Hi Jason, Thanks for your videos, have learnt a lot - especially the KDP+IngramSpark video. I have a question for you... Right now I have a book (print only) on pre-order through IS distribution channels, which is therefore also available for pre-order on Amazon. My KDP version of the book (same ISBN) is all set and saved as Draft, and I'm ready to hit the "Publish" button on KDP on the official launch day. But here's the question: Will the switch be immediate on Amazon? If not, how long does it take for Amazon to remove the IS listing and show the KDP version? & what happens to any orders placed on the launch day? Thanks for your advice!

Hello, and I'm sorry it took me a while to reply to this. I was at Dragon Con and then sick afterwards and am finally getting caught up now! To answer your question, the timing can vary on the switchover. Sometimes it's very quick, but sometimes it can take a couple of days for things to change over completely. In my own experience, I usually set the book live on KDP at night, go to bed, and find that it's completed by the time I get up the next morning. But it definitely can vary.

@@jasondoroughauthor thanks Jason! In the event, it took Amazon 48 hours to switch over both the paperback and the hard cover. Actually that was quite impressive since I set them to publish on Friday and they approved & published on the Sunday. Do these folks at Amazon not take weekends off?? I'm certain Ingramspark don't work weekends.
      Hope you're feeling better now.

The problem with ARCs is that they cannot post their review on Amazon if they don’t have a $50 transaction in the 12 months - how can you solve this problem? Thanks - new subscriber here

There's not really a way around that Amazon limitation that I'm aware of. All the ARC readers I've worked with myself have been able to post reviews on Amazon because they've already shopped there recently. If I had an issue come up where an ARC reader couldn't post to Amazon, I'd just ask that they post to Goodreads and anywhere else they'd like to and are able to post.

@@jasondoroughauthor I guess Goodreads is my best friend for now hehe. That’s the problem authors outside US faced coz most of our friends and people we know don’t have prior purchase - too bad, but nothing we can do. Anyway, thank you for the reply, I appreciate it 🙏🏼

I hate having to get Arcs. It's my least favorite part of publishing.

    Mmm... connections, the old system

Usually the connections themselves aren't as important as compensating the influencers, usually on a pay-per-video scale. I'm friends with a whole lot of bookish influencers who have huge followings and have rarely had my books featured on big channels or accounts based just on those friendships. I do think it's reasonable for those folks to charge for the coverage, as it's a marketing activity based on all the work they've put into growing their audiences and expanding their reach.
