I'm contemplating redoing my front steps on our 114 year old house. This video really helps me to figure it out. With a $3000 estimate to have it done; I may just try it myself. Great video.
Yeah, you can save a bunch doing it yourself. I would recommend having a helper or two but $2-300 in labor to help with the pour is a lot different than $3000. Good luck with your future projects!
This is what UA-cam should be!! Good information about something that helps. Hell yea! I didn't even know I needed to know this. But hell I'm glad I watched. Good show man 👏
@@VanDamArtisan that's like saying paracord is longer than rope, a half inch thick coach screw with a hexagonal head on it isn't going to break easily or get cement in the head
I like the used oil idea. I mean why pay for something specifically made for a task, when you've already bought and no longer need something that will work that you've already paid for. Now THAT my friend is recycling in it's truest form. I know that was a long way to a point however, considering the cost of the tools to pour, grade and form concrete these handy dandy ideas can save a way overblown budget for a newbie like myself. Very nicely done video. Ty
Used motor oil is full of carcinogens. Using used oil on form boards deposits the carcinogens in the soil. Anything that is planted there can pick up the carcinogens. Using used motor oil is not a good idea, it's foolish way to contaminate the environment you live in and depending on how much used oil is used, you risk contaminating waterways and other people's property.
I made a comment on this guys videos on my wife's UA-cam. Within 1 hour he turned around and creeped my wifes account and trashed talked her in a reply. Stay classy buddy. You might want to post better videos if you can't take a reasonable poor review. WOW. Seriously
-You talking to yourself?
-Nope, just helping a lot of people.
Thank you man, you're a champ!
My wife thinks she's funny
@@VanDamArtisan she is! :') Very helpful. Cheers!
This was so real

Heck yeah man, you got it 🙌 nothing is impossible. Just finishing the concrete can be a bit tricky
114 year old house, sounds like a new one is due 😆

Thanks for that! I forgot to bevel the face forms though. It makes it easier to finish later, but not essential.
- Are you talking to yourself...?! - Yes! lol
When Americans find out about screws they will become unstoppable!
I'll look into that!
Screws are pretty trash for concrete. The heads fill with concrete or dust/ dirt. You spend more time on stripped screws than anything.
Plus they tend to break much easier than nails.

Nice work. Am preparing to do my own landing/steps off my deck.
Good luck! Steps are always tricky.

Hi how much a service like this could cost?
Probably around $10/ square foot. It depends though because most people don't like doing steps so they charge more.
Use a lazer. Shoot the top, shoot the bottom, ÷ 7 or 6 or 6.5 ........
That's definitely the dead on way to do it. Plus, you can establish your steps in relation to the house and yard and driveway much easier
Why 7 or 6 etc is that the number of steps
I believe he's talking about the height in inches of each step
Why is it so hard to get a construction job.
Tried all my life and never got so much as a call back.
Contractors are flaky by nature. Try showing up at their job site. That usually works.
3:00 lmfaooo
I thought it was Jean Claude Van Damme's concrete company for a minute 🤣🤣
I have a hard time filming while doing the splits and finishing concrete. But I do it anyways concrete I'm a VanDam!
1:19 volume warning would've been nice
Warning: loud volume ahead.
Brilliant
Thank you very much

I believe you threw the first blow. Not exactly classy.
Maybe you should give your wife advise instead of me.
Wow
Maybe you should have the balls to trash talk from your own channel.
Nice try but not very helpful buddy
Well, I have 3 different videos to choose from so hopefully you'll find something eventually.
Wasted my time. Wanted to see the whole thing. Not half way
..... It's a 2 part video.....
That's why it says "#1" in the title.
