Man, I'ma a teenager, I make sure every time I get on the bus I say good morning, good afternoon, good night, and thank you, I know some of these drivers are dealing with alot and I am not trying to be another chunk of it, thank you for making this video, Keywan! 💪
I had some bus drivers in Chicago told me their experiences about picking up some of the elementary and high school students. They don't like it because some of the students are bad is heck. When I see the kids get on, I get off and walk the rest to my destination because I don't want them stepping on my toes.
School hours is real on public transit 😂 when I was 18-21 in college I avoided the bus from like 2-4 in my city, still young enough to fit in wit the kids and carrying a backpack but wasn’t with any of their shenanigans 😭
I'm a highschool freshman and I'm very respectful to the bus operators up here in Milwaukee. I'm actually very cool with some of them in my hometown from the Fond Du Lac garage. I basically go to work after school since i just got my first job at the grocery store.
I remember when I was in middle school I was on the transit bus in the back of the bus with a bunch of friends and we were being loud on the last route. The diver who we referred to as mean Gene kicked all of us off after warning us several times to tone it down. He later became one of my favorite driver's
Yes, middle school age students are the biggest issue. My experience with high school students are that they just want to go home. I had trouble with middle schooler behavior the other day and had to stop the bus. A high school sophomore said to me about the middle school trouble makers: “The kids these days.”😅
We had a similar situation here where the police and the school got involved. Kids were spitting and yelling at the driver when he asked them to turn their phones down.
We deal with ignorant people playing their loud music on Bluetooth on public transportation. I liked to listen to the transmission on our buses in Chicago.
When i drive pace bus 322, i would pick up highschool students at 54th/Cermak terminal but most of them would get off in Berwyn and North Riverside so they won't be on the bus ride all the way to Yorktown Mall and my other routes i just drive smoothly. I have to do multiple routes besides just one route. I have to drive long distance.
Principal Jones is a real one! Not sure if it’s the school I’m thinking of but the Burgh has had school staff ride the bus and the kids have been busted acting the fool and disciplined at times
Yo this was another real good one, thanks for mentioning our recent incident at NCTD here in San Diego. These kids nowadays be wildin' out here. We also have a similar "students" ride free policy using youth Pronto Cards tied to their name/photo, which can be banned/blacklisted, but they are to lax here about enforcing or even just "educating" about the free but card still required policy
As a student in NYC, I would like to say kids behave okay. Most times we just sit with friends and talk, not causing a fuss. Another thing that helps is the MTA sometimes have school trippers, that are dedicated for students. However they can sometimes not appear cause overcrowding. The Q17 gets cooked from 1-5. It can't keep any schedule, and the buses "Come when they come".
Also the MTA depot system makes it a pain for school trippers. Normally the Q17 is from Jamaica Depot, but school trippers can come from CS Depot or QV Depot which makes the driver runs really weird. Even though there might be 30 Q17s at one time , only like 15 can actually do more than run just school tripper runs.
As a teen freshman in highschool, I would educated the teens in my generation that the real world doesn't care about their feelings and ego once they become an adult soon. I'm still gonna apply for bus driving when I become 21.
What about if a student gets into a physical fight with another student on the city bus? What could be done? I've witnessed four students jump another student on the NJ Transit 608 and pushed him off the steps and no police showed up. The victim was alright because he fought back. The four students never got suspended or arrested, they even continued riding the 608 for the rest of the year. The operator did nothing, but I don't blame him for not wanting to get hurt, also no one intervened in the jumping. This was in middle school.
I do a school block on the city bus in Cleveland Ohio. I find that it's better to get them early in the morning, at 7 o'clock there still half sleep. It's the school blocks in the afternoon taking them back home when you have problems. They're all wired up full of sugar and soda pop.😂😂😂
I find the mornings aren't nearly as busy as the afternoon. I wouldn't board a bus during the school commute, better to wait an hour. I don't open the door until the passengers are waiting at the door to get out when I see people may try to push their way in.
As a teenager I always try to be nice onboard buses or even trains. Since I want to work in public transit in a few years I know I wouldn’t like dealing with immature kids myself.
My run starts with a 2:15pm circulator route, I get at least 5 to 7 kids from the High School stop on my bus each day. They are generally respectful, though I did have to ask them one day to settle down as there was small kids and babies on
honestly if they have an issue with too many students being on public transport at whatever time then they should complain to the city or school district to provide alternate transport, not the driver!
You hit it right on the head when you said bus privileges. Riding the bus is a privilege not a right and comes with massive responsibilities, And therefore it can be taken away.
You nailed it? I drive a bus in Western washingtona lot of the problemit's not only with students but several other groups of people. The problem IS they know there's virtually no consequence for their actions so they do whatever they want.
I’ve actually had parents ride the bus as passengers during am or pm school hours and when they see their folks those loud teens get real quiet and well behaved.
hey man u made this video just for me because i catch a bus to get too my school at like 6:39AM. and it do be crowded after school because alot of people are getting off of work from the city in downtown pittsburgh.
last year i had a school tripper for loyola and they plus the ND students where amazing, though I also have been on Main township trippers and those kids are wild. but I still will wont blame the kids as the really bad people are the parents who drive too much and clog up the schools making school trippers suck. honestly the quality of modern parenting is so bad.
Kids are a different breed nowadays. Social media and cell phones have ruined this generation. Some of very good kids but I see more and more of it nowadays. I have friends who are teachers and they have told me stories.
I'm a be honest, most of these teens are very disrespectful on public transportation. They're very bold with their disrespect. Teens back in my generation wasn't too bold back in 2004-2008, just a few of them. Not all, not all but a handful.

As a teen who lives in Pittsburgh and takes buses to and from school i don't act like that at all if i see a wheelchair person trying to get on I'll get up from my seat and lift up the wheelchair seats and be a good person 7:16 also prt used to be called port Authority just an FYI
4:42 damn... i should consider myself lucky, worst ive had so far was someone going all hawk tuah spit on dat dang on my floor Other kids got on em tho 😂
“You don’t want to leave them stranded.” Okay, I get that. However, actions produce consequences. And even if the consequences involve being abducted, mugged, or whatever, then so be it. The truth of the matter is that if they would have behaved from the beginning, they would not be reaping the consequences. Even if my own boys were left behind and something bad happened, yes I’d be horrified, but I would still blame it on them, not the bus operator. Don’t put your hand in the bee’s nest if you don’t want to get stung. Their development as human beings far outweighs their physical safety, IMHO.
2:46 I kind of have different feelings about this. Yes, they absolutely should have waited until they got off, plain and simple. But I feel like there is a back door for a reason, so people can exit, and people in the front can get on, and the route moves without disruption. Now, this doesn't apply to people with disabilities, or limited mobility. I'm talking about the passengers that will get up from the back of the bus, just to inconvenience other passengers to exit out of the front doors. Why?
What I don’t get is, we have a regular route from 7:30AM from DART Central Station in Des Moines. Route 60 that goes right by Roosevelt HS in Des Moines. They put a short 30 PAX bus on a peak route when by the time we get to school we get 40+ near the school, why would the agency put a smaller bus on a busy route? I don’t care about mid day, it’s not that busy but please get a bigger bus.
Can't stand schoolkids. In Australia regular city buses do school routes instead of yellow school buses and I had this particularly rowdy bunch. I was so fed up and bitter in general at my helplessness I gave one school girl the cold shoulder as she said bye to me when getting off. She proceeded to give me a lesson by repeatedly saying bye louder and louder, even after I coldly shut the doors in her face without lookin at her and calmly driving off and her screaming it at this stage . I felt alive inside doing this. All the other students went deaf quiet fit the rest of the trip, some shooting me the dirty eye and saying see ya sarcastic and all. It felt like I'd let out pent up steam and some of those students acted more respectful the next time I had them a few days later. Funny that.
You have to realize it starts at home there's no home training or no respect when I was coming up as a young man this was not permitted you would get put off the bus 0 and it wasn't crowded as much the bus driver would pass to take the next crowd to their destination.
That “He ain’t lying” guy always gets to me.

Completley understandable. Hate when people be blastin their music on public transport. Most of the time its terrible music too.

Some teenagers being teenagers is much less of a problem on transit than the adults on drugs and/or mentally ill.

My grandfather was a track worker & great uncle drove the A train for the MTA here in NYC. So I made sure I was on my best behavior.
My uncle drives the Express bus from SI to Manhattan. I made sure I behave too.

Good for kids to learn how to take city buses. It helps them grow up.
It’s not only even on the bus. Teenagers suck just everywhere. At the store, on the bus, at the movies, etc.
