Thank you so much! I love sharing my birds with the world. I never would have never thought I'd raise peafowl or pheasants. They are a pleasure to have. I just wish I could get the grass to grow in Ceasar's aviary. i planted winter rye and it was growing then all of the sudden the weather turned warm and the winter rye died :( I now have spread fescue grass seed that can handle a lot of shade. I want it be green in there like it was last year. Eventually I will replace some of the tin on the roof with clear panels to let more sun in. (My husband didn't ask me about the design when it was built... ugh! ) At least the new aviary isn't covered with chicken wire like the last one. :) Although I do want Ceasar to have plenty of shade to keep his magnificent colors from fading :) I will continue to take more videos of Ceasar for you. Thanks a lot Helen for the kind words.
Thank you for sharing! I live in an apartment and I don't feel that it would be fair for a pheasant but I feed 20 doves and 3 magpies with wheat twice a day at my bedroom window. And a few pigeons at my kitchen window. And a few sparrows. The other day I've seen a woodpecker for my bedroom window. Sometimes I go to the park and I feed the ducks and the swans... ah, I love birds! If I travel to another country I always check for new species and I always feed them. Yes it would be more pleasant for the eye to have green grass but it's clean, they have water, a variety of foods, plenty of space and I'm sure you will succeed in growing the best grass for shade. I wish you all the best. 😙❤💕
Thank you! You should see my back porch. It has a roof and runs the length of the house. My husband put up rods that swing in and out so I can pull my bird feeders in when it rains. I have a dozen bird feeders hanging on them and under the over-hang. I can see all of them from my recliner. I am bird 'crazy'! :) I even have Mocking birds and the Brown Thrasher come to one of the suet feeders I have hanging flat so they can land on it. Those birds aren't supposed to come to bird feeders. :) A couple years ago the Red-Headed and Red-Bellied Woodpeckers started coming to the suet feeders. I have the Eastern Bluebird all year long and they use 2 nest boxes I put up. I even raise live meal worms for the birds and of course Ceasar and the peafowl get some. Live meal worms are their favorite treat. Thanks for the encouragement. I'd better get to work. Have a good one!
Thank you so much! He sure does. If I didn't know him 'in person' I would think the video was 'enhanced' and for the photos I've taken I would think they were photo shopped. But he definitely for real. I see him everyday and still can't believe how beautiful he is. However, he can look pretty pathetic when he molts. I posted one video of him when he was molting Here is it: ua-cam.com/video/h7GMQVNOV9w/v-deo.html
Thanks a lot! He does love to patrol the perimeter. He gets very excited when my hens hang out close to his fence. He 'wants' all of them. :) One time a hen snuck in behind me and Ceasar went crazy. It wasn't too hard to get her out. :) Ceasar 'knows' he's gorgeous. :) Have a great day!
That's so true but he is also a gentleman. I researched pheasants to learn what temperature is needed and how long the incubation is and read that you should have at least two females per male because they can be aggressive and mean to just one. Ceasar has never shown aggression towards any of the females. He is actually a nice guy too!
My granddaughter helped me pick out the names and she immediately came up with them. I couldn't believe it. They are perfect names for my girls. The darker reddish one is of course Sansa and the lighter colored one is 'Khaleesi' Ceasar was a year old before I could decide what to call him. Then all of the sudden, it came to mind. He had to have a strong name. He was just getting his coloring at one year old. I had no idea he would be so colorful and beautiful. Thanks for watching!
Very nice birds.
Very well looked after!
Thank you very much for the kind words.
I could watch this guys all day. :)) daydreaming about baby Caesar's :)) thank you for the video! Have a great one! 🐓🐔🐥😙💕
