I’ve owned one of these for a few years. Terrific amp! I usually keep it in channel 2 on the Plexi input. Plenty dirty for me, but cleans up really nicely. Desert island amp for sure.
@@zenamplification Yeah, I couldn't stand the T75's I had in a mid-90's 1936 cab that I use with a JCM800. Swapped them out for G12-65's which made me much happier. I do sometimes switch between the G12-65's and Creamback 65's though. Occasionally my ears want to hear something a little different.
I have the 100 watt eclipse now for about 2 years. I use an old marshall greenback cab I restored with it and it sounds best to me that way. I did buy the helios straight cab with it though and now I use it quite happily with my friedman jj100 or my smallbox. I think the helios sounds best with greenbacks personally.
Yeah, for me, this amp & it’s running buddiy variations are finicky. It becomes hard to settle for the set & forget rippage’. Great job again!! I really dig the mic’ed amp & cabinet simulation off to the left of our screens. Rad!! I do wish you had a “worldwide player’s comments” in the player’s comments section. Example: - Jaybird from Detroit says: “Much prefer the Helios 50 with a Strat & Tele for those juicy neck pick-up tone all night bender’s.”., You got it sounding great with everything. Cheers🤘🏻
I had this one and sold it, and this video proves why, its simply lacking some openess. And the numerous switching options may be promising but once you start fiddling with them it takes no end. Ps I used it with humbucker guitars only but must confess that the single coil sounds are quite good
I have owned the Helios 100 and currently have a Modern Classic. I would take the Wizard all day over a Helios as I feel it is a much more versatile amp, can get much bigger and punchier sounding and is also tighter and clearer. The Helios was cool: Bogner modded Marshall tones and like they said, a bit more "raw" than the Ecstasy. I felt my old 96 Ecstasy could do 80-90% of what the Helios could do.
@@redeyeddogproductions4222 I had a Stiletto Deuce II back in 2010. Cool amp! I wouldn't rate the Helios any higher than it, to be honest. The Wizard is a different beast though....
@@redeyeddogproductions4222 A stage ii Stiletto and Mesa Mark will cover ALOT of ground tonally, plus both feel good to play. I know as guitarists we are always looking for the greener grass, but in most cases....it isn't any greener, just a different shade of green!
Too much gain in the 80’s clips. It get’s too indistinct, especially with a JB. This amp and the 100 watter both shine in the 70’s / hot input setting with the gain between 12 and 3’Oclock. Even thought it’s meant to be his modded Marshall it’s best sounds (IMO) are edge of breakup and hard classic rock. ie. I’d still rather use a regular 6 knob Marshall and hit it with pedals. Then that Nuno riff will really pop. 😊
Loving the focus on hot-rodded Marshalls lately!
It sounds great! It sounds like so many bands and at the same time it's unique.
Great sounding amp. Really loved that clean Strat tone you had.
Nice vid! Great sounding and versatile amp. It just goes to show you how much of a difference the speakers make too!
love it. keep up the hard work! real amps forever!
Sick demo and an amazing amp. Great work.
Tele player right here - Helios 50 arrives tomorrow!
I really like the tele sound there with the amp set that way!
Incredible playing! 👏👏👏
So good. Nicely done man
That clean strat clip is divine.
damn it, I love this amp! :D

The fact that I liked the T-75 in this best is really screwing with my head
The old t75s are way better than the new ones
For sure, the voicing changed for the worse in the late 80's / early 90's.

I’ve used 2000s T75s that did the trick with amps that are very mid-heavy.
I have the 100 watt version and am very happy with it.

I have the real thing. Best amp I’ve ever owned.

Between this amp and the wizard modern classic, I would give right pinky to plug into

@@SluggerStark lucky, closest I have is a Mesa stiletto Deuce

This one looks familiar!
That nuno riff, What's the song called? 🤔

It doesn’t have enough punch. Probably needs a bit more filtering

Agreed. When owned a Helios 100, my most used settings were using the Plexi input and the hot input in 70's mode. Never really loved the 80's mode.
