And last weekend i went to a Big Daddy Kane concert. He took a moment to saying peace to all the casualties of the game. He mentioned Pac, Biggie, ODB, Eazy and so on.. But he didn't mention L, so the crowd started yelling "L, L, L" .. And he was like "That's that 'put it on'-kid, right?" We all stood there, completely taken aback at his ignorance.. Then the platinum plus beat dropped and he rapped L's part, and then his own addition to it.. BEST CONCERT EVER!

+paul maxwell literally makes me cringe seeing people comment on artists, like Rae sremmurd, songs saying "this is fire". It's not even fucking rap yet people are so quick to judge. I even hear people saying the drake and meek mills beef is one of the best of all time 😂 like I actually can't take them seriously

This joint.....my homie ran up to me with a walkman.....and said , "YO, Put the headphones on!" any time did that, it was on. I put them on....he looked at me and said, "You ready?" I nodded yeah. He clicked "PLAY" and this track came thru the headphones....I was in shock from all the punchlines....my homey was nodding and smiling like "YEAH!!!" I'm just nodding and jaw dropped .....I immediately said, " AYO Rod.....make me a dub!" True story. Weequahic H.S. Newark NJ 1992

When people say the greatest two rappers were tupac and biggie, I say you niggas forgot about the third one Big L, you can't compare there styles but put it this way, biggie and tupac was in the lime light, then you got Big L who had barely gotten a taste of fame, he didnt get to enjoy it or even progress in it, if Big L would have still been alive no doubt would have been the most mentioned rapper

Big and Pac were GOATs but people always forgetting about Big L and Big Pun. Personally i think Big L and Pun were better then Pac and Biggie but i give Pac more props becuz he was talented at song writing and had such deveristy, from thug songs like Hit em up and to songs like Brenda got a baby, he just has such a range. I love em all but Pac, L and Pun are my top 3.

I'm flooring niggas and i only weight a buck and change
I gave a lot of black eyes in my extorting days

Niggas running up (put me on!) what the *****, is this star search?
    I'm relieving rappers like sudafed

Ayo my crew's real smooth like lopez
I was rocking mics since niggas was wearing pro keds
    I only roll with originators
Chicks stick to my dick like magnets on refridgerators
    I'm a crazy mean lyracist
Many are in fear of this, yeah, so they stand clear of this
And those that refuse the order, big l bruise and slaughter
Niggas hear me and take notes like a news reporter
I'll bend a rapper like a fender, i'm slender, but far from tender
Killing niggas like a klan member
You can't touch this, your rhyme's to darn weak, front
And i'm a introduce your brains to the concrete
I keep hoes satisfied, i'm pushing the fattest ride

Cause i'm on some ruthless shit
It ain't over til the fat lady sing? i'm a shoot the *****
I'm swift with this, it's ridiculous to get with this
When i kick some shit, i'm a cold flip the script
It's all systems go when i start ripping shows
I swing and do my thing and i'm coming home with different hoes
    I got game like genesis
When i finish this i can bag any hoe on the premisis
I spin into action like a whirlpool
Get wilder than a rapist in a catholic all-girls school
Cause i'm scoring mine, never kicking boring rhymes
I'm living larger than my dick in the morning time
I get paid and laid on a good night
Me take a loss? that shit don't even look right
Brothers couldn't win against me with their hardest tactics
I hang 'em and use their ass for target practice
If you think you can troop, go recruit your group
We can battle for some loot, shit
I take you, and plus the rest of your squad
Bust your ass and make you all get messanger jobs
So write that shit in your column

@DEADmanwalking367 Tupac was in fact overrated. I don't like rap, but this type of music is acceptable to me because it's not overproduced. Tupac was okay in his early days, but sold out when he signed with Death Row Records claiming to be a West coast thug. That's why he got shot, for being fake. LOL Big L was timeless, and he had the best punchlines and flow I have ever heard.

Basically Big L and Nas are contemporaries - bubbling in '91-'92 and really emerging/releasing songs and albums '93-'95. When did Nas first see/hear Big L? The reason I'm asking is this has a vibe and L's lyric patterns sound a lot like Nas's "One Time 4 Ya Mind" from a few yrs after this, thinking that Nas took some of that vibe from here and similar Big L cameos? Or was L influenced by Nas at all? the iconic verse from Live at the BBQ was 1991. Later L added the little doubletime patterns that Jay-Z was also using that was in the air from diverse sources - G-Rap, Kane, even Fu-Schnickens and Das-Efx, but here he sounds more like Nas's more straightfoward multsyllabic style

Funny thing is I never hear what's-his-name talking about Big l Jim Jones and he's from Lenox Ave 2 I remember hearing Big l and hearing about him in Detroit here you know mixtapes would come through and I don't remember if it was on I think it was on a CD not on a tape and it was underground cuz he wasn't signed yet I used to get a lot of people that would bring me shit that we're all underground artists Detroit in New York and hurt 50 cent a lot of his shit before he became big I'm surprised 50 cent never talks about him either because 50 cent was going hard in 96 but I don't definitely think that 50 cent could wrap like this this man melts over the beat 50 cent does make good songs and lyrics but this guy flows over the beat like natural like the words just don't stop ending like he's got a vocabulary rate in his head he'll never run out of words that's a hell of an MC rest in peace to big l

You won't find it in sell out USA. You should check some UK shit, never gets recognition cos of the grime scene in Britain so it'll never be mainstream here, apart from all the shit from America. Taskforce have always produced bangers and Ramson Badbonez is a freestyle genius. Should check out Stig of the Dump too, he was the world battle champ, dunno if he still is tho.
Hard to top Big L tho, one of the best yet!

Anyone that knows rappin' knows that the're a number of qualitys that make a first rate writer, not just punchlines;I can think of a ton of great punchline emcees,Akinyele,Mad Skills,Chino XL,Ras Kass,Grand Puba,Casual,Redman,,the list goes on...

How can anyone in their right mind say that Big L was better than Nas;they're both two of the best writers of their generation.
There was no 'King of New York' in the 90s.Biggie wasn't superior to Nas,Big L,Finesse,G Rap or a gang of other NYC emcees in the 90s--he was dope--but he was also a major focal point of Puffy's mighty PR machine.
