Nice to see a karateka applying muay thai style to the game, more karate schools needs to do this to toughen their fighters and they should also do some hard sparing and learn how to take a punch sometimes not just points sparring.

I run a combo class every Friday. Mixing the blitz style of point sparring with knees, clinches, combos and leg kicks from Muay Thai. The Jhoon Rhee side kick works really well against standard Thai fighters since they're usually more squared up.

I like the look of these kick pads compared to the ones I have seen in my own gkr lessons. Who makes them or where can I buy them in UK please.

The kicks used here seem to be very different to what we're taught in normal class, or even during squad lessons. What technique is used? I can't seem to find a video on it, if one's been made

question.. doesnt it take more time and energy to drop your leg after the knee then do a back kick?

Fatigued plays a factor. We filmed this deep into a 2.5hour class. Also aggression can impact fine motor skills (karate can't always be neat and clean when you are trying to break something).

We from India support Karatedo in Olympic games, it is the best combat sport better than boxing and stupid Tkd, also it is the best forn of defense for woman too, it promotes fitness , enhances self confidence and improves character . Shotokan karateka 4th DAN.

Have to put it on mute as the Australian accent is so ugly & irritating 🙄
    Good drills however !
