What disappoints me about them is that in the bestiary, it mentions how if they can't find their hive long enough, they fall from exhaustion. Something that doesn't exist in-game, and could add strategy to collecting them
It's supposed to take hours or day, i'm fine with it. What's more disappointing imo is that they are said to attack all living creature, but in phase 3 only players can be aggroed
It would be neat if hiverunning would be a sort of risk/reward decision you can make early in the day. So you could choose to steal a hive and have the bees throw a fit and roam the map for the rest of the day (as it is right now, they're way too dangerous for that). Killing mobs seems interesting, but they'll probably be way too good at just purging every living thing from the map, which could be cool, but considering a lot of people would always take the hive means you'd see other mobs way less. (maybe they could just kill Tulip Snakes and Manticoils)
@@gneu1527 Sure they could, but would that be good game design? Ideally you want to make sure players have to deal with pretty much all the monsters (although it can vary based on your moon preferences). If you allow Circuit Bees to kill any killable outdoor entities, it creates the problem of a large number of players (most experienced players would probably never pass up on a hive, if possible) pretty much never having to deal with Eyeless Dogs, Baboon Hawks, Forest Keepers, etc because they ALWAYS take the hive and end up purging the map of non-bee life. Not to mention, it would be more interesting if the bees could actually work together alongside other mobs so you can get in tricky situations, as opposed to "here is a death cloud which is the only threat on the map, just don't go near it".
Cant rly happen cuz they spawn on nodes, which are always on valid ground, would only happen if the game glitches out or spawning objects bugs them, like sleeping old birds
The funniest thing I've ever done was try to get bees on March, fell in the water and died (taking the hive with me) and the bees were frenzied for the rest of the round. I nearly killed everyone, but we still laugh about it
2:57 Technically they take 4.4 seconds due to how the health system works. They take 11 hits to kill (not 10) because your health will regenerate a point in the time it takes them to attack a 2nd time after your critical injury. When you get critically injured and are below 20 health, you regen health until you reach 20. Because the bees attack 2.5x per second, you have enough time before the next attack to regen 1 point of health to 11, making them take an extra hit.
Man, I remember my first encounter with Circuit Bees. Rickety metal bridge, the only experienced player in our team of four charges ahead to scout the surroundings, leaving *three newbies* alone as a group. Out of line-of-sight and out of prox chat range, one of us makes the bridge collapse, bringing all three of us down, beehive at the bottom of the bridge, one player dies on impact, another is critically-injured from the fall, and the third is being chased by bees. The veteran among us was confused to leave for a moment, only to come back to a collapsed bridge, one player dead, another critically-injured, and the third being chased into the horizon by bees.
Another thing, if a Bee hive spawns in a strange location, (like another commenter said a steep hill) or a old bird spawns on top of the bees, they will immediately go into Phase 3 and start patrolling the map as the ship lands. This is very uncommon but happens the most frequently on Adamance from my experience.
Apparently that happens anytime you get damaged. I just learned that from another one of alter ego's videos, one of the 55 tip videos I think Edit: it's at 1:28 in their "55 MORE Things You Didn't Know about Lethal Company" video
I've noticed the intros for the videos have gotten much more fun than rather purely informational, the beginning scene in the Barber video was fantastic.
bees can also now be killed by running them over with the company cruiser, but only while they are not attached to their hive. So in the unlikely situation where you have frenzied bees roaming the map and a cruiser, you can try running them over to kill them.
It'll probably get patched if it hasn't already. The Cruiser currently effectively does a /kill on anything it hits quickly enough from my limited understanding. Edit: The Cruiser is reportedly a buggy mess and the way it kills things might be inconsistent and weird.
A good trick about beehives is that if you scan on the terminal during the loading phase like before the seed pops up over and over again. You'll see like a certain amount then after a certain period of time, more items will be added to the total item count in the scan terminal and those are the beehives.
According to all known laws of electrodynamics, there is no way a bee should be able to generate electricity. Its wings are too small to properly generate the current needed to get it's fat little body to power lethal level of static conduction. The bee, of course, generates electricity anyway, because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.
You can also put the bee hive inside the car. Since the update 55 it`s possible to put any items inside the car, stick the car to the magnet, and leaving the moon. This would result in any items still being inside the car the next day so that you could always put the items into the ship the next day, if there were too many monster around the ship. But any entities (except the players) are left behind on the moon if being in the car and starting the ship so that you get a bee hive without circuit bees without bringing it inside the ship. This information may be useless to some people but if you put a bee hive too close to a ships wall the bees can damage the players inside the ship so it might be practical to put a bee hive in the car instead onto the side of the ship.
I still remember the first time I grabbed a beehive. I was with a friend, it wouldn't chase me no matter how close I got or what I did... I eventually ran out of patience and just grabbed it, then started running. The plan *was* for me to lure the bees away while the other person grabbed it, I don't think the other person was ready for the change of plans though. Even when they made it back to the ship and closed the door, the bees went *through* the door as I jumped on the back catwalk.
there is also a few ways to drop the hives on the ship so they count as collected but are still outside so the bees wont be angry, removing the chance of losing a hive
As a note: for anyone who may have previously seen bread's strategies on collecting bee hives without having to bring them inside, this got patched in the latest update

The other day, me and two friends landed on Vow. I did the trick where you spam the ship scan to see if beehives spawned on the map, and found that none did. We walked out of the ship and saw circuit bees flashing in the distance. They spawned without a hive and were in a constant berserk phase. I assume it was a glitch, but I thought it was interesting to see and deserved to be told to someone.
It would also be good to mention that when you aren’t carrying anything, you can still outrun the bees in frenzy mode. You can walk it in circles and get your stamina back up until you can sprint again.
there is also a very rare thing, if the hive somehow falls off the map or fails to spawn (as what i think of it) the bees will always be in frenzy phase and aimlessly fly around
Bit late for this one but, if you drop off the hive at the front right of the ship on March, make sure you retrieve it very quickly. There's a cliff on the way while the ship is flying off and it will knock you down, either killing you outright or leaving you behind. Had that happen a couple of times, once solo. It was not a good time.
here's a fun peculiarity regarding circuit bees: normally, they damage you for 10 hp however, if you're critically injured (i.e: fell below 10 hp), they will instead kill you directly this typically ends up having the exact same effect. however, if you somehow get astronomically (un)lucky and escape them at 1 hp, but then get attacked by them again 18 seconds later, you will just die instantly despite having 19 health. turrets have a somewhat similar quirk, where above 50 health, they deal 50 damage, but at or below 50 health, they kill you directly. makes me wonder if these were the first things that were programmed, cause as far as i'm aware, there's nothing else that checks what your health is to decide whether to damage or kill you.

Sometimes they start as aggro and never return to their hive. You can see them aggro moving around with electricity before the ship even finishes landing...
Another way for the bees to enter frenzy mode is if somone someone grabs the beehive and the bees lock on to a different player then the one who has the beehive grabbed (ik because it happens to me and my friends alot from just playing the game)
