I picture on the other end of her earpiece is Colbert in his post-talkshow robe, sitting on a loveseat of money with his wife, saying "you can do whatever you want, Taylor. It's your show!"
The incessant giggles are from all that early morning masturbation. Also, I’m sorry your misogyny prevents you from appreciating Sophie’s excellent sense of humor. I hope you overcome your inceldom soon.
I could watch this all day. Best new thing on TV. Taylor oozes charm and charisma. She is a complete natural as a host of a show that is one big wink to itself.
Not only is Paul just a funny, charismatic guy. But he's a comedian's comedian. He's always first to get other people's jokes and gives full/hearty laughs.
She’s so quick. The less precious the structure, the better. Be petty and take away points at random! Fight with the guests! Maybe some sort of dark joke bonus would be fun. If people aren’t writing complaints to CBS, you’re not pushing hard enough.
@@jasonflay8818agreed. Usually the first few episodes they are trying to find the line between "stay on topic vs going wild" and as they go on, the show develops it's own personality.
Agreed, though I think that is something that many U.S. attempts at panel shows have historically struggled with (compared to U.K. style panel shows), outside of the few traditional talk show contexts where certain 'trusted' guests would be 'invited' to stay on the couch past their own segment and engage with the following guests. And in that context, there was almost a paradoxical quality in signaling to the audience with the 'invitation' that the guest on the couch would be assuming the role of trickster / agent of chaos, but still safely within the authority of the host. The only U.S. show that I can think of that truly let loose and embraced chaos was the Chris Gethard show, and that varied quite wildly in quality, and probably relied to much upon the manic joy of communal performative transgression and a distilled sense of discovery (of tribe, of novelty, of strange unexplored possibilities, etc.) to ever be permissible or sustainable on a mainstream network at the high frequency release schedule they're aiming for with After Midnight - which it should be noted, were not typically the norm for the 8-12 or less episodes per season, pseudo-scripted U.K. panel shows. From these observations, I expect the show will have to develop scripting devices to facilitate spontaneous interludes which can be efficiently integrated into their program structure, production and editing process - this will require guests with ability and inclination to 'riff' and for the show to have an established a specific tone and feel to provide signposts to keep that content within specific usable boundaries. These will, in turn, require time, practice, and experimentation. Alternatively, you can channel Craig Ferguson like there is no tomorrow, get somebody to build you a gay robot skeleton for a sidekick and, in his own words, 'Not give a *tootsifrutsy*'...
@@sir_vix as I was reading your comment I was going to counter with Craig (one of the best IMO), glad you brought him up. I agree, US tends to be more rigid, but if you go back to some of the crazy shows in the 70s ( tic tac toe, what's my line, I've got a secret, etc) those were hilarious because the host gave the panelists leeway, so it can be done. Also this is show #2. It hasn't even been on a week yet. Give it a couple months, it'll get there. I find my self audibly laughing watching the clips, which is a good sign.
I honestly thought Tomlinson was just hosting a new late night talk show (which doesn't really interest me). Now that I know it's a reboot of @Midnight I'm definitely going to watch it and I think Taylor's going to do awesome. I have missed that show ever since with went off the air, and I hope this new version provides the same showcase for up-and-coming comedians that the original did.
Critics of @fterMidnight have to give it some time to evolve. It's all about the "game" of comedy and what boundaries can be breached. I was laughing like a hyena throughout the presentation!💥👍🏻
I'm mad it's not actually a talk show. If it's going to be a game they should do it like 8 of 10 cats dies countdown. The points don't matter and there's time to breathe and joke around between games.
It's really cool getting to see it evolve before our eyes! Especially if you're a fan of Taylor ❤ This segment gave me high hopes it'll be a given a fair chance to bloom into something special 😊 I really like their panels for the most part so far
Am so impressed you guys cast the amazing Sophie Buddle! Now I will keeping tabs on the show to see who else you get. Would love to see William Montgomery.
I can tell most of the ppl in the comments never watched the original @Midnight on Comedy Central back in the day. This holds up to the original pretty well so far ❤️

I loved the voice-overs, I was hoping she was going to have them do that after that first clip. 😂 I like the way Taylor is keeping the show loose and not very serious, makes it more fun ❤
I love these sorts of comedian based "game shows"/"talk shows"/etc. Two suggestions: The set has a VERY loud aesthetic, the show might have more longevity if the set wasn't going "Hey look at me, I'm starved for attention and I need your approval!". I also think you could really lean into the points don't matter concept. If the points you award are nearly random, no one feels like the comics are seriously being graded (which prevents any feels-bads, and allows more effortless point awarding), and allows the point awarding process to be used for random punchlines. For example, "I'm awarding you negative 137 points because your answer didn't include enough ."
Hey, my litlle fruiteria babies! Those are jackfruit! So, you see, they already have people name, which means that eating them is not a fruterian thing...
Please give this brilliant woman, comedian and professional a talk show or variety show like Trevor Noah. Why am I watching this shining talent as a game show host?!
Give it time. Wait till they get in the groove for the long haul. Taylor's persona is indeed suitable for a talk show, and @fter Midnight could evolve into something unrecognizable in a short period of time.
Sophie crushed that voice-over.
Yeah, that was amazing!
she even nailed the voice!
I have seen her live many times. Do check out her special.
I needed a laugh like that. That was so good.
I thought it was actually her at first lmao

"None of this means anything." best line. I don't know if she's actually checking in with someone, but she definitely sells it.
She is so spot on and just a great host for this format she really shines !! Go Taylor 🎉

Omg the day in the life of the wife of a billionaire with Sophie was hilarious 😂

Paul's perfect attendance joke is fun because he's the first person to have played on both versions of the show.
Whitney Cummings was on the first episode...so I believe your analysis is incorrect.
Aparna too
And Kurt also. WTF
Calm down guys, they didn't mean 'first'. Right Joe? You meant 'Only one worth noticing, so far'.
If Paul wins on this, then he can be the first to win on both. Not to mention the all time winningest.
Holy hell - the more off script this goes, the better it gets.
Most panel shows are like that. The less structured they are and folks get a chance to riff the better it is.

I like the idea of the show "constantly evolving". Having different segments that are not always the same, sounds good to me.
I wish she got to open the show with a short monologue!
Watching Taylor turn into an evil host over time is going to be amazing
each season she'll get a little more powermad. by season 7 it'll be Hunger Games but with jokes.
Day in the life is the funniest game on this show so far
Italiano Jones and Alimony Tony on the same show!!
Yeah they get the good improv kids on, which is smart. It's fun when I can say, "I know that guy from Threedom!"
Sophie, against expectations, CRUSHED that.
I love the different games they're playing, this and photo recreation are my favorites so far.

How has it been that long!?
The guy is a fruitarian but opened an unripe cempedak 😂 Full of glue on its skin
That's what I thought too while watching, I felt something is off about the Cempedak.
Every time Taylor has to talk to backstage I lose it 😂
"I ate a little piece of human flesh" It's funny because it's true!
The Conan is strong with this one😂
Love it! Keep up the self aware humor of how ridiculous everything is and I see this show going for a long time!😂😂😂
