You always seem surprised that your viewers can finish a 17 minute video. 17 minutes ain't nothin when the content is this damn good! Keep it up GS!
thanks very much really appreciate you guys who watch the longer videos. Makes the extra work that goes into making them worth it.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Thankfully GS, most of your subs have an attention span greater than TikTok's.
@@sbg911i mean a *lot* of combat flying involves patience, so to enjoy the content ya kinda have to go into it with more patience than the average tiktok viewer lol
Mavericks fly a z-biased route. They're not slow-they just fly as high as possible to hit at a high angle of attack so it flies farther than the pilot expects.
As an aside, in the 1980's I got to see videos of pilots live shooting the Maverick during testing and when it z-biased almost every one of them said "it went ballistic" immediately. Then the target would blow up a few seconds later...
Tried looking this up, but couldn't find much beyond highly technical papers about missile guidance systems.
Z-biased route means the missile comes off the rail and at some point on it's journey, it will shoot up and then come down on it's target from directly above?
Is this to make it harder to defend?
I can only talk to what it did until 1990. The idea was, like the Javelin, to hit armor from the top where it is most vulnerable. We heard anecdotally that the Israeli military would replace the warhead with ballast so the internals of the tank would be salvageable after the missile kinetically killed the tank.
In the 80s the missile trajectory was determined by the guidance section based on range, altitude, and speed at launch. No pilot inputs were involved.
That last gun run...my God. The amount of power that thing has is phenomenal.
Yes! I’m so here for this. And way to go adding more of the visuals! Your cinematic eye is criminally underrated.
As a current crew chief on 135’s, that landing made me tear up 😢
Damn heavies crew chief. Must be fucking nice. I’m stuck with shitty F-16s that don’t work half the time. My first week working I redballed 8 different jets mainly for hydro issues and not even the spares would pass the “bit” test so I couldn’t launch anything 😂
What damage does it to the A-10?
I’m not from the US, especially not their military so I don’t have specific information about it, but I always heard the A-10 can take a beating?
Does the rough touchdown actually destroy something in those planes, do they have fragile landing gear, or is it just because of general wear and tear of the landing gear that happens due to rough landings, like in every other plane?
The cinematic ground shots were very nice, especially on the gun runs 😄
Favorite line by GS, hold this my dude!
Awesome! Love the A-10! Called them in a ton! Colorado Army Veteran 1984 - 1993 MOS 31C2P
These videos are exhilarating and addictive. This is my new favorite channel, just gotta watch them all.
I absolutely love the A-10C videos. It's such a great aircraft to fly and fight with.
"Move some mud!" Great content as usual GS! Glad you are giving the A10 some love!
as a kid in the late 80s I had a model A-10 i had to glue together. I was pissed bc I wanted it to be a toy. Still was a fun process - It's such an iconic aircraft. Thanks for all the vids @Growling Sidewinder! It's cool to see your capabilities develop and also to learn about the details of the systems that make the A-10 so formidable. Keep em comin!
Man I love that you are enjoying the Hog. We should team up one day! The only thing cooler than one warthog is two warthogs.
I agree dude I’d love to do that. Hit me up growlingsidewinder@hotmail.com would love to chat and set something up.
these a-10 videos are some of my favorites on your channel.
Nice camera work from the ground. The sound that thing makes on a gun run is horrifying.
“Hold this my dude”
*vaporizes Hind w/ 2000 LB vibe check*
I love how he read the comments and was like Imma do this, bloody awesome video good job @Growling Sidewinder
ngl, been loving all the A-10 lately. Easily one of my favorite planes, and A2G is surprisingly entertaining to watch.
Just so you know, one of your viewers hand built the qualifying compressor and cold end for the AGM-65D! I did it on an old Bridgeport mill and a manual tool room lathe using fixtures and cutting tools, yes you guessed it built by me. Good times back in the early 80's! 👍👍
New A-10 content every day, I'm lovin' it!
Dude your getting me into pc gaming, my wallet already hurts from having a diesel
Direct hit!!! That high 2k pounder was sweet!
Really enjoying the A10 content. I'd love the opportunity to show you a few of the other weapons, finer points of the TGP and HMD, HOTAS shortcuts and some improvements to tactics that I've noticed could be made. The A10 can be insanely effective once you start to learn that stuff.
Would you be up for making a shorts style video on these? Could even post on the discord, I'm sure many, myself included would be immensely grateful! Could even be as simple as a voice/text over some gameplay
That tank at the 15:45sec mark literally came off the ground from the GAU/8!!!! 🙌
The bomb cam on the 2000 lb bomb was awesome!
I love this channel. Can't wait to see a tornado GR4 doing ATG in DCS
Thank you. I enjoy the close ups of ordnance impacts
On armored vehicles, you'll have better luck with a rear aspect attack with the gun. Front and side armor is heavier, and the newer tanks are more resistant to the 30mm (better steel).
Also, when setting SPI with the TGP, don't forget to set it where the treads/wheels hit the ground. In a nutshell, the TGP doesn't see the object, it sees slant range to it's internal map, so if you aim for the center of the vehicle, you are actually setting the SPI behind it. Big reason why so many new to the Hog end up dropping bombs behind a target rather than on it, or off to the side if maneuvering. Also makes for a faster lock for the Maverick when you don't have to give it a nudge. The larger/shallower the angle of approach, the bigger the error if you don't allow for it. With practice and a better understanding of what I'm saying, you'll get to where you can lock up a SPI and put a bomb in a wastepaper basket from 20K. :)
Love the A-10 and the ATG action! Great including cinematic ground view of hits/damage. Hope you carry some CBU’s more often, love the area coverage on AA sites and clustered planes/vehicles! A couple in the Scud site would have been epic. Rock on with the Hog! 😁👍
Love the fly-over whine of those engines!
Always gotta love A10 gameplay ♥
Another great video, GS! Your channel continues to grow and the comments are from viewers who appreciate all your hard work. I'm really happy for you, brother! BTW, the shot at 14:02 following that 2,000 pounder into the target was sweet! I used to do that a lot in IL-2 Sturmovik back in the day. I never understood that quote about "cool guys don't look at explosions." Baloney! 💣 💥 👀
I love that he's now flying the A-10. Not a lot of people on yt fly it and that's kinda sad because its such a good plane in DCS.
after 2016 all our air bases use an GM403 radar and an TPS 77 arrived in 2019 defended by c ram and pansar s2 and an AN/TWQ-1 Avenger on the air 2 f16 block 70
I was hoping for another A10 video today and you didn’t disappoint
Yessss, I love A-10C Warthog ground strikes!! Please keep doing these!!
I love you getting into air to ground stuff and especially with the a10cii which is my favourite atg platform in DCS. I am really looking forward to watching you explore it more. Please keep it coming! ....Just as an inspiration: the APKWS rockets are really op - not against armour though - CBU97/105 might be better there. And how about really low level attacks against let's say an S-300? It does work, believe me ;) Anyway, thank you so much for your work!
Ever seen an enlisted man chew out an officer? You will with that landing
The sound of the A-10 dumping 30mm and flying over from the ground is so satisfying... I saw those things clear an entire hill top in Korea..
I did learn A-G with F16 and I was surprise how fun and effective it was to use the MAV and bombs. Great video !
Love these vids, especially since you added the ground view shots! I'm learning the A10C just now as well, it's a lot of fun when you finally get it right! Keep em comin!
Loving your A10 videos.......we want more of it
Love this videos more than the usual dogfight.
Love the A10, its such an awesome looking aircraft, the Battleship of the Sky
I ❤ the A-10! Awesome video! I hope it stays in service for many more years. No way an F-35 can replace that gun.
It's not the gun that modern airframes can't replace. It's the combination of (low)speed, low altitude performance, armor, pilot visibility, payload, and loiter time. You can do the CAS job in a Super Tucano, but the A-10 can carry a max weight A-29 as it's payload.
I love the longer videos, esp. your WWII and WWI stuff. Love watchin ya blow stuff outta the sky.
Sure do love the A10 CAS action videos! Nothing like some BRRRTTT to brighten up y'er day!
Nicely done - Thanks for this GS!!
I asked for those close up replay gun runs and next video...BRRRRRRRTTTTT!!! Love it. Lovin these A-10 vids. Keep em coming.
The stand off capabilities of the mavricks are nuts for a/g. When i first started DCS the only thing I wanted to do was mavricks on the f/a-18 then the f-16 and now im learning the A-10 and muuhhhh god its fun.
bombs better, jsow much better, mavericks okay though. good if you fly low and need the extra distance because you cant make altitude due to SAM threats
@@jonathanpfeffer3716 carry more, more damage, GBU way more accurate, bigger explosion, longer range. i find the mavericks good if im low and need range
Great video! The ground cameras raise fun really high! :D
The 23rd Fighter Wing were in my area before they went to Georgia. I used to see A-10s all the time. It's one of the coolest and most unique aircraft we have. I am loving this content so much.
I'm coming up the learning curve of the A-10C now (more like a cliff). Thanks for the encouragement to stick with it.
This is great stuff, and I appreciate the editing, very nice!
Them POV shots are sweet as can be! Im loving this!
Thanks for the A2G content, it's been a long time coming and well worth the wait :)
I'm glad the A-10 is in DCS and gets the love it deserves because it will be a sad day when it retires
Great stuff with the Warthog GS, looks like you're having fun
I think an SDB with a small rocket booster would be a good addition to the hawgs arsenal, or a "motion tracking" 5in rocket, like a "competent Hydra". Although....wanting to get back into plastic models I wouldn't mind building an "A-10D" with conformal weapon stations on the fuselage, like the ones fitted to the F-4 or F-14. I'd think AGM-88 HARMs would look great on an A-10!!!
I am indeed thoroughly enjoying this. I bet it's so satisfying to play😫
Watching your A10C vids inspired me to dust off the A10C from the hangar and start doing some serious ground pounding. But unfortunately, except for the gun I don’t remember any of the other weapons stuff. Have to make time for those tutorials again.
Shorter bursts on your gun runs. Think like one mouse click at a time. pipper on, click, pipper back on, click, etc.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Well the brrrrrrrt certainly sounds good. The brpt brpt brpt of a triple tap, watching the vast majority of the rounds impact the target is equally rewarding!
I don’t have a way to play the game, but I’m enjoying watching how you fly - keep up the good work sir!
Love the long videos bro. Keep them coming. Especially the a10
As a fellow A-10 pilote, I really like this kind of videos. Did you made the mission with the quick mission editor? I would love to fly this mission.
Ho and, it's pretty nice to see that with dcs 2.8 some clouds get slightly in the way as time past during the mission! Good job GS!!!
Hi there yes I do, I released the last mission in the community section if you want to download it and try it yourself it's there.
@@GrowlingSidewinder I too would like to fly this mission. Looked for it in user files in downloads section but couldn't find it. Can you please drop a link to it?
As a Weapons troop in the AF, watching you drop those ords brings me immense pleasure and joy 😂
love those a-10 videos, really puts things into perspective on how terrifying those are!
Loving these videos man! Could watch them all day!
I simple man, I see a10 I think brrrrrrrrrrrrrrt, I watch. Loving this content dude
Despite its limitations, love the A-10C , warthogs and all...
Awesome stuff 👏 It may seem small but I'd definitely include the landing back at base in videos 😊 Everyone loves a landing lol
Please continue with more A2G content, very enjoyable seeing something other than A2A fights, keep up the fantastic content!
GS, I am digging the ATG stuff!!!! Keep it up!!!
I think the point of 2000 pound bombs is never having to say you're sorry. 😂 Great stuff! Thanks for zooming in on the targets, TGP screen, and gun/CCIP reticules. It's hard to see that stuff on youtube. Great external view cinematics too. 👍
Post 2000 lb bomb drop on damaged Hind - can confirm additional repairs now required.
;-)
The ground shots are great to watch. keep it up
Nice editing and camera work!
"Why doesn't the A10 have HARMs" I ask that my self everyday lol
I'm sure you're not expecting a sensible answer, but I suspect it might be something to do with the way that the HARM gains a lot of effective range based on the speed and altitude at which it is launched. I'm guessing that an A10 would have a difficult time getting them off safely against some of the longer range SAM systems - compared to say an F-18 or F-16.
Love the video! Great drop on the two tanks :)
As a former A-10 crew chief, I would have a certain pilot out there helping change some tires. 😈
The Hind does NOT in fact do well against 2000 pound bombs. The first air to air kill recorded by a F-15E was against an Iraqi Hind, with a laser guided 2000 pound bomb on valentines day, 1991.
Nice! You’ve probably figured this out by now, but when you launch a Maverick (or drop a LGB or JDAM) there’s a countdown timer to impact in the bottom right of the TGP MFCD.
Nice video, great to switch it up with a completely different aircraft. Makes me want to take the A10 out again after a long time. You should try out the laser-guided rockets, they are insane as well 😁
Hi Growling Sidewinder, when fighting A-G you should defend missiles by getting altetude, not diving. Diving is ok for A-A but remember, the SAM has a dome and the dome will get tighter on top so get altetude. :)
Love the A10C II... definitely my favorite plane in DCS
Super COOL as ALWAYS. THX mate.
GS: "If you're still sticking around at this point."
Me: "Oh no, it's almost over!" 🙁
That 2000 pounder hit that poor Hind so hard, its grandchildren felt it.
If I remember correctly the Air Force is actually a greatly modified crop duster to perform CAS, and from what I hear it is doing very well. It so simple yet devastating I love it.
Yup. The Sky Warden, as it’s called, is literally just an upgraded Air Tractor given additional tech by L3Harris to function as a cheap light CAS aircraft in regions with light resistance.
A-10 with HARMs? That sounds like a new "what if?" video to me.
I'd love to see you do a playlist of documentary videos covering the history, capability and other interesting information about the various aircraft in DCS. Start with the main US fighters and then work your way through the Russian and other aircraft.
When you said you hate hinds those heli-dogfight you've done with Longshot popped up in my mind and made me laugh
GS's commanding officer: "Let me get this straight. You used a 2000-pounder to kill one damaged Hind?"
GS: "It was very satisfying, sir."
GS's CO: "Well, that's all that matters, son."
Loving the A2G content! Please, try a mission with the Su-25A as well. It's not as modern as the A-10, but it's fun too.
We love this AG content. Maybe showcase the viggen next?
Dude….Thanks for cranking your vids out on a nearly daily basis, and a big congrats on the upcoming 400K subs!! Absolutely love your ground attack stuff in the A10, but also really looking forward to the A1 Skyraider. My dad flew that in Korea.
Man I'm loving these warthog videos
I really enjoy the story aspect more than anything. Allows me to sort of get immersed in the video more. Air to air air to ground. Whatever it is.
Love the A-10, my second fav after the F-16. Keep them coming! 😁

So as you can see I've kind of started to learn how to do very basic SEAD or DEAD in the A-10, of course there remains a million things to learn but I think progress has been decent so far, thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video, Much Love.
So, those 2.75" Hydra rockets you were shooting. The latest warhead is an anti-material (bunker)/personnel/armor multi-purpose unit combined with the APKWS laser-guided seeker head and maneuver surfaces (Lockheed is also working on GPS-enabled guidance for the Hydra 70, called the DAGR). Each one is a 100% kill on any reasonably sized target. Particularly against armor, you wouldn't need a heavy/expensive Maverick/Hellfire/JAGM (the missile replacing the Hellfire/Maverick) as the APKWS Hydra rockets with new warheads come in at under $30k each and are also much lighter.
@@jamison884 after 2016 all our air bases use an GM403 radar and an TPS 77 arrived in 2019 defended by c ram and pansar s2 and an AN/TWQ-1 Avenger on the air 2 f16 block 70 he cant win in 1 a10 not on his own
Glad you discovered the gun. I love CAS in the A-10.
(It’s a blast, no matter which side of the gun you’re on.)
15:32 - T-72s arent that resilient, its just you are shooting them from angles where theyr armor is effective.
GAU-8s AP round has +- 65mm of penetration at the ranges you would generally employ it, the T-72 frontal armor is around 500+ mm of effective raw armor against AP, sides at 80mm (so still way above your capability) and only rear and top plates are vulnerable to the gun
thing is, thats raw thickness that increases when shot at an angle - to lower the effective protection you want to be as close as you can to 90 degrees flat as you can be - as low to the ground if your target is side or rear, as high angle from above if you are going for an engine deck
to put it short, if your goal is to kill a T-72 you need rear aspect shot, you have decent chance with side aspect IF you can score repeated hits to the same area and its basically useless to try a frontal aspect.
Where can I find and download DCS and btw I love your content I just subscribed. Pls answer!!!
