Great video on the AG01 nano gimbals and your custom setup. There are a lot of people pissed off at Radiomaster for making the small Pocket. I'm not sure why people get so worked up over option available for people other than themselves.
Hands down the best portable radio. In the process of creating a "travel bag" for tinywhoops to just toss in the car amd this radio is perfect. I still prefer the boxer with the larger gimbals for daily use though...you get way better resolution with the sticks
@ConceptNull sure, you can mode the pocket to have a larger throw but its not gonna be the same out of the box compared to a boxer. I've tried adding taller stick ends and it makes it uncomfortable for me personally, it's just too high to get the same throw as a stock boxer
The Radiomaster Packet is my daily driver and Im thinking in upgrde it with these one you showing and the stickends are the one Im been looking also. thank you for this video.
Thanks for this vid, a lot of the other videos glossed over how to set the mode 2 properly and I couldn't figure out how to keep the tension to hold the throttle position.
AG01 metal gimbals, ohhhhh so pretty. Great review on these fully adjustable awesome gimbals. Very nice upgrade for those who want them. Gimbals spacers very nice for thumers that want low profile sticks. Gimbal install seems doable and painless. Great install tutorial Albert!!!
Great demonstration of how the gimbal settings work. Usually see them adjusted in the radio, harder to tell what's going on. Cool setup with the stickends, really looks perfect for thumbers. 👍😎
Cool. I purchased a Zorro, but then after the pocket came out I wanted it, but I suspected it might be a bit small for my hands. Nice upgrade. I've heard some pilots swear by them, I cannot comment as I simply use the stock gimbals. Thank for the upgrade / update.
Thanks, Albert for consistently producing content that I find interesting, informative, and entertaining. The RadioMaster Pocket is my daily driver also. I love the radio as is, but I do plan to update the gimbals to the nano AG01. I also plan to replace the latching shoulder switch above the throttle stick to a more traditional toggle for arming/disarming. Since the AG01 gimbals run about $65 and since I don't really have a solid plan for the switch replacement, I've also been considering just buying the Boxer Crush and be done with it, 😆. It comes with the upgraded gimbals and my preferred switch. But I've never used a Boxer so I hope it's ergonomics are to my liking...🤔 decisions decisions. It's great to have so many options. I think this is sort of a "golden age" of the RC hobby. Thanks again for the content. Happy flying, amigo. 🫡🍻
That's good advice, Albert. I'll try to get my hands on a Boxer before I buy but it's difficult. I live in a rural area, and I don't fly with others. I'll have to order the Boxer. I'll make sure I choose a retailer that allows returns. I really don't anticipate a problem switching back and forth. I'm pretty adaptable. Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise. Happy flying amigo. 🫡 🍻
Waiting for Radiomaster to switch from those hard to read LCD screens to OLED screens that are easier to see in bright daylight. Do you know when that will happen?
Oh snap! I have a nice snow white one on order. I had seen gimbal led rings for other recivers, (boxer maybe?) but didn't find any for the pocket. Idk if all the lights inside still light up or not, or if they shine through the case if they do, but I do have some glow in dark filament I think will look great for spacers! 😜 I grew up a gamer, and have been finding it awkward sometimes, as i do this weird ½ sometimes sort of pinch/bad thumb technique.. 😆 Thumb control muscle memory is well baked into my core... pinching a controller is just weird n awkward... This is totally going to be a game changer! ❤❤❤❤❤
I've noticed the raised bumps from 23 to 2024 models on the pocket switches,I didn't realise the stick height would change , perfection is subjective with luxury items, loving the colours.
Some people gonna love this, some people gonna hate this. That's all OK. We just need lots of options to personalize our gear to the way we see fit as individuals. The concept of one size fits all in FPV is the dumbest idea ever and whoever believes in that is just being a facist.
They probably small enough to fit but I'm not sure the mounting holes will line up. There's no way for me to test it since I gave away the T Pro a while ago.
I never liked short sticks. I custom made some really long ones a few years ago. But I changed back to stock so it would fit in the Tx case I use (I still use the original Taranis XLite). But I also like these new radios where the sticks can be stored in slots on the side and I have the older version of this ELRS mini radio I will try using eventually.
⚠Be careful ⚠ The design of those CNC gimbals is a tiny bit different, and if you use the spacer, that little "end stop" bracket, the large one, above, (where the outside screw pushes to reduce the travel up) is colliding on the pin + of the battery. It is valid for both sides. I was already using the spacers, and now just upgraded the gimbals, but I meet this problem. Pocket from "first" version, semi transparent. Motherboard V2.10. Edit: I solved that by cutting/removing half of the metallic pad where the red battery wire is soldered. Now it's good, but I think it still collides a little bit with the plastic
On my blue crush version there's no conflict and there's several millimeters of clearance. It seems there may be an issue with the older version of the radio? Can you share some pics of yours showing the issue so others can also see this? You can upload them to imgur.
Hi. 250mw is more than enough output power for the typical flyer. I fly the Radiomaster tx16s with the 250mw limit around my yard and local park. I've also flown around farms, no issues with reception. The limit will usually be your video link. Happy flying.

Very nice customized setup there.
Yeah, I'm loving this setup!
great video the reason i started watching you was because you take stuff apart and show how stuff works
That gimbal spacer is exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you!

"resolution" is only dependent on the stick length from the top of the stick to the middle of gimbal.

The Boxer is a lot bigger and heavier than the Pocket. You might not like it. Just see if you can try one before you buy one.

LED rings would be killer!
Hi, thanks for the video, how long do the m3 bolts have to be to work with the umbrella stick ends?
I think mine are 15mm. FYI, regular screws don't work and stick out. You need these special counter-sunk screws so it will be flat.
Yes I know the type, thanks for the reply, I'll get some ordered

Can we stop misusing the word fascist, thanks.
can this be a beginner controller? for fpv, can use elrs?
This is a great controller for everyone (if you like small radios). Yes, this one has ELRS inside.
@albertkim
What are the chances these gimbals would fit in a jumper t-pro v2?
They probably small enough to fit but I'm not sure the mounting holes will line up. There's no way for me to test it since I gave away the T Pro a while ago.
Any chance can fit install to jumper tpro?
I heard these are too small and the holes don't match up.
can you not put the AG01 gimbals on the OG Pocket (non-crush)?
Yes. They are the SAME radio. 100% compatible both ways.
I never liked short sticks. I custom made some really long ones a few years ago. But I changed back to stock so it would fit in the Tx case I use (I still use the original Taranis XLite). Also seems like you can solve the issue with some electric insulation tape?
Right screw for the gimbal spacer is m2.3 self tapping screw.
Fantastic review, Albert! Thanks so much! 😃
Kudos, Radiomaster! They're just killing it lately!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Is the range and penetration ok on that pocket crush radio for park flying? And flying around a house? I think it’s 250mw. Is 1000mw needed?
