Glad all went well and it fixed the issue. I was a little worried when you were going to blow off the little screen with shop air, but....I had faith. You know what you're doing, of course! I've learned the hard way on things like that.
leaves are starting to sprout, it's time to start cutting grass but there's too much water right now and I don't want to get the mower stuck in the mud.
@@57bagre I chopped up all the leaves that have blown into my yard from my neighbors over the winter today and have to sharpen blades, change oil, grease & adjust valves on my mower before I start mowing for the season.
@@57bagre I change the oil, filter and grease it every spring. I'm pretty hard on it chopping leaves in the fall and today's oil is garbage so it's cheap insurance.
My choke lever broke on my trimmer. Turned out the lever wasn't available but the whole carb was only 15 bucks. Knock on wood I've never needed to take it apart. I always use fuel preservative but I don't know if that has anything to do with keeping the fuel from decomposing inside the carb and clogging things up. One thing I do that I won't recommend, but it works for me is I run a oily fuel mix. I don't use the modern 48:1 or higher (fuel to oil) that many use. I still use the old 20:1. The trimmer's lasted over 20 years and my exhaust doesn't clog. I imagine if I were using low quality oil that would be a problem. I did have to adjust the mixture, as more oil means less fuel, so I had to go richer.
I'm not sure I would like too much oil because it will foul the spark plug and carbon up the muffler and maybe carbon up the piston and head as well. But if it works for you then that's good.
@@57bagre I'm surprised I haven't fouled the plug. It's the same plug that's been there for 20 years. All I can think is that I use a very high quality, racing two stroke oil that must burn very cleanly with almost no residue. I should probably change that plug, now that you have reminded me.

It is safer to just clean the screen with carb or brake cleaner alone and no air.

Me, just blades, tires and belts but don't bother with the other until I suspect a problem or it is really getting old.
