long FPL game like Premier League I think it's way too much.
Not everyone has the time to keep changing their team multiple times during the weekend and the game would become only about trying too hard instead of planning ahead.
@@AllMenMustServe Yes, I couldn't think of anything worse than doing that for the PL game. People don't want to have to login every day to react to every little change. I hope they aren't on a course to ruin the game because of public clamour for 'change'.
@AllMenMustServe , must admit FPL does feel l8ke a marathon especially as the season ends. I've had to many a weekend ruined with wrong captain selection. Would have liked to be able to rectify it
@@peppermintfreedom I liked their changes this year. People are complaining about the 5 transfers but I find it interesting.
People can now take more punts or fix possible injuries, red cards etc without taking hits.
I found the PL quite boring on that regard because you just couldn't take some punts for a single gameweek or 2 consecutive gameweeks on players nobody had because then you had to take hits to transfer those players out.
And also, there will be more diversity on team selection because you'll then have more room to fix it later. That's the part I like the most about the 5 transfers. There will still be people copying the content creators week in and week out, but I guess with more transfers people will try to differentiate more.
I don’t understand how there is no change when it comes to mid-game week substitutions how it was in EURO and WC fantasy. That is the best feature by FAR

The other change that results with holding more transfers is that there will be slightly less argument of how difficult it is to bring back that expensive player that takes multiple transfers to get in. Minor, but if you are fortunate enough to hold several transfers, you can avoid some hits.
Maybe the new chip revolves around the 5 transfers. I’d like to think that it’s an OP/rotating type chip (eg. W30 - triple defender points, W31 - assists worth double points) that can be used multiple weeks in a season, but at the cost of burning a couple of transfers each time.
That would prevent 80-90% of teams sitting on 5 transfers, and also adds a bit of flair for having to decide whether or not to activate the chip.

I think mystery chip will be something different every year. So it'll always be hidden until January.
That way they keep the engagement hype aspect going. New reveal every year.
I would have preferred 3 transfers built up. I think they should punish those more with hit points for those that don’t hold the patience FPL want you to potentially have.

I would be intrigued by a second free hit and bb which needs to he used in the first half of the season to spice things up, same as wc so can be easily implemented?
I like The five transfers. More rewarding for those who plan ahead, and maybe less constant mass transfers that make player prices swing wildly.
Think the mystery chip will be a pick your poison chip. So instead of getting another WC in new year you get to choose to play any one of the chips TC,BB or WC
The five free transfers will also keep engaged those players who give up after not playing the game for a few GWs. There are hundreds of 000s who do this each year.
I wish they changed the BPS to give extra points for a goal from outside the box and extra for a goal from a half volley and extra for a goal from a volley.
FPL Challenge for me is reducing all the time I think about it.
I don't think I have burned a single transfer last year. I don't see a huge upside for rolling more transfers. The only people who benefit are those who set up their team well from the start and don't need transfers. And the people that don't get injuries. So it will be harder to catch up to people who start well and are lucky. The start of the season is really important now, especially with the combination of fewer blank and double GW's.
This change could also increase the rate of player price fluctuation. Should be interesting
The mystery chip is a really smart move from the devs. They can see what people speculate about for the chip and then choose the best idea from the lot. That's my guess on why they ask us to wait till January.

I’m going to make a team I think can last 2-3 game weeks so I can have 3 or 4 transfers for gameweek 4 as mini wildcard hopefully letting me use the chip later
I think they need to seperate def midfield and give them their own points system and maybe make two mandatory
If Jack Grealish plays regularly next season will smash BPS every game lol. Shooting one is interesting, but I don't agree with it, feels like your rewarding someone for missing chances, might make Nunez a good pick lol say what you want but he actually hits a good percentage of shots on target just usually straight at the keeper.
How does the bonus points work? Is it if you get bonus points and have been fouled you get those as an extra bonus
On the mystery chip, they need to add it to the UI, but are worried about balance, so they are seeing how the 5 FT thing plays out.
if reducing BPS for a goalie save is a good thing, they should go further and remove assists & goals full stop from BPS calculations.
The mystery chip imo, could be a chip that adjust the scoring of goalkeepers. Previously, 3 saves make a point, but for that chip, every save gives a point instead.
I like that they increased the max amount of banked transfers. Not sure if it will affect myself much or even at all but all the casuals in my work/hobby leagues will love that they're not behind on transfers if they miss couple weeks.
I think that alone will make the game more fun for me. I hate seeing people get disheartened and giving up after a difficult start
Anyone know how it will work though. Coz last year if you had 2 transfers and used 1 you still had 2 transfers the following week. So if we have 4 transfers and use 3 do we get 5 the next week?
Honestly don’t think any of these changes improve the game. If everyone just saves transfers it’ll make the game dull. Would have been better to give everyone two free transfers per week but none could be saved. Also price changes should only happen after a deadline with everyone knowing who will rise and who will fall when the following week reloads.
Completely agree with all this. I love FPL but I'd prefer I didn't have to check price prediction sites every night - the site itself telling me about the upcoming price changes after the deadline would be perfect - even if it's only a day or so in advance.
There's a lot of managers I know that lost interest because their lives got busy and price changes were crucifying them, so it could actually improve engagement.
2 transfers would allow more risk taking imo & greater team diversity which would make things far more fun
So is there a limit to how long you can keep rebuilding 5 transfers? I.e I save up to 5 use 2 have 3 save 2 more have 5 again etc etc until I take it back down to 0. I think it would be better if for instance I save 5 but have to use maybe 3 in one transfer, take it back down to 2. Think it could get a bit too easy otherwise???🤷♂️🤷♂️

Mystery chip should let us play any number of any position for a week. So you get unli transfers and can play 6 midfielders and 4 strikers for one week only if we want.

There isn't a massive overhaul which is good but saving up to 5 free transfers is abit much. 3 max would be perfect

The chip announcement is coming before January, that could be December or more likely before the start of the season… Just another PR push. Price announcement, new rules, launch, then new chip.
I think because we now have less double game weeks they might do a double game week chip where your whole team gets double points 🤔
New signing bonus chip. One of your transfers gets double points.
Mystery chip will hopefully be a retrospect chip where you can go back to a previous gameweek and correct a captain pick or transfer and get the points you missed out on. Lol. Thinkning about the pour souls who triple captained Haaland last season. Hehehe

I hate looking at players I wanted to ditch several weeks ago, but injuries, fixture changes etc meant I had to leave them in
Having more free transfers carry over makes less sense this season if there is hardly any blanks or doubles, so I would have rather had a different big change (ball recoveries).
Keeping the transfers will help keep the casuals more involved. If they hadn't made a transfer in weeks suddenly they will have up to 5 instead of just 2
Mystery chip should be a chip redeemer you’ve already used. Potentially play the same chip two weeks in a row
Goal keeper scoring should be at least 20 points. They have no business scoring goals
