Coastal Foraging - Lobster, Crabs, Urchins and Cod - Foraging UK

- Finally out on the rocks coastal foraging for Lobster, crabs, urchins plus we see some small cod in the smaller pools. It was really nice to get back out foraging and having a look about the rocks to see what I could find. I love foraging in the UK, it is really nice to see what sea life lives among the shallows and I always love the color on these almost blue lobsters.
During the winter the tides are not as big as they are in the summer so it makes it difficult for any coastal foraging. However, we were in the middle of a set of good spring tides so I decided to get back out on the rocks and see if I could find a lobster or two!

Lobsta Mac & cheese oh my one of my favorites, Massachusetts heah!
So good isn’t it! Great tasty comfort food!
Just subbed to your channel, great video, thoroughly enjoyed it 👍👍
Thanks for subbing and watching. It’s been a bit quite recently with the weather conditions but hopefully back out soon. Won’t be long before the diving can get going again. Cheers Ben.
I was gutted that I missed these tides myself, couldn't make it out due to other commitments. Look forward to seeing more foraging videos with spring approaching 👍
Ah that’s a shame you missed them. This was actually the only one of the set I wasn’t busy! They don’t come around that often in the winter. As you say though, spring/summer is on the way so lots more foraging to come, thanks for watching. 👍🏼
@@CoastlineFishing Where is this
@@dean2656 it’s on the east coast of Scotland, near St Andrew.
Thats my crab trap handle!
Haha well it’s been retrieved 🤣
Don't know how I missed this but it finally came up on the algorithm, hope you're ok, great foraging 👍
Cheers Michael. All well here, hope the same to you.
You might need to go to your subscriptions and find my channel then click the bell and change it to “all”. By default UA-cam only sends you limited notifications of when I upload 😉

Ahh no worries. Thanks as always for watching. Hopefully back out soon. Conditions have been a bit all over the place recently.
Is there a certain time of year to do this or all year round?
You can do it all year round but the spring tides are by far the best as it exposes all the holes. Generally the warmer months are also better as once the colder rougher seas arrive the crustaceans move off shore so they don’t get battered against the rocks in the swells.
Hi when is the best months to forage lobster? What is ur wetsuit thickness
The summer is better but mostly as the sea is calmer and warmer:) my wetsuit is 7mm and that means I can dive in temperature down to 5degrees. Generally in the winter the lobster tend to move offshore so they don’t get damaged in the rougher sea. I hope this helps.
Very nice video! Makes me want to head out and get one! 🤙💦
I’m glad you liked it, thanks for watching👍🏼 it was a good night out on the shore. Bring on the next big tides!
I would love to do this but i dont kbow what i am doing and dont know anyone that would do it with me
It is great fun. I would suggest looking for a low tide that falls during the day and then just head out and start having a little look about rocks to get used to it and learn the area. You could join a couple of the foraging Facebook pages and maybe pop a post out and see if there is anyone else local to you that fancies heading out :)
Same haha
Are you in the uk Donna?
Where is it mate ? Place
This one was on the east coast of Scotland 👍🏼
