I read an article once regarding French women style and it mentioned that they don't feel the need for under eye concealer because they like the look of 'having a life'-- perhaps fun nights ;) That's all the 'permission' I needed to ditch the under eye concealer. I now just use tinted sunscreen, mascara, nude lip gloss, and a touch of cream blush.

Her skincare routine was Ponds cold cream. She always looked 20 years younger than she was. She sewed her own clothes and always looked fabulous.
I loved this so much!! I’m looking to learn how to actually apply makeup, I use NONE every day. But I’m adventuring into using some because I’m in my 50’s and WHY NOT TRY. Thank you for being brave for all of us!
Woah. Wait a second. Day 4 with the orange/red sweater made you look 10-15 yrs younger, especially with your hair up, and was GORGEOUS (and you already look young)! All the looks are beautiful. It’s funny how preferences are so different and we feel prettiest in what makes us most comfortable. 🤗 You definitely have a face that looks pretty regardless of the amount or type of makeup.
Hiiii!!! ☀️ I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and have consumed every video!🌺 You're so my vibe and I love your content! 😍 I'm an African American woman in my 40's and I love this makeup experiment 🎉 After moisturizer, I've tried limiting myself to eyebrows, color corrector, bronzer, finished with a sunscreen setting spray. Lips bare with gloss for everyday 😅 Some days I may add a baby wing if I went to emphasize my eyes :)
Thank you for showing us these looks! Okay, so this prompted me to actually count the number of makeup items I put on for a typical day...and its 11. This is on top of some maximalist skincare. It has been feeling a little soupy. I think I will try removing one makeup item per week and see if it takes me to a better place.
Your “dead day” had a fantastic beachside look, very 70s/late 60s. I can’t wear any eye makeup because my lids are so hooded, they press down on my eyelashes and eats them up. Been that way since I was in my 40’s. I think I’ll try just a touch of blush on the lids, I usually use nothing on my eyes and hope my crazy glasses distract, LOL
I wear only one piece of make up most days. Usually a bold lip - often Russian Red or Ruby Woo. I haven't worn foundation or BB/CC cream in years, having not found one that I like. At 65 I'm blessed with good skin and a strong brow. Eye shadows don't look good on me any more and my eyeliners tends to wander a bit. So I make a statement with my eyebrows, my glasses and a bold lip. That's it and I'm very comfortable with that. I wear jewellery every day.
This is the best video of this type I’ve seen. I love your honesty. I might have a go at this myself - I tried your 7 day style challenge and I got loads out of it. Some days I wear no makeup at all and sometimes I use about seven or eight products, so three a day will be interesting.
I seriously think lips and eyebrows are the most important. My friend who works for Chanel hardly ever wears mascara. She wears brows, water tint Chanel base, and lips and always looks beautiful
I had 2 eye surgeries in 2023. A cornea repair in March, that failed and a cornea transplant in April. Stopping mascara was horrifying at first. Now I'm perfectly fine skipping it. Eyebrows and lipstick and a little BB Cream moisturizer is my daily routine. I'm 72.
Well this was fun. I loved day 3. Day 4 you looked like a runway model for an avant garde show. You’re the first person I’ve heard recognize too much concealing can backfire, esp when you’re doing a minimal look. When I totally cover my under eyes, it makes my eyes look smaller, which leads me to have to use liner under my eyes and mascara to widen my eyes again. That’s often the case w/makeup, which is why routines tend to become longer and more complicated once you start. Thats why many women either do a full face or nothing.
I really enjoyed this. More than you did 😂. I have loved makeup since I was 15. I’m not 57. I have a ridiculous amount of eye shadow singles and palettes (Covid contributed to that) and really specific AM and PM skin care routines. ‘Back in the day’ I was never seen without makeup. I started going without it years ago until this recent binge. Obviously I like to have a lot of eye shadow options, but I don’t always use any. Brows are a must as I was in the era of pluck, pluck, pluck (and a little incident with fire 😂) and regrowth was sporadic and uneven. My brows are fraternal twins. A bit of colour corrector and concealer under my eyes (hereditary dark circles). And something on the lips, often just a lip pencil and something on top (my lips also look dead). Then again I don’t always do lips because it wears off. And I am on the hunt for my ‘perfect’ shade. I’ve completed given up on my eyelashes so mascara might be for ‘special events’. But I don’t have any so…🤣. Finally, sometimes a little blush if I look deathly pale. So how many is that…6. That’s not too bad. Oh, 7, sometimes highlighter. Again, I really enjoyed this video. Not just the topic but your vibe is great, you’re funny, you’re not afraid to ‘mock’ yourself so I’m a happy new subscriber.
@@unblahyourself I’ve been meaning to watch some videos on castor oil as it seems to be everywhere at the moment. I might give it a try. Thanks for the welcome, fun ‘place’ to hang out and do some straight talking.
I am soooo grateful I got darker eyebrows in a decent shape. I wear minimal make-up normally...and many days, zero makeup. This is right up my "alley"!
I’m a natural makeup every-day gal, but when I count them up… eyebrows, stick blush, concealer, lip product… I’m not really leaving the house without min 4 products. Mascara is rare these days and eye liner equally rare… I love the look of a natural eye… so when I do decorate my eyes… wow, even a little bit feels like a statement! Great idea for a video and fun to watch. Thank you!
At age 55, I find that my makeup application techniques I used at age 25 no longer work, and I also find that I have lost the talent or eyesight or both to apply straight liner, brows and lips, not to mention, I haven't been able to find a lip color I like. I dont agree with the color choices of most beauticians when I ask for help. They always seem to lean towards orange tones, which is a color I hate. Especially on my lips! Lol. So, with all this, I feel better with no makeup! If I try this challenge, it would force me to try different combinations that dont involve lining anything. Maybe I'll find a daily look that will help me grow into a Queen Baddie! 😊❤❤
Hi! As far as lip colors go, go into a MAC store or the MAC counter at Ulta and have someone help you with the colors. See if that works better for you and you can definitely tell them "no orange shades"!
I bought mascara a few weeks ago for the first time in about 15 years! I’ve worn it once, and I doubt I will use it very often. I have dry eyes and am always putting drops in; mascara doesn’t really work for me, but I’m okay with that. I usually use e.l.f. concealer, and brow pencil, plus a tinted lip balm. That’s it! Occasionally, I’ll dust on a wee bit of e.l.f. powder blush.
This was so fun! I've recently found your channel and am having a great time learning how to unblah myself as I'm nearing 50. Your candor and humor are so relatable.
I like your point about liking your undereye darkness and realizing you were told to lighten it so you did. We all need to step back now and again and ask ourselves, "Have I fallen for marketing?" And remember, our skin absorbs the chemicals in products, therefore less is best. Two decades ago I learned that parabens are found in breast cancers. How does something applied on the outside get inside? Through your skin. Soap, shampoo, and hair conditioner are washed off in the shower, but lotions and makeup are rubbed in or left on the skin ALL DAY. Just as one is careful about what you put in your mouth through food, please consider what you keep on your skin. It becomes part of you.
There must be something wrong with my eyes because I think you look fabulous no matter what you do. I definitely see how color changes and can lift or dull your appearance. You're so lucky. I was born a red head with the palest of white skin. I have white blond eyebrows and clear lashes. One day I went to work with no makeup on and my boss sent me home because he thought I was sick. I went with it. Day off with pay! My entire fashion and beauty life has been a struggle. Wish I would have known you when I was younger!
Love your videos! And I appreciate your humor and vulnerability in talking about the looks you don’t like. But I have to say this: You look stunning with your hair pulled back off your face! I hope you’ll consider growing out your hair a little and wearing pony tails or messy buns or whatever because you need to show off that fabulous face!
Thank you! A development in my gray hair grow out is that I realize that my gray hair is much puffier and needs more weight to stay down so I will be growing it out!
Wow! Diana! You are a supermodel!!!! And you are bold and daring!!!! Your skin is flawless with only moisturizer! What an amazing transformation when you switched the orange sweater for the oatmeal one! (Well, at least they are both breakfast items!) I love this video soooo much!!!!❤
Suggestion that I do is put lipstick on and then use my finger to take excess off the top lip, use it for blush on one cheek and then repeat with bottom lip & other cheek. If it gets to be to vivid on cheeks, I then take lotion over top to tone it down.
Most work well. You're right - you shouldn't have to count eyebrows (they're not optional & many people have them). Do some more of this, using eye-liner variations, please. I've discovered the no mascara looks too. So easy. Often do a liner instead.
After my skincare (including SPF50 sunscreen) my two key areas are eyebrows (mine are gray and sparse) and color on my cheeks since I am SO pale (and silver gray!) I think it's super useful to figure out what those "key" individual areas are and have a quick routine for those; so some days it's only brow pencil, blush, and lipgloss.
An odd thing occurred to me just now- it’s possible that my mother was not so stern as she appeared- she just learned at a young age to fill in her brows heavily to be like her black haired mother and 2 of her sisters. It gave her an air of severity that I’m seeing in myself since my brows have gotten more white hairs and thinned out a bit. She had auburn hair and dark brows and eyes- and time does soften everyone’s coloring. 🤔
That’s what interests me most, too! I’m 39, and don’t dye my hair. My hair is ash brown, with free, natural white highlights. Not for everyone, but I love it and look forward to seeing her embrace her natural color
The mocha look was beautiful. I do brows, concealer, lip liner, bronzer and a very modest wing just at the outer corner. Not using mascara is a such a liberation and if you dye your lashes and use a lash growth serum you can don’t really need it. If I had to do three I would use a bright pink lipstick for everything plus brows and a wing.
You rock all the looks. Absolutely beautiful. As I got older I’ve found I look best with less. I apply a sunscreen with a light tint, Invisible Zinc, then fill in my eyebrows and then use the lipstick du jour on my lips, to frame my forehead, my lower jaw, a touch under my eyebrows, then curl my lashes and that’s it. I use mascara for super special events. I don’t want to deal with removing it daily and frankly it makes very little difference imo. Love your videos and personality
I'm a dark corner deep set eye kind of gal. To the point someone asked me if I had been hit. I tried concealer a long time ago, and I didn't look like myself! One less thing to worry about! I'm glad I found you. I look forward to your videos. Thanks!
This was very cool! Interesting to see what you learned and what you liked/disliked. Most days I use only benefit goof proof brow powder and mascara, and sometimes add a one and done eyeshadow (shadow stick)
I can't go out without brows, either. I can't imagine having only two other products to choose from. A few things: First, your skin looked amazing with just the blush. Second, that scarf in the second look. Lord. Third, could you use your eye pencil as eyeliner?
Fun video! I could do just two products and feel put together - tinted sunscreen and a lip product (clear gloss is my favorite). Rosacea gives my face a lot of color, and I wear glasses. My typical everyday look right now is six, though, adding concealer, blush, mascara and tinted brow gel. I feel inspired!
At 67 my brows are mostly grey. My big "girl splurge" is a monthly facial and getting my eyebrows dyed. As I get older I uses less and less makeup usually CC cream and blush plus lipstick. Eye makeup is a pain and doesn't last plus I wear glasses, so what the heck.
This was a fun video 😊 Most days, I wear only mascara, some type of lip tint or lipstick, and blush. It always looks very natural with the exception of when I wear red lipstick. 😊
Interesting challenge. You should have tried your brow pencil as an eyeliner or shadow. Your darker circles are quaint compared to my big blue/purple just recovering from a black eye circles. I guess concealer or corrector would be my non-negotiable.
Thank you so much for the videos! I found your channel by chance and am so happy I did 😊 Question for you - How do you do your winged eyeliner? Would you consider doing a video on this?
This is such a great video!! My sunscreen is Mad Hippie tinted sun serum, and I use a very light dusting of tinted mineral powder to lock it in, can’t feel it on at all. I have a bit of hormonal acne and hate concealer settling into lines so this works for me at this stage in life. Lipstick as blush is my jam! Eyebrows and mascara and done, unless I use bronzer but I find myself doing that less and less now. I’m gonna try going without mascara too and see if I like it. Thank you for this, so thought provoking!
I only use 3 products normally. They're mascara, eye liner and lip gloss. Thank the Lord I have good natural lip color. I don't think I could survive without mascara. I will do eye shadow if I want to be dramatic.
Ok, you looked gorgeous in almost every look (oh orange sweater, why you do her like that?). I agree that brows are part of your face’s structure, so shouldn’t be counted. Honestly, why should other people worry about how much or how little makeup you wear? Like you, I truly love makeup and how it can be used, but it’s a fun thing for me. If it became a drudge, I would chuck the lot.
Interesting exercise, i put on eyebrows everyday, cause without pencil i look like the mona lisa, not a good look on me, everyday i use eyebrow, and lipstick, when going out i use foundation, eyebrow, mascara on the upper lashes and lipstick, no eyeshadow now that im older. Thanks nice video
i loved this makeup quest! i think i would need eyebrows, mascara or eyeliner and some lip product. and concealer sometimes, but as long as i have my spf i can manage 😂 i 💙love💙 the lapis necklace, can you share where you got it?
I think it's great and helps open your eyes to wearing colors you never thought of. Also you can wear less makeup when you wear your best colors. Sometimes it's hard to find your season because you're not one or the other, but it's worth doing because the journey reveals a lot of surprises!
I put a small dollop on the back of my left hand and tap it out a bit, then I tap it on the reddest parts of my face first then blend out from there. All fingers!
I was already wearing a moisturizer with spf and I really was wearing the cc cream for the coverage, so it counts. I suppose I could have fudged it in there!
I thought you looked good in all of them..I could get by with 4 items..foundation, brow pencil, mascara, lipstick (on the cheeks and lips). If I were to add a 5th it'd be a blurring powder.
There’s something magnetic about this woman. She gives me vintage vibes/beauty. Maybe the big eyes and the hair. 😍

I use mascara for super special events. I don’t want to deal with removing it daily and frankly it makes very little difference imo. Love your videos and personality
I haven't heard a single case yet of more makeup looking better as one ages, it's always less. Interesting.
I would probably do eyebrows & lips & maybe mascara. I know I cannot wear orange or yellow! I tend to wear jewel tones, black & silver jewelry
I'm a dark corner deep set eye kind of gal. To the point someone asked me if I had been hit. I tried concealer a long time ago, and I didn't look like myself! One less thing to worry about! I'm glad I found you. I look forward to your videos. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!! I'm glad you've embraced your dark side. 😁
I do like look four!
This was very cool! Interesting to see what you learned and what you liked/disliked. Most days I use only benefit goof proof brow powder and mascara, and sometimes add a one and done eyeshadow (shadow stick)
Yay! Only 3 makeup items!❤
You always address the fashion question I need right now!!
( even when I don’t know the question!)😮
Love that!
I can't go out without brows, either. I can't imagine having only two other products to choose from. A few things: First, your skin looked amazing with just the blush. Second, that scarf in the second look. Lord. Third, could you use your eye pencil as eyeliner?
I. CANNOT. BELIEVE. I didn't think of using the pencil that way! *throws phone* , *wails in anguish*
Oh and thank you! 😚
@@unblahyourself lol
Love your channel, Diana! I’m inspired to try this look.
Let me know how it goes!
I know you didn’t feel good about Day 4, but you looked as youthful as a teenager! A bit of a younger J-Lo about you. ❤
Im so glad you came to the conclusion you don’t need the concealer! As I was watching the video I thought it myself - you look lovely without it.
Thank you!
Yaaaaay for wonderful MAC lipsticks!!!
The best!
We should all splurge where it's important and save where it doesn't matter. You're living it!
Day three makeup is gorgeous!
It was my favorite!
This was a fun video 😊
Most days, I wear only mascara, some type of lip tint or lipstick, and blush. It always looks very natural with the exception of when I wear red lipstick. 😊
Well, you look great in any makeup, but I do like your eyes better with mascara and liner because they pop more.
6 is a reasonable number 😀!
Interesting challenge. You should have tried your brow pencil as an eyeliner or shadow. Your darker circles are quaint compared to my big blue/purple just recovering from a black eye circles. I guess concealer or corrector would be my non-negotiable.
We probably all have a non negotiable. I'm so mad I never used it as eyeliner!
Thank you so much for the videos! I found your channel by chance and am so happy I did 😊
Question for you - How do you do your winged eyeliner? Would you consider doing a video on this?

This is such a great video!! My sunscreen is Mad Hippie tinted sun serum, and I use a very light dusting of tinted mineral powder to lock it in, can’t feel it on at all. I have a bit of hormonal acne and hate concealer settling into lines so this works for me at this stage in life. Lipstick as blush is my jam! Eyebrows and mascara and done, unless I use bronzer but I find myself doing that less and less now. I’m gonna try going without mascara too and see if I like it. Thank you for this, so thought provoking!
I think I am going to switch to a mineral powder. Good suggestions!
Ditto! Those are definitely two essentials!
I only use 3 products normally. They're mascara, eye liner and lip gloss. Thank the Lord I have good natural lip color. I don't think I could survive without mascara. I will do eye shadow if I want to be dramatic.
Thank you. I'm going to give this a go.🙏 💄💕 xxx
Why not! (My current motto)
I'm not a makeup gal...just here for your vibe 🤍
I'm here for yours!
You are amazing, an inspiration!! So happy to have found you
Thank you so much! Glad you're here!!😘
Ok, you looked gorgeous in almost every look (oh orange sweater, why you do her like that?). I agree that brows are part of your face’s structure, so shouldn’t be counted. Honestly, why should other people worry about how much or how little makeup you wear? Like you, I truly love makeup and how it can be used, but it’s a fun thing for me. If it became a drudge, I would chuck the lot.
I was surprised for myself as well when I liked the no eye makeup. I am pretty much obsessed with lip color though.
I am nothing without my brows and lips! 😆
I normally put the lipstick on my lips then dab my fingers into it and blot onto cheeks and eyelids. EAsy. :)
New subscriber here! I love your videos!
Thank you so much Lisa! Glad you're here! ❤
Day 3 awesome, but you're beautiful either way
That was my favorite day! Thank you!
❤
i loved this makeup quest! i think i would need eyebrows, mascara or eyeliner and some lip product. and concealer sometimes, but as long as i have my spf i can manage 😂
i 💙love💙 the lapis necklace, can you share where you got it?
I made it! I have ones in different stones here in my Etsy store: haelixdesigns.etsy.com/listing/1120345955

So glad I found you!
Glad you're here Terri!😘
Day 6 did not work for me, I think it was the eye blush.
You wear your 47 years very well ❤️🩹
Thanks for legitimising my lazy ass make up routine
😂
What are your thoughts about color analysis.
I think it's great and helps open your eyes to wearing colors you never thought of. Also you can wear less makeup when you wear your best colors. Sometimes it's hard to find your season because you're not one or the other, but it's worth doing because the journey reveals a lot of surprises!
I have that loose powder!
PS I like makeup too!!!
How do you apply your it cosmetics cc? I suck at using brushes 😂
I put a small dollop on the back of my left hand and tap it out a bit, then I tap it on the reddest parts of my face first then blend out from there. All fingers!
Perfect. I just wanted all your videos. Lot them❤
😘
I don't think the CC cream should count as that is your SPF which should be non-negotiable! You look beautiful with nothing anyhow :)
Does the lipstick ever bother the skin on your eyes?
It actually doesn't and I have to be very careful with what I put on my eyes because of my rigid contact lenses.
I should add that a creamier formula probably would bother me. These MAC lipsticks don't move.
Thanks so much. Will give it a try.
You look very young with little make up on day 4.
❤❤❤
Personally I think the CC cream is skin care not make up.
Day 4 you looked 25.
I don't know anyone who has eyebrows....unless they are tinted on.
You look like my French grandmother born in 1903. Very little makeup, but just enough.
