@@kevindube7096 I love me some TCQ and Q-Tip, but you're way off. I had to listen to Breathe and Stop again to see if I was remembering incorrectly. I wasn't. ua-cam.com/video/n8omE8XPeYE/v-deo.html
Watch some of his live performances. Like the one where he's surrounded by a group of people. He can break dance, scat, rap.. sing great, funky. Play 14 instruments. Writes all his stuff. He's amazing to watch in a live performance.
I agree. He deserved awards for his earlier work but is now just being recognized. Like Leo winning an oscar for The Revenant. He should have got it for The Departed.
The QRIO robots (4 most recent) are adorable! Beck looked for them to do this video. It took programmers three months to plan the choreography for this video.
I personally prefer Odelay over Guero but only by a small bit. They both have a majority of Beck’s best songs and the Dust Brother’s best production, but Odelay has a great attention grabbin aspect throughout the whole thing. Don’t get me wrong most of the songs on a Guero do also, it’s just that Broken Drum & Scarecrow have some aspects that aren’t the absolute greatest, stiill a great song on an amazing album tho
I saw him at a coffee house in Silver Lake around 86'. He looked like he was about 13, but I guess he was a little older. He wasn't playing, but someone I was with was like "Hey wow there's Beck" going on and on about how good he was. I never thought about it again, until Mellow Gold of course. I guess my friend wasn't kidding.
Gwen Matthews I have the album too. not to be a dick but its christina ricci, she just didn't go by her real name, she was making the impression of a Japanese stewardess. I remember beck saying she was just hanging out on the set and did the backup vocals
Man I'm so glad I was able to find this song again, it makes me think of when I was young and me and my mom found out about limewire after she bought me a first Gen ipod for my 10th birthday 😂🎉
Who cares what he is as long as he keeps making music, I'd prefer him to get back to his Mellow Gold, Golden Feelings, and One Foot in the Grave albums. I love all his music but his old stuff touched me differently! In a good way! Lol
I believe the Chinese(?) guy sitting in the audience is a very prominent person in either China or Japan (I don't know if he's Japanese or Chinese). I think he's Chinese, and a leading software manufacturer of robotic equipment/machines and in a very elite position. idk how Beck got him to be present in one of his videos, other than his awesomeness! He's rarely available for things like music videos. .so cool tho
Hell Yes. Peace and Joy --Sexy doesn't even begin to describe how cool this song is. God I love this Artist. I remember the first time I heard Beck on the radio, I cold barely speak as I called the station to ask "who is this, I've got to know him"
This has Beck's "signature" written all over it! Love it!! To have the QRIO's perform was brilliant... and to finish it off with Christina Ricci's "please enjoy", I think my heart skipped a beat! Thank you Christina, er, ah... I mean Beck!
Wow. It's a real mindfuck how this music video, which still seems modern and fresh to me, and was released during my final year of high school, is nostalgic for someone who remembers it from their childhood. Maybe that's why elderly people still listen to 1950s music, it still feels current and new to them, and only the generations younger than them understand just how old that music is.
I'm only a teen, but Beck is my childhood artist. My dad played him all the time. Can't wait for the new album! Till then I can only "dream" about how great it will be!
Saw him do this last night at Red Rocks! Fucking felt-melting tripped out shit that whole concert was one of the best I've ever been to, and you can't beat a show at Red Rocks. I'm still dancing!
Still got it, dude, thanks for decades of bad ass music, man... We love to see you live, come visit Ponce, Puerto Rico, no one ever does. I have a feeling people here would dig your hybrid of genres.
One of two Beck songs I don't much like. Beck is unique in that he hasn't really released anything close to a sub-standard album. Put on a mix of all your Beck songs and it'll last all day. Yet two songs I don't much like. Phenomenal.
I'm getting memories from my dad playing this when I was 4 and I shook my head so hard my glasses hit the computer and broke it, but the song kept playing. (We fixed the computer)
After kanye went off on this dude like he was a nobody I had to see for myself .... he's actually decent I probably won't go out of my way to listen to him but I Don't go out my way to listen to kanye or Beyonce either ...
Fredrick Seiler I'm really suprised this many people never heard of beck.I thought everyone knew who he was but im also 35 and come from a time when we had a choice in what music was shoved down out throat. Think back at the original mtv then mtv2, or the box, shit even 1800 music now, and music shops.we had tons of ways to find artists, teens today get maybe ten choices on the radio and think that's all the music that's out there
Fredrick Seiler Come on man, Beck hasn't been on the radio or TV in any meaningful way since the 90's. To a teen today, that's before their time. Loser dropped 22 years ago, how is a fifteen, twenty, or even twenty-five year old an "idiot" for not knowing about it? Yeah, he kept putting out solid material in the mean time, but he hasn't really had a major presence since then. This is a chance for new people to discover him, not to be called names for not hearing about some artist who was last an integral part of popular culture before they were in middle school.

similar but poetic
Dude has good music man.
Watch some of his live performances. Like the one where he's surrounded by a group of people. He can break dance, scat, rap.. sing great, funky. Play 14 instruments. Writes all his stuff. He's amazing to watch in a live performance.
Yeah he does but this one is a direct descendant of Q-Tip’s “Breathe & Stop”
Beck is a lyrical genius.
I agree. His words are sheer genius
Beck is so underrated
absolutely
Hell Yes...!
How can someone who just won Best Album at The Grammys be underrated?
With popularity, financial success. He just won Best Album recently but he's been around for two decades now.
I agree. He deserved awards for his earlier work but is now just being recognized. Like Leo winning an oscar for The Revenant. He should have got it for The Departed.
My god that bassline is magic!
This is underrated alternative hip hop. He is killing a lot of rappers.
One of my favorite songs by him. The groove, beat and harmonica are superb. Get some.
If you want to see & hear where he got it from, just listen to Q-Tip’s song “Breathe & Stop”

definitively Guero is one his most amazing masterpiece

for sure, and he has so many wonderfull colabs in that album. like christina ricci and jack white.

In 1986 he was about 16 years old
I've been a loyal listener of Beck since the 90's, but never seen any of his videos. Every video is crazy! Love it!
Satan gave ya a taco?
Were you locked up in prison or something like that?
This era of Beck: Guero, Guerolito and The Information - absolutely 👌
The sample of the girl saying "Please enjoy" is Christina Ricci. Hell yes.
Actually, it's someone named Kurisutina.
Gwen Matthews its christini ricci
Whoops. Just looked into it. XD. I didn't know that she went by another name on the album. You guys are right!
Gwen Matthews I have the album too. not to be a dick but its christina ricci, she just didn't go by her real name, she was making the impression of a Japanese stewardess. I remember beck saying she was just hanging out on the set and did the backup vocals
She also looked and sounded Japanese in the video, so...

I have not heard any song from Beck I did not like 🥰. He’s a musical genius!!!!🤩

Only Beck can rap without rhyming and it still sounds good 👌🏽
I've listened to this song over 10 times now and I legitimately did not notice he wasn't rhyming until I read this
He uses the music to relieve the tension.
are y'all niggas even listening to the song, he rhymed plenty in both verses
AMEN!!
And what a man!
Honestly, I don't really like rap, but Beck rapping is different. The man is a damn legend.
Believe it or not, this is hip hop style. Nice job, Beck.
this song should have so many more views that it does. Guero is a fantastic album
Beck was always ahead of the typical, and we are all here now 2024 again. Need i say more
This is the most underrated song ever

Japanese invented that robot.
the robot are CGI, so good luck seeing them in person
