@@stunnerlife3288 for most games I'm sure yes. If you're going to be playing Microsoft flight simulator you may not be able to turn all the settings up to their highest but I'm sure that will be fine.
I also already preordered. As happy owner of G1 i can recommend to everyone a step up to 2160p. In worst case you can return it or sell it if you don't like it, but i am 100% sure you will be happy from it.
yeah same for me, despite all the problems of the G1, it's real hard for me to go back to the rift S, even more now they impose a facebook account. Only for the image quality the G2 cannot be a disappointment. The gap with rift S is already awesome with the G1 and it seams that the G2 is improved even more. Thank you HP and bye bye facebook.

Thanks for your videos. I'm hoping I can buy a 3080 before my G2 arrives. Perhaps Nvidia will give you a sample as soon as they announce next week? It would be great to see how G2 performs on the new cards.
You know, on one recent video someone commented that they wanted to compare the G2 with the CV1. I kinda laughed it off a bit since this one is so clearly superior in almost every way. But, for those with CV1s it could be useful and for the rest of us it would be kind of interesting for a memory lane perspective to have through the lens footage of every generation of VR. Like a chronological showing of how far we have come.

what a great channel. Let me ask u a question. HP recommends 8th gen CPUs for this headset, but would it work on the x99 platform (i7 5820k, i75930k and the like, that's haswell E family)? Hi, great video. I have some issues with your pricing though. The VALVE index kit is cheaper if you want to use the Valve index controllers. Almost the same price for just the headsets + tracking £459 for Index headset + £139 for base stations = £598 vs £538.38 for just the G2 headset. But to use the Valve Index controllers with the G2 it is £538.80 + £139 index base station + £259 index controllers = £936.80 vs £919 for the full Index Kit and you have to do a lot of setup to get the controllers to work with the G2. Overall tracking aside the Index headset is nearly £90 cheaper than the G2 headset.
How much better would you say the HP Reverb G2 is compared to the Samsung Odyssey+ ? I mean I paid $350 for the Odyssey+ complete with controllers so very cheap.

Bit late to the party here but i'm hoping to be entering the Vr world when the Reverb G2 is released (significantly because of your excitement for this headset convincing me now is the time!) and was wondering if the resolution of the G2 would negate some of usual complaints against programs like Virtual Desktop for more "everyday" style use?

Good video Sebastian. But I'm not sure I agree with the price being a positive reason. It depends where you are coming from. If upgrading from the original HTC Vive then you already have base.stations and vive wand controllers. So you could purchase the Index headset alone for £450, which is less than what the G2 is priced at.

CV1 owner here and just don't know if its worth it or if I should wait for next gen (Rift 2? Index2? Reverb g2?). Main think that has me down about g2 is narrow FOV. I want something like Star VR but higher res.

Would really like to see some VS. Pimax 5k Oled and possibly an 8k version if you can! With index return rates, I shiver at the thought of going that way and the inside out of the g2 isn't overly desirable so I find myself stuck between with very limited resources for proper comparisons
I heard the Pimax has terrible lens distortion still. The tracking shouldn't be an issue with the G2. If it's like the Rift s it should't be that much of a factor. Judging from his lens footage the Index has a ok screen, not really much better and sometimes worse than the Rift S. It just has superior refresh rate.
'Tracking has improved' doesn't really help. I sold my HTC Vive Cosmos just because of that. Tracking was horrible for that price tag. So where does the tracking of this VR stand in relation to others? Or a demonstration perhaps? Not just moving hands, but those problematic movements like when you bring your hands close to your head, or when you are 'holding a rifle' with 2 hands? I am thinking about Oculus quest 2 and this one, and tracking will be the deciding factor here. And the following bit where you say 'if youre not happy with the tracking...' makes me lean more towards Oculus Quest 2.
Can you make a video on watching 3D movie using Reverb G2? I'm thinking to get this to replace my projector which is quite dim when watching 3D movie. Been thinking either get the Cinera edge or this VR headset. Advantage is I can use Reverb G2 replace my aging Samsung Odyssey OG.
I believe the highest IPD setting on the reverb G2 is 68 and I am told my personal IPD is 69. Is this likely to cause an issue? This will be my first foray into VR so I have zero experience to draw from. Thank you

I did have an opportunity to borrow a friend's Rift S last Nov for one night and I was mesmerized in DCS World. I decided then and there I would spend whatever I could afford to get that experience for myself.
1 You need a high end gpu. This headset is 4k 90hz twice (but easier to run than regular screens on same resolution) 2 Everything in vr will look perfectly smooth if your pc is good.
Quest 2 is a Standalone headset, you do not need a PC to play games. Other than that, quality wise the G2 wins in each department according to reviews that are out.
@@Verociity the thing is, when u turn on your headset (via steam od oculis) the software itself "thinks" that you are in your previous room. So, if u change the area, well... youll find yourslef with a different boundaries.
Would love a video comparison of the pimax 8k x production model vs hp reverb g2. Still not convinced this is better then the pimax 8k x. FOV for the g2 is also very disapointing. HP will probably slowly increase the FOV at each release, very disappointed.
I have a strong feeling Valve is releasing a generation 2 Headset in spring 2021. They're the leading market for VR and helped HP with this headset. So this is a way to put loads of consumer money into the business. Have on company release a crazy good HMD, and the big dog company release an even greater HMD 6 months later. Anywho, I am still getting the G2 no doubt. Can't fucking wait.
Sebastian, I just read the G2 specs, and it says it has gyroscope and accelerometer. Do you know if those can be used to get 3dof in the dark, for movie watching? It would be great if yes, but a disappointment if not, given they are already in the headset.

However it seems to me that if the G2 has a gyroscope and accelerometer inside, it would make sense to use it for 3dof, like all pimax do. I am getting the Reverb G2, but it's not perfect. The controllers could be much better. And I have no idea about WMR software, etc. I do trust Microsoft, HP and Valve over FB. The Quest 2 is great too. It sucks they force FB acct login, but it is dirt cheap, they're trying to make VR mainstream. They roll out updates very quickly, constant improvements to the UI and software that runs Quest. It is nice to have the CEO Zuckerberg and Carmack over there so interested in this tech... I'd go with the Quest 2 except I really only played PCVR on my Quest1 now, and I think Oculus is dipping out of PCVR really. Also I really want the best visuals and I like the headphones of the G2 (I had to DAS mod my FrankenQuest). I almost prefer Steam VR to Oculus home too, but Quest home is probably my favorite w all the different homes, i.e. space station, future city, the dome house, etc. Overall these are both two great headsets.
I preordered this thing on Amazon (I'm from Spain). It's going to be my first headset. I have an RTX 2080. Mostly looking forward to play "Half Life: Alyx", "Microsoft Flight Simulator" and "No Man's Sky". And also curious to check all the other "VR experiences" I've been missing.
Please before anything I reccomend that you get used to vr to get over motion sickness. Half life alyx with teleport mode on and other teleport type game should be played first to get used to regular vr stuff, Then try some smooth locomotion. No man's sky is a great vr game but it is terrible for motion sickness with spinning around in your ship. I would reccommend after you get used to vr to play half life alyx again with smooth locomotion turned on before moving on to games like skyrimvr or boneworks.
for longevity i would highly recommend games like dirt rally 2.0, project cars 2, assetto corsa, acc, etc if you have a wheel. you will never get bored. there is nothing quite like flying around a rally stage in vr with a wheel etc. also, onward (not v1.8 though, just v1.7) is an amazing game i still cant stop playing years later. for single experiences i strongly recommend accounting plus, rick and morty vr etc etc. so so so many great games out there though, you will have a blast. and with a gpu like that and the reverb g2 being your first headset. you will be absolutely blown away. have fun! ;:-)
@@drgxiii just dont think about motion sickness and limit your play sessions to at least 10minutes on (if not less) and 10 minutes break (if not more) IF you are playing games with free locomotion. if playing any other games, like room scale or teleport then motion sickness will not be an issue at all. and the worst thing in vr is rotation for me. i still cannot smooth turn without feeling a bit quesy. and flying games, avoid those until you have your vr legs. good luck, i reckon you will be fine, most are. i was in the minority of people who got vr sickness quite badly but even i managed to get my vr legs and have not felt sick in a long time playing vr. :-)
onward was excellent for me getting my vr legs as it was the only game with smooth locomotion that didnt make me sick. i think its because you spend most of your time aiming down sights/ concentrating hard so as not to die, as it is a fairly difficult game. but a lot of fun. (again though, i would not recommend the latest v1.8 update. you can go back to v1.7 in the beta tab)
How is watching movies in bigscreen with this headset? Sharp enough? My vive pro was not really good enough as a permanent solution for movie watching IMO.
look.. please answer my question :( so.. if we have gtx 1070 for example is it completely impossible to try to run this VR on full resolution or it's just not recommended ???
Here is a link to an article saying which cards can run what: www.pcinvasion.com/hp-reverb-g2-pc-requirements/ It lists the 1070 as a card that will not be able to run at full resolution.
@@straizys If the user can decide which resolution to use the 1070 might work but the game could run at a lower than normal frame rate. Unless the software locks the resolution based on what card you have then it would be impossible.

You need to clarify that with the "sweet" spot you can move your eyeballs only from side to side not your head from side to side and not lose clarity of the display/visuals. That's what is great about having big "sweet" spot. Samsung Odyssey+ and Rift CV1 are terrible at it for example.
Youre talking about edge to edge clarity. Open a tyriel wood vid of the haeadset you want to compare it to and you can kinda gauge the difference. Its still not as big as the index but yeah
@@astroreflux edge to edge clarity IS the "sweet" spot! What else would it mean? It's the point where you iris aligns the most with the center of the lens to get the best clarity. In a lot of HMDs that spot is very narrow because of the Fresnel lenses not being very good, therefore need for manual adjustment of HMD on your head to align it. Bigger "sweet" spot less need for manual alignment.
@@robinmeade7573 its not a linear relationship, although in most cases they can be used interchangeably. Eg with gearvr lenses, if youre not in the sweetspot you will experience worse distortion, but will retain edge to edge clarity. With fresnels its much more linear tho ill give you that.

I was convinced it's about maintaining clarity of the view while moving only your eyeballs without need to move your head in order to see sharp picture. As I said from my personal experience with Samsung Odyssey+ that was for me quite the issue. I don't experience any distortions otherwise?? Not in a sense that graphics are more jagged or straight line is not maintained. The only headset that has distortions of the picture as far as I am aware is Pimax. Which has supposedly very noticeable distortions at the edges of the lenses. So what exactly do you understand by the term "sweet" spot (wish I knew what is the technical term for it, maybe that would clarify the issue more)
@@robinmeade7573 it doesnt really matter when talking about fresnels. I shouldnt have even said it tbh. They are technically different things but practically your understanding of it works anyway. Its hard to explain why they are different without diagrams showing how light is refracted at each point of the lens lens based on the curvature/thickness/distance to eye/screen. Doesnt matter though look at tyriels vid with the g2 and compare it to one of the odysee ones and take FOV into account from mrtvs fov comparison, should give you a better idea than just him telling you he can look around with his eyes.
So, 4K+ resolution running at 90 fps minimum? I hope my RTX 2080 laptop will be enough. Sounds like you'd need a 2080 Ti to keep that minimum frame rate.

Wrong. HP gave a release estimate to retailers, saying September 10. Now they have notified retailers that it will be October 12th instead. Sad after I has been counting down the days and it was finally within reach.

HP guys said at the Microsoft mixed reality event that the Index controllers are not going to be nativelly supported (they’re not going to provide customer service for this).
Why do you think the price of the HP Reverb G2 is a steal ? The quest 2 starts at £299 and the they have the added cost of mobile processor inside as well as battery costs. So if you ask me the Reverb G2 is not a steal price wise considering they don't have any of these extra component costs that the quest has - So £299 vs £639 I really don't think it's good value at all when compared to the Quest 2.
I called today HP Canada Im from Montreal they said that we can pre-order it on HP Canada website at the beginning of September for 850 CAD and delivery is included in the price :) but not the TPS/TVQ :(

In Sweden some pre-orders are up, it's over $799 plus tax in Swedish currency....killed any chance of me considering it as I don't like buying overpriced stuff with extra "we don't serve the area" fees. Plus I'd also need a GPU upgrade.
I'm not buying it for two main reasons: 1- (and biggest reason): No hand gestures unlike cv1. I mostly play vrchat so this would be a huge deal breaker for me to only be able to close my hand 2- No vrlenses from vrlens: I have bad eyesight and don't really want to wear my glasses inside the headset Otherwise it'd be an instabuy from me

Well I'm sold, not made by a media platform company. Not forced into things you don't want, and on a level with the Valve index but cheaper, and you don't have to set up base station...Or you can if you want to along with having knuckle controllers. I know what I'm buying when my Rift S get's sold in 2023

I plan to eventually get a new pc, likely with a Geforce RTX 2060 or better. For now, I have a Dell laptop with a GTX 1050ti. Although this is not listed in the "half resolution" requirements section, will I be able to use the HP Reverb G2 with it until purchasing a better computer?
I returned my Rift S because every time i booted up my PC i had to unplug plug all oculus cable, when i heard of Facebook login i was so glad i returned it.
I just returned mine as well. 30 day return policy. The Rift S is OK. But during that 30 days I was getting iritated with hard to read text in cockpits, and the new Quest leaks started happening, and the G2 stuff started really coming out, and then the FB account requirement for Oculus users announcement, so on day 29 I filed for the return and sent it back. No HMD for now, but it will be better in the long run.
What happens when you use the headset at full resolution with a graphics card worse than a gtx1080? Like does it run badly and laggy or does it just automatically switches to half resolution? Thanks man and i love your videos!
Doesn't switch to lower res by its own. You can choose supersampling settings by yourself. E.g. you can try to go down to 80% with low spec gpu. The performance in general will greatly depend on the game, so fs2020 will maybe be unplayable whereas a older game will run fluid even on full res. Try and error I guess.

The Index is 1400$ for me and the G2 Reverb is 800$. So yeah. 600$ more for finger tracking and a slightly blurrier display. Maybe later I can spend that 600$ I saved on finger tracking controllers for the G2. I hope that it comes, third party or not.
Man, I’ve never seen a person push an unreleased product as hard as this man. We get that it MIGHT be an awesome VR headset, but until it comes out and everyone uses the final version we can only take your videos with a grain of salt. I do love your videos though.

Sebastian is enthusiastic about this because I believe this is in fact an amazing device that is the first to provide the 'next level' visual quality so many of us have been dreaming of. There is a demand, he's feeding people like me want more videos about the Reverb G2. This is a huge opportunity for Sebastian since he's one of the very few channels to get this headset (the first, to my knowledge). He should absolutely milk it for everything he can! Those who wait for the final reviews will be likely waiting months to get their headset. I preordered, if I don't like it I will be able to sell it on day one for as much or more than I paid. Or possibly return it. That makes more sense to me than waiting for final reviews, and then waiting months to get one. I already know the reviews are going to be in line with everything Seb has said, pros and cons. I just want my G2 already. =D Thank you Sebastian for helping make the wait easier!

However, I saw that there was a lot of hype for the 1st version and when it came out there were a ton of complaints and it didn't fair too well. @@Kyokushin4 I am 45 years old :/. And I preordered G2 too. I've tested Oculus Quest and with IPD slider set to 59 I've had accepted picture quality.
The Valve Index didn't rub me the right way with its high price and bad lenses, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna give a try to this HP G2

You know, on one recent video someone commented that they wanted to compare the G2 with the CV1. I kinda laughed it off a bit since this one is so clearly superior in almost every way. But, for those with CV1s it could be useful and for the rest of us it would be kind of interesting for a memory lane perspective to have through the lens footage of every generation of VR. Like a chronological showing of how far we have come.

I was planning to buy PIMAX 8KX, but it's really expensive + I would need to upgrade GPU and buy some 2080 ti or new 3000+ series which is quite expensive would be in general. what a great channel. Let me ask u a question. HP recommends 8th gen CPUs for this headset, but would it work on the x99 platform (i7 5820k, i75930k and the like, that's haswell E family)? Hi, great video. I have some issues with your pricing though. The VALVE index kit is cheaper if you want to use the Valve index controllers. Almost the same price for just the headsets + tracking £459 for Index headset + £139 for base stations = £598 vs £538.38 for just the G2 headset. But to use the Valve Index controllers with the G2 it is £538.80 + £139 index base station + £259 index controllers = £936.80 vs £919 for the full Index Kit and you have to do a lot of setup to get the controllers to work with the G2. Overall tracking aside the Index headset is nearly £90 cheaper than the G2 headset.
How much better would you say the HP Reverb G2 is compared to the Samsung Odyssey+ ? I mean I paid $350 for the Odyssey+ complete with controllers so very cheap.
Do you think the refresh rate will be an issue if wearing the headset long-term, and will it impact fast paced games.

Bit late to the party here but i'm hoping to be entering the Vr world when the Reverb G2 is released (significantly because of your excitement for this headset convincing me now is the time!) and was wondering if the resolution of the G2 would negate some of usual complaints against programs like Virtual Desktop for more "everyday" style use?

Good video Sebastian. But I'm not sure I agree with the price being a positive reason. It depends where you are coming from. If upgrading from the original HTC Vive then you already have base.stations and vive wand controllers. So you could purchase the Index headset alone for £450, which is less than what the G2 is priced at.

It will work great. MRTV uses a RTX 2070 for his G2 and the GTX 1080 Ti is better than a 2070.
GTX 1080 Ti is actually a little better than a RTX 2070 Super and sometimes very close to a RTX 2080 in performance.

CV1 owner here and just don't know if its worth it or if I should wait for next gen (Rift 2? Index2? Reverb g2?). Main think that has me down about g2 is narrow FOV. I want something like Star VR but higher res.

Would really like to see some VS. Pimax 5k Oled and possibly an 8k version if you can! With index return rates, I shiver at the thought of going that way and the inside out of the g2 isn't overly desirable so I find myself stuck between with very limited resources for proper comparisons
I heard the Pimax has terrible lens distortion still. The tracking shouldn't be an issue with the G2. If it's like the Rift s it should't be that much of a factor. Judging from his lens footage the Index has a ok screen, not really much better and sometimes worse than the Rift S. It just has superior refresh rate.

'Tracking has improved' doesn't really help. I sold my HTC Vive Cosmos just because of that. Tracking was horrible for that price tag. So where does the tracking of this VR stand in relation to others? Or a demonstration perhaps? Not just moving hands, but those problematic movements like when you bring your hands close to your head, or when you are 'holding a rifle' with 2 hands? I am thinking about Oculus quest 2 and this one, and tracking will be the deciding factor here. And the following bit where you say 'if youre not happy with the tracking...' makes me lean more towards Oculus Quest 2.
Can you make a video on watching 3D movie using Reverb G2? I'm thinking to get this to replace my projector which is quite dim when watching 3D movie. Been thinking either get the Cinera edge or this VR headset. Advantage is I can use Reverb G2 replace my aging Samsung Odyssey OG.

I believe the highest IPD setting on the reverb G2 is 68 and I am told my personal IPD is 69. Is this likely to cause an issue? This will be my first foray into VR so I have zero experience to draw from.

I did have an opportunity to borrow a friend's Rift S last Nov for one night and I was mesmerized in DCS World. I decided then and there I would spend whatever I could afford to get that experience for myself.

1 You need a high end gpu. This headset is 4k 90hz twice (but easier to run than regular screens on same resolution)

What are the main reasons or differences between the oculus quest 2 and the G2?
Quest 2 is a Standalone headset, you do not need a PC to play games. Other than that, quality wise the G2 wins in each department according to reviews that are out.
If I move it to a different room can I restore saved room setups or do I need to recalibrate each time I move? Is there a room save/restore function?

Would love a video comparison of the pimax 8k x production model vs hp reverb g2. Still not convinced this is better then the pimax 8k x. FOV for the g2 is also very disapointing. HP will probably slowly increase the FOV at each release, very disappointed.
Da Truth pimax is rubbish they put a nice k in the name and all flip. Many simmer went from the piemax to rift s. I mean goes to show.

I have a strong feeling Valve is releasing a generation 2 Headset in spring 2021. They're the leading market for VR and helped HP with this headset. So this is a way to put loads of consumer money into the business. Have on company release a crazy good HMD, and the big dog company release an even greater HMD 6 months later. Anywho, I am still getting the G2 no doubt. Can't fucking wait.
Sebastian, I just read the G2 specs, and it says it has gyroscope and accelerometer. Do you know if those can be used to get 3dof in the dark, for movie watching? It would be great if yes, but a disappointment if not, given they are already in the headset.
I don't think this will work. But... For like 20 usd you can get an IR blaster and then you can use it in pitch black!

However it seems to me that if the G2 has a gyroscope and accelerometer inside, it would make sense to use it for 3dof, like all pimax do. It is just a firmware thing after all, no extra cost for them I think.

I am getting the Reverb G2, but it's not perfect. The controllers could be much better. And I have no idea about WMR software, etc. I do trust Microsoft, HP and Valve over FB.
The Quest 2 is great too. It sucks they force FB acct login, but it is dirt cheap, they're trying to make VR mainstream. They roll out updates very quickly, constant improvements to the UI and software that runs Quest. It is nice to have the CEO Zuckerberg and Carmack over there so interested in this tech...
I'd go with the Quest 2 except I really only played PCVR on my Quest1 now, and I think Oculus is dipping out of PCVR really. Also I really want the best visuals and I like the headphones of the G2 (I had to DAS mod my FrankenQuest). I almost prefer Steam VR to Oculus home too, but Quest home is probably my favorite w all the different homes, i.e. space station, future city, the dome house, etc. Overall these are both two great headsets.

I preordered this thing on Amazon (I'm from Spain). It's going to be my first headset. I have an RTX 2080. Mostly looking forward to play "Half Life: Alyx", "Microsoft Flight Simulator" and "No Man's Sky". And also curious to check all the other "VR experiences" I've been missing.
Please before anything I reccomend that you get used to vr to get over motion sickness. Half life alyx with teleport mode on and other teleport type game should be played first to get used to regular vr stuff, Then try some smooth locomotion. No man's sky is a great vr game but it is terrible for motion sickness with spinning around in your ship. I would reccommend after you get used to vr to play half life alyx again with smooth locomotion turned on before moving on to games like skyrimvr or boneworks.
@didz13 Your a braver man that I'll every be. also Quakevr weeelllll that's something I need to look into.
for longevity i would highly recommend games like dirt rally 2.0, project cars 2, assetto corsa, acc, etc if you have a wheel. you will never get bored. there is nothing quite like flying around a rally stage in vr with a wheel etc.
also, onward (not v1.8 though, just v1.7) is an amazing game i still cant stop playing years later.
for single experiences i strongly recommend accounting plus, rick and morty vr etc etc. so so so many great games out there though, you will have a blast. and with a gpu like that and the reverb g2 being your first headset. you will be absolutely blown away. have fun! ;:-)
@@drgxiii just dont think about motion sickness and limit your play sessions to at least 10minutes on (if not less) and 10 minutes break (if not more) IF you are playing games with free locomotion. if playing any other games, like room scale or teleport then motion sickness will not be an issue at all. and the worst thing in vr is rotation for me. i still cannot smooth turn without feeling a bit quesy. and flying games, avoid those until you have your vr legs.
good luck, i reckon you will be fine, most are. i was in the minority of people who got vr sickness quite badly but even i managed to get my vr legs and have not felt sick in a long time playing vr. :-)
onward was excellent for me getting my vr legs as it was the only game with smooth locomotion that didnt make me sick. i think its because you spend most of your time aiming down sights/ concentrating hard so as not to die, as it is a fairly difficult game. but a lot of fun. (again though, i would not recommend the latest v1.8 update. you can go back to v1.7 in the beta tab)
How is watching movies in bigscreen with this headset? Sharp enough? My vive pro was not really good enough as a permanent solution for movie watching IMO.

@@straizys If the user can decide which resolution to use the 1070 might work but the game could run at a lower than normal frame rate. Unless the software locks the resolution based on what card you have then it would be impossible.

You need to clarify that with the "sweet" spot you can move your eyeballs only from side to side not your head from side to side and not lose clarity of the display/visuals. That's what is great about having big "sweet" spot.
Samsung Odyssey+ and Rift CV1 are terrible at it for example.
Youre talking about edge to edge clarity. Open a tyriel wood vid of the haeadset you want to compare it to and you can kinda gauge the difference. Its still not as big as the index but yeah
@@astroreflux edge to edge clarity IS the "sweet" spot! What else would it mean? It's the point where you iris aligns the most with the center of the lens to get the best clarity. In a lot of HMDs that spot is very narrow because of the Fresnel lenses not being very good, therefore need for manual adjustment of HMD on your head to align it. Bigger "sweet" spot less need for manual alignment.
@@robinmeade7573 its not a linear relationship, although in most cases they can be used interchangeably. Eg with gearvr lenses, if youre not in the sweetspot you will experience worse distortion, but will retain edge to edge clarity. With fresnels its much more linear tho ill give you that.

I was convinced it's about maintaining clarity of the view while moving only your eyeballs without need to move your head in order to see sharp picture. As I said from my personal experience with Samsung Odyssey+ that was for me quite the issue. I don't experience any distortions otherwise?? Not in a sense that graphics are more jagged or straight line is not maintained. The only headset that has distortions of the picture as far as I am aware is Pimax. Which has supposedly very noticeable distortions at the edges of the lenses.
So what exactly do you understand by the term "sweet" spot (wish I knew what is the technical term for it, maybe that would clarify the issue more)
@@robinmeade7573 it doesnt really matter when talking about fresnels. I shouldnt have even said it tbh. They are technically different things but practically your understanding of it works anyway. Its hard to explain why they are different without diagrams showing how light is refracted at each point of the lens lens based on the curvature/thickness/distance to eye/screen. Doesnt matter though look at tyriels vid with the g2 and compare it to one of the odysee ones and take FOV into account from mrtvs fov comparison, should give you a better idea than just him telling you he can look around with his eyes.
So, 4K+ resolution running at 90 fps minimum? I hope my RTX 2080 laptop will be enough. Sounds like you'd need a 2080 Ti to keep that minimum frame rate.
laptop might be problematic due to ports. Besides that you should be fine with a 2080. Check out his other videos.

HP guys said at the Microsoft mixed reality event that the Index controllers are not going to be nativelly supported (they’re not going to provide customer service for this).
Why do you think the price of the HP Reverb G2 is a steal ? The quest 2 starts at £299 and the they have the added cost of mobile processor inside as well as battery costs. So if you ask me the Reverb G2 is not a steal price wise considering they don't have any of these extra component costs that the quest has - So £299 vs £639 I really don't think it's good value at all when compared to the Quest 2.
Just received an update from the New Zealand supplier that shipping has been delayed from 15 Sept to 15 Oct. Pretty dissapointing.
HP never said it was coming out in September. They just said in the fall. Some retailers said September and got people all worked up for that date.
I called today HP Canada Im from Montreal they said that we can pre-order it on HP Canada website at the beginning of September for 850 CAD and delivery is included in the price :) but not the TPS/TVQ :(

I'm not buying it for two main reasons:
1- (and biggest reason): No hand gestures unlike cv1. I mostly play vrchat so this would be a huge deal breaker for me to only be able to close my hand
2- No vrlenses from vrlens: I have bad eyesight and don't really want to wear my glasses inside the headset

I just returned mine as well. 30 day return policy. The Rift S is OK. But during that 30 days I was getting iritated with hard to read text in cockpits, and the new Quest leaks started happening, and the G2 stuff started really coming out, and then the FB account requirement for Oculus users announcement, so on day 29 I filed for the return and sent it back. No HMD for now, but it will be better in the long run.

What happens when you use the headset at full resolution with a graphics card worse than a gtx1080? Like does it run badly and laggy or does it just automatically switches to half resolution?

Doesn't switch to lower res by its own. You can choose supersampling settings by yourself. E.g. you can try to go down to 80% with low spec gpu. The performance in general will greatly depend on the game, so fs2020 will maybe be unplayable whereas a older game will run fluid even on full res. Try and error I guess.

@@petertheturt 1060 should be ok for half res. If you haven't already, check out his vid showing g2 @ half res with mediocre gpu's. Cheers

@@petertheturt Sounds good. Makes sense to upgrade to see its full potential. If your cpu is good, you can throw in a used 1080ti or better. Hope prices will drop soon when the new series hits the market
its so funny this is the only vr headset this fall with no other major companies, and maybe occulus but sad that occulus didnt give a preview headset out yet
The Index is 1400$ for me and the G2 Reverb is 800$. So yeah. 600$ more for finger tracking and a slightly blurrier display.
Maybe later I can spend that 600$ I saved on finger tracking controllers for the G2. I hope that it comes, third party or not.

Man, I’ve never seen a person push an unreleased product as hard as this man. We get that it MIGHT be an awesome VR headset, but until it comes out and everyone uses the final version we can only take your videos with a grain of salt. I do love your videos though.

Sebastian is enthusiastic about this because I believe this is in fact an amazing device that is the first to provide the 'next level' visual quality so many of us have been dreaming of. There is a demand, he's feeding people like me want more videos about the Reverb G2. This is a huge opportunity for Sebastian since he's one of the very few channels to get this headset (the first, to my knowledge). He should absolutely milk it for everything he can! Those who wait for the final reviews will be likely waiting months to get their headset. I preordered, if I don't like it I will be able to sell it on day one for as much or more than I paid. Or possibly return it. That makes more sense to me than waiting for final reviews, and then waiting months to get one. I already know the reviews are going to be in line with everything Seb has said, pros and cons. I just want my G2 already. =D Thank you Sebastian for helping make the wait easier!
@@mixedrealityTV I actually got so excited watching your videos a few weeks ago and preordered the unit. However, I saw that there was a lot of hype for the 1st version and when it came out there were a ton of complaints and it didn't fair too well. So I canceled my order and will just buy it locally when it comes out to save over $28. By the way, I want to thank you for making your videos.
@MRTV - MIXED REALITY TV is there a way to use the original oculus rift cv1 controllers with the g2?
