  • While the name certainly doesn't sound very exciting, flattering, or downright interesting, it is in fact a really nice looking figure. Probably could have even named him generic saber servant and I wouldn't have even batted an eye.
Nevermind me breaking his scabbard and having frustrations getting his head flush on his neck.
Is it my imagination though? You be the judge!

At this point, I have a whole bunch of KDM minis where I’m not quite happy with how the head fits. 😛 (PS - I always enjoy seeing you do these!)

Also if I'm not a fan of KDM's minis, the detail on this one is literally astounding, my only complaint is about the high hells(!) on a male fig. And an anime-style mini is always welcome, on ETSY there are some vendors that sell some 3D printed minis inspired by them.

If you know the names of the sculptors, please share! I'm always looking for people that can get the style!
Despite anime and manga's increased popularity in the west, the look hasn't translated over to 3D printing as much yet- at least at the tabletop size. The larger scale statues are a whole different story!

Every now and again one of the KD minis really speaks to me and this is one of them.
Reminds me of a lot of things, a little Seigfried, a little Ky Kisuke, honestly a little Saber. GW has ruined me, a nice stoic pose with both feet on the same level, its the simple things.

I too can appreciate a model that doesn't need to get pinned and supported on a base due to wonky positioning, which plenty of Kingdom Death models have been guilty of as well.
These days I'm just as fearful of bringing GW models with me anywhere as some of the crazier 3D printed ones. They both just have too much delicate parts on them!

@@ObscuritiesinMiniature yeah thats been my biggest headache with modern GW kits and "primaris ification". They look great for macro photography and detailed painting but in terms of accessible game pieces, just way too fiddly and detailed. This model really hits a sweet spot though. I think it also reminds me of older sculpts that were designed for a 2 part mold, so you've got that very defined silhouette in fairly restricted plane.

There was a point where I owned every KDM resin, but around the time of the Valkyrie and Samurai's release was where I started to slip.
Those two still bother me all these years later as they were in my cart for checkout but due to the spotty internet where I was on vacation on the day they released, they sold out before I could finish!!
Neither of which have seen an encore run- I don't count the samurai with no pants!

Sometimes, generic isn't too bad. Better basic and well done than something ambitious and poorly done.
