- Malka Zimetbaum, also known as "Mala" Zimetbaum, was born on the 26 January 1918 in Brzesko, today’s Poland, then part of Austria-Hungary. She was the youngest of five children of Pinhas and Chaya Zimetbaum, both of whom were Jewish. Mala’s family had lived in Germany for several years before her birth, which is why German was the main language spoken in her parents' home at the time. In 1928, when Mala was 10 years old, she moved with her family to Antwerp in Belgium. She achieved excellent results in school, especially in math and foreign languages and she spoke Flemish, French, German, English, Yiddish and Polish.
As her father was blind, the family lived under difficult financial circumstances. In order to contribute to the family income, Mala dropped out of school and initially worked as a dressmaker in a large Antwerp fashion house. She became interested in Zionism, a political and nationalist movement advocating for the establishment of a Jewish state in the historical land of Israel and joined the Jewish youth organization Hanoar Hatzioni.
Mala Zimetbaum was 15 years old when on 30 January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by President Paul von Hindenburg.
In 1933, approximately 9.5 million Jews lived in Europe, comprising 1.7% of the total European population. This number represented more than 60 percent of the world's Jewish population at that time, estimated at 15.3 million.

What a contrast between Mala, who embodied the very best of what human beings have to offer, and the nazis, who did not even deserve to walk among other human beings.
Yes what a contrast between Mala and Zionists of today. I'm sure she would be ashamed of her people if she was alive.
I have always wondered why Germany ever existed?. Humanity paid a huge price living alongside these.... Unmentionables...!
@@woodenseagull1899 Say "Why Nazis ever existed"
Among the worst monsters of the Nazis also existed some men who simply joined their army in order to survive poverty. There were kindhearted men who did no harm, and secretly helped Jews as much as they could without getting caught, and there were black hearted demons who enjoyed hurting them, and who deserved a thousand deaths. Like all things, the Nazi army was not black and white. Armies are made up of men, and men are all individuals.
May Mala and her family rest in peace ..the Nazis were a curse on humanity...
there's no heaven,, if you believe so that god should ask for the victims forgiveness
What a beautiful tribute to this woman who suffered so much. May she and her family rest in peace.
I had a lump in my throat and felt like cryting listening to this cruel, cruel story. Nothing should ever be forgotten.
This woman is the definition of courage. May Mala find peace in Heaven.
There's s book called '999 the first Jewish transport to Auschwitz' that has a chapter about Mala. Everyone in Auschwitz was in awe of her because all the SS guards trusted her and she worked in the office with them and she lived basically with no rules and was treated great compared to everyone else. It makes it all the more amazing that she still was willing to sacrifice her life for freedom for everyone else.
Thanks for telling us about the book. I'm going to get it.
@@Desertfox14 no problem. I got it on kindle
She was a very brave young lady. She had a courage and strength that is not seen very often.
Mala's story should absolutely be a movie! The world needs to know who she was and what she did in her few years on earth. ❤
I agree with you 💯 since I've watched two movies about both Anne Frank and Sophie Scholl
There's a book about her, if you're interested in that
@@ICee712 probably since I've read about Anne Frank and her diary and watched a movie about Sophie Scholl and her last stand against Nazis
you right! It sounds like a fiction.
@@aranykert I agree with you 💯 since I've watched Anne Frank and Sophie Scholl
It takes a special kind of person, well special kind of hate, to call authorities on a starving girl trying to buy bread. Not hiding them. Not taking any huge risks. Just in a store and see someone and make the call to end their life for no reason at all. Other side of that coin, it takes a very very special kind of person to do all the good in the world she did. When they talk about legacy living on, they need to make sure these stories all get told over and over. She deserves recognition for the kind of person she was.
Very beautiful and lovely young lady that saved so many people's lives rest in peace and with much love.
What a beautiful brave woman. Thank you for sharing her story. I appreciate it very much. ~Kevin
Thank you so much. We are so happy that many of you like this video. We really did hard work with it. Greetings
Rest in peace Marla died fighting like a lion. Yes there were many tears shed. It's a shame they would not escape totally. Being on the outside she knew the British Americans and the Russians we're very close.
RIP
Mala Zimetbaum
(1918-1944)
Crying. Yes, tears for Mala. Mala was a truly altruistic human being. Touched that little girls were named after her. The inhumanity is gutting. Thank you World History and thank you to the narrator. Unbelievable diction and pronunciation.
I wonder what the Germans of today feel when they learn about the monstrous atrocities their ancestors committed against innocent human beings, especially babies and young children. I still can';t fathom how a person could commit such heidious crimes or even knowing about it being done by their people.,
Thank you so much!
@@bernicemellstrom5693 American military leaders, like General Patton, had German citizens tour the death camps he and his men liberated. I don’t believe the horrors of most countries are taught at home or in school. What my country did to the indigenous is horrifying and wasn’t taught to me. Today, for example, is the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. I’m older and absolutely no one I know understands what todays date means.
@@KohalaLover it’s in your face everywhere today. What was done to the indigenous people was terrible but nothing compares to what the Germans, Japanese and Stalin did to millions of innocents. Back in the 40’s 50’s even though I was very well aware of those crimes then, there is no ignoring today the horrible history of what took place after the 1st WW and the 2nd WW.
@@bernicemellstrom5693 I think you will find the 100 million taken from Africa significantly outweighs the persecution by the Nazis. The Nazis exploitation of the occupied countries was based on the overseas empire building of Britain, France and the other West European nations. The “Landsraum” or living space the Nazis wanted was the equivalent of Western colonisation of the Americas, Pacific and the Subsaharan areas treating the Indigenous peoples with little or no respect often committing genocide and the introduction of diseases unknown to these populations while at the same time transporting them to destinations for the purposes of slavery and other degrading treatment under the auspices of economic productivity.
I can’t imagine how many were burned alive in the concentration camps alone.
Incidents like that usually happened in the burning pits near crematoriums IV & V, where numbers, as during the summer of '44 when over 400.000 were liquidated, were too many for the gas chambers, were undressed, taken out and shot before being thrown into the pits. Sonderkommando testimonies state that a lot of the times the small bore bullet didn't kill the victim outright, so hence being thrown alive into the flames, along with babies, no need to waste a bullet on them, what a way to die, horrific !
How absolutely barbaric I can’t even imagine this in a nightmare.
What an extraordinary, brave woman.
May God rest her soul!
Amazing Woman, thank you for sharing
Mala Zimetbaum, is a true heroine. She is one of many brave souls.❤🔥🙏
Rip to this brave soul.
Amazing story and great colorized pictures! This is the channel about WW2 history. I love you guys! 😍
What an amazing and kind person Marla was, RIP Marla.
Mala. Mala and the great Edek!
Could you do a video on Belgian civilians forced to go to armaments factories in Germany? I know my grandfather was one of them, but I have no clue of where he was deported to… If anyone (viewers or people behind this wonderful channel) has any idea where I can obtain that information I’d be eternally grateful…
Google " United States Holocaust Memorial" and " locate victims of the Holocaust ". My deepest sympathy and condolences for the murder of your family members. I'd also ask Holocaust organizations if they have any ideas to help you with your questions. I hope you find the answers you're looking for.
Mala truly was an angel who walked Among Us, she was the best Humanity had to offer at the time and we are grateful for it. RIP Mala 🙏 🪦 😢 Your brave sacrifice will never be forgotten especially by the survivors of the holocaust. Vaya con Dios y en paz descansen.
Such a brave and courageous young woman , so sad the way her life ended 🦋
Poor soul, she must have been terrified. Bless her ❤
What a fantastic lady very strong woman shame on the Germans RIP Lady
Not the German..the Nazis..
Shaming is a leftist method.
Today we can see first hand the genocide of people carried out, not a historical narrative, for which we were not there for first hand view.

She, and her boyfriend, are the few and the best of humanity. Look at your own life and wonder how many people you've known would've been so strong.
This brave woman deserves a movie. Her story is more interesting than Schindler's, but very very sad 😥
She deserves a movie just like Schindler and Wallenberg. May she never ever be forgotten. Unbelieveble bravery!
MY NEIGHBOR VISITED THE POLISH DEATH CAMPS LAST YEAR; SHE SAID IT WAS A VERY EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT SHE WILL NEVER FORGET. VERY MATURE MATERIAL FOR ADULTS ONLY, BUT SHE FELT THAT IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR HER CHILDREN TO SEE AND LEARN FROM IT AS WELL.
Angels are recognised by the agony they bear for others, other than themselves .😊
As Shakespeare wrote -' A coward dies a thousand deaths, the valiant never taste of death but once '.
Hey, do you think you'll ever do a video on Marceli Godlewski?
He was an Antisemite for much of his adult life, but after the start of World War II he devoted himself to helping those he once despised. He was given the Righteous Among the Nations medal posthumously.
I find it fascinating that not unlike Oskar Shindler he knew when he saw Evil and ultimately turned against it.
I'd never heard Mala's story. Thank you.
Incredible woman, could I be as brave ? ........ I think not
A true woman of courage so brave I can’t see many women like that now 😢
Such a courageous young lady ,it's very sad .
What a brave and wonderful young Woman. R.I.P. Mala💐
Rest in well-earned peace, Mala.
THIS is an example of a true QUEEN
God bless you, Miss Mala. Thank you so much for all you did for the lives of others.
There are true angels like her among us. And that is a comforting thought .God bless her.
We share the same birthday.. RIP beautiful girl.
The Last Stage made in Poland in 1948 and shot on location at Auschwitz features a main character based on Mala Zimetbaum. Her execution scene at the end of the movie reflects Zimetbaums execution as witnessed by Primo Levi and Raya Kagan.
I use to watch WWII stuff all the time. I am older now, & I find it to heartbreaking to watch these videos. The barberic way these innocents were treated...it makes me very unsure of what the future holds for mankind.
Very very brave lady indeed, RIP ❤
Inspirational and exceptionally brave Lass. Remarkable courage.
Men, women, elderly, children and babies got burned alive by Hamas on 7.10.23
What a strong, intelligent and brave woman. May Mala and her family all rest in peace. She was nothing short of an Angel and a saving grace to many.
She was the personification of the word “Hero”, a term cheapened today when applied to celebrities.
The world has great human beings from the beginning of time. But unfortunately the world has pure evil monsters as well. Many respects to Ms.Zimetbaum. May she for ever rest in power and that two any other innocent person no matter the race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnicity that had the unfortunate encounter with a nazi german or it sympathizers.
I cant say how sad it is to watch this then think of recent events in 2023. History warns us, what happened in the holocaust im beyond words and seeing thise photos brings the horror to light. Never forget what man can do to one another. People are a messed up race thats for sure.
Never forget...
She had her chance to go the US but refused. When you see a chance take it.
What a beautiful and sad story. I wish that they would have mentionedsomething or anything about Edvard Galinski. He gave his life for her. He at least deserves to be honored on the Avenue of Righteous Gentiles.
What an amazing woman...who knows what she would have accomplished, had she not been murdered...courageous...brilliant...selfless...RIP Mala...your story should be more widely known...
I am reading "Mistress of Life and Death: The Dark Journey of Maria Mandl, Head Overseer of the Women's Camp At Auschwitz -Birkenau and just read about Mala and Edek
A film should be made telling her story! Her memory will live forever
Seeing antisemitism on the rise in the world today is disgusting. We see where this hate can end. My father helped liberate Bergen Belsen never again
I will remember you mala rest in peace.
Edward Lubusch died in 1984 living since 1945 under name Bronisław Żołnierowicz. In Poland. After helping the two youngsters escape from Auschwitz he deserted - affraid his role would be found out (which it was not).
That poor lady god bless you 🙏
I like how you ended it with "there were many tears shed..." instead of the usual "there were no tears shed..."
Burned alive how horrible no one should die that way
I cried during watching this short film about Mala & Mala's fight against Nazi regime. I really proud of her ❤
It still makes me feel sick everytime I hear of the disgusting practices of the holocaust. We all have a duty as citizens to make sure tyranny never happens again in Europe, whether it is nationalistic or communist, everything non democracy can lead to mass exterminations.
God bless you Marla x
There were many brave people who fought against the Nazis - some are known, and some have never been mentioned. To stand against the horrifying regime was to know that you may never live to see another day. "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it" rings so very true in the world today. Obviously, that is not the case here and now - to allow someone who is blatantly racist and has no conscience whatsoever to come to power is pure proof of that. Those that fought and tried to make things better, no matter how small it may be left a legacy that is now abandoned - were their lives all lost in vain? Guess we'll see in 11/2024.
Made the silly mistake that Rudolf Vrba and Alfréd Wetzler (two other jewish escapees from Auschwitz) didn't make. Go into a store to buy something with gold.
And that's why Rudolf and Alfred's escape was succesful and they lived long lives.
Dr acuerdo hubieran comido conejos ratas hierbas. RIP
Why aren’t there any videos about what the Japanese did to the Chinese during WW2 on this channel?
There are a few ...
God Rest her soul.
Rest in peace beautiful lady 💔
Mala RIP,we are very ,very sorry for your extremely painful death( in such of young age),with our knowlige, how super talented and kind good soul you was ❤
I have to say something about the sentence from video point 8:44 on. The victims were not already dead within twenty minutes but it took a complete hour until they were dead. It was not twenty minutes, it really was a full hour of demonic torment into the death, a full hour of suffocating and aggressive acidic burning, physical and mental suffering of the victims in the gassing chambers. This was really the case in exactly that way, not only twenty but even sixty minutes.
Rest in peace to Malka and others like her for they are united with their loved one not forgotten Godbless them may the rest in Peace 🕊🕊🕊🕊🦋🦋🦋🦋🌷🌷🌷🌷🌻🌻🌹🌹🌹🌹for now they are free 🙏🦋🦋🦋🦋🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🦋🕊🦋🕊🦋🕊AMEN🌷🦋🕊🙏
Doesn't make sense. They could just put her back in... 🤔
The comments about gasoline and burning happened only once, and yes, jewellery was found on an inmate and Otto Moll had the man set on fire and he ran to the electric fence but was shot dead before he could reach the wire. In all my readings I can only find one time this punishment was carried out, not, as the narrator makes out, that it happened more often. Yes, Otto Moll was a sadist, and a crack shot, and was hanged in Landsberg Prison, where his grave is still tended by the Bavarians ! Otherwise an informative video 👍
NEVER FORGET.
Edek and Mala together reunited forever young
A population 15.3 billion!? When it comes to millions, billions and trillions it's as if people's brains turn off.
Closed captions does give the correct figure.
Maud Adams portrayed Mala in the movie Playing For Time....
Respect & Rest In Peace
I cried 😢
Oh that is…. An unfortunate date to share my birthday with.
Edward Galinski, Polish and Edward Lubusch German father, Polish mother. Unlikely friends in camp.
❤ to you and Edek RIP ❤
I beleve that Mala and Edek's relationship was depicted in the CBS TV movie Playing for Time.
I feel she along with others is in the Devine presence of God our father.
I love this channel and love the narrators voice but he’s British so why all the Americanisms? Gasoline? Math? When a British voice is saying American words it does ruin it a bit
I assume the sources for a script as long as this will come from many different archives. Some probably have to be translated. So it's reasonable to think some may have come from American sources
And he speaks in 4 - 8 word segments, breathlessly
Dlaczego tego typu filmy pokazywane w Polsce nie są czytane przezlektora po polsku?!
Am surprised! Both Mala and Chaya are Indian names
❤❤❤❤❤
RIP MZ!
Crazy shit
Is this voice AI? It’s so robotic sounding :/
The sixth army didn't surrender. It was oblivated
Recordar que c
Mala in Spanish means bad in female version.
Nowhere near that she was
Its also a Hindu name meaning "garland"
I doubt she was burned alive, i hear she was died of wounds, exhaution or poison she has taken in crematory or even she was shoot by SS-man. But this part of the story is only know by Mala herself...
God bless the jews and Israel
