  • Digging a footing for a new construction basement home. This is for the concrete contractor I I usually dig for, he has 4 footings for me to dig this week. I touch a little on how I go about digging them. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #footings

    I hope the builder ordered the windows, paint, electrical and plumbing 5 months ago. If not this one will sit still a while. I have windows ordered in February that are still MIA.

    So, both you and Digginok make videos about digging long straight lines. I try to dig straight lines. However, honestly, it's less depressing watching you dig than watching Frank. Since you use an excavator, I can always say "I could do better if I had an excavator." (Yeah, right, and "if a frog had wings..."). But with Digginok, I have to try to convnince myself that there's something wrong with my backhoe, or go with Einstein's theory about space being curved, wait, that's it! Space is curved, and so are my trenches! That works. Carry on.

      I’m convinced Frank is superhuman 🤣 no one digs that straight and perfect! He’s the man! He’s footings are like art lol! Appreciate you watching and commenting always cracks me up 👍🏻

    We have clay that is similar to that here in Pa. Although most of my digs were for a full basement instead of footings. Even on the ditches, what I did was take the compaction wheel and pulverize the ground to break up the "hardrock" clay layer and then the 260 could dig a nice neat ditch. Neatness counts when doing a ditch ya know! lol.

    This should go a lot quicker than last summer’s basement dig!
    And it did… no rocks and… you didn’t have to dig the basement! It looked like that hole had been opened awhile and settled with several rains.
    The crusty sand/clay top layer broke up awfully bad… but, i’d rate the bottom of your trench at Frank Quality!
    Did you notice in your time lapse and fast frame segments that the clouds hardly moved in the picture? That’s when you know you have a still, hot, dog day!
    Glad you made it back in one piece… rested I hope?

    Another great video!! Had two questions...
    Who typically determines the precise depth for footings - I have my first job digging a footing for an addition and the "blueprints" call for a minimum depth below grade and they call out the thickness of the footing. Given it's an addition, the top row of block would need to land level with the existing house. It doesn't seem like super difficult math but I'm wondering if this is something you would typically be responsible for figuring out, or are you given this info by the architect or someone else?
    Also, are you typically responsible for the layout (painting the lines of where exactly to dig)?

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you! You can probably get the existing footing height then go down like 18”-24” to get the depth you need to dig. For me the builder or concrete crew paints the lines and tells me the depths they want. Every where is different on footing requirements. Our frost line is only about 8”-10” so our footings aren’t as deep as our parts of the country.

    Hey man, question? If you don’t mind. So is their a way to switch the control option on a Takeuchi excavator. From a ISO control to a SAE control. AKA cat control to a backhoe control. We can’t find it on our excavator so i was just wondering if their was an option.

      The 2150 if you flip the rubber mat up under your left foot is a little door lift that and it’s right there. On the 260 and down if you raise the big panel door it’s on the side of the hydraulic tank
