Gold Line construction information
METRO Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will connect people across the region to job centers, housing options, transit stations and key destinations in the Interstate 94 corridor. The planned 10-mile BRT line will connect St. Paul, Maplewood, Landfall, Oakdale, and Woodbury generally along I-94.
Gold Line will be Minnesota's first BRT line that operates primarily within bus-only lanes. These lanes are dedicated only to transit buses, and will be constructed generally north of and near I-94. Gold Line will be built with several features to ensure a comfortable ride and fast service:
Frequent, all-day service in both directions
Pre-boarding fare payment for faster stops
Access to Park & Ride lots in St. Paul, Oakdale, and Woodbury
Real-time arrival and departure information
Heated shelters, lighting, and security features

I'm not from Minnesota, so I'm not sure why UA-cam recommended this video to me, but I'm glad it did! This video showcases an excellent way for a city to communicate its transit routes. I really appreciated the aerial view mapping and the clear marking of the transit system's landmarks. Other cities could definitely take a cue from this effective communication style. Great job!
I'm happy to see future BRTs are getting dedicated lanes. Allow them the full classification of BRT. I hope this line is well used
Awesome!! I'd take this line!!
This is so exciting, I'm very proud of Minnesota taking on projects like this!
Should be a train line, probably an extension of the green line, but it’s much better than nothing.
Cut the size of that freeway, way too big.
Wait this will be like a Pittsburgh style busway? That’s awesome
yay
What a missed opportunity! Why didn't the line go all the way to Radio Dr or Woodbury Dr. There are so many businesses over there. All the way to Woodbury Dr and back to Bielenberg Dr would make so much sense.
Hopefully the transitway design allows flexibility for those mid-century built interchanges between US 10/61 & I-494 to eventually get redesigned… if that’s not already part of this project.
But IF they keep things secure, good for new travel options for that corner of town… if not the occasional tourist wanting to get their drink on without paying for a crosstown Uber/Lyft ride.
I'd been wondering what the construction @ Etna was all about, now I know! Very cool
I feel like this will be good for the area
Do you think this will cause more trouble then good??
Provide "security" , I can't stop laughing 😅😢😅😂😂😂😂😂😂.
IKR? Real estate values of homes, businesses and apt complexes directly on this bus route may see a substantial property value decline within a few years after this is up and running. Peaceful neighborhoods are about to get louder & a bit more polluted from extra exhaust in the air.
Hopefully in the future it can be upgraded to light railway. By the looks of the example station you don't even have high level boarding for your busses! If you didn't include a bus-only highway it would not even be BRT, just barely "rapid" "transit".
Agreed. That's why pushing for increased density so the ridership can blossom enough to justify the conversion to Light Rail is necessary
High level boarding is unnecessary throughout most of this route. especially in East St Paul where there would not be enough space.
Will this be in operation in June or December 2025? If June 2025 would be great because I could meet up with my cousin on our way to Wisconsin for our annual gathering
Hey I moose my dream job will be Kenosha street car and Wene I’m done with that il go to MN and work for metrotranset bus
How about we fix existing roads and expand them?
We tried it this way for 60 years, it's time to try something else.
Every time an existing road is expanded or a new one is built, it's obsolete the day it's built!
HELLLLLL NO
Everyone in Downtown St. Paul thinks this will turn Tamarack Village into another Lake Street or 38th and Chicago...and I agree.
How is it doing now?
@@wturner777 Well gold line hasn't started yet, and no one is brave enough to go to Lake St. or 38th and Chicago. Especially when some reporters from the Associated Press were shot at a year after Fentanyl Floyd's death.
This route didn't even reach there
Will there be actually adequate security on this route during the service times?
I hope this doesn't end up being a troubled bus route whereas it's providing transportation for unruly teens & young adults. In addition to providing new hangouts for problematic homeless persons, alcoholics & drug abusers.
It seems the passenger pickup/drop off areas of these new types of rapid transportation lines are becoming a favorite area for criminals to terrorize, assault and commit robberies on innocent people.
Why?! I live near here and already have concerns with homeless and drug activity. The stops near mounds park are in residential areas! So basically providing easier access to crime. St Paul you've failed.
lol im homeless and im on drugs and i know where you live
How's the area doing now?
Free rides to go shoplift and steal cars in Woodbury! Sweet!
👎
This project is a colossal waste of taxpayer money. Ridership will be dozens per day. The park and ride lots will be targets for criminals.
