    Love this bloke....I can relate with him.."there's the problem right here.......no it's not"..... this is in the way, cut that off"
    Regardless of the money saved from people fixing things themselves... best part is, your saving the environment! Quality needs to come back, instead of buying 10 cheap ones.

      I used to go through one of these every two months. I've switched to Metabo. They last!

      @@WildmanTech Old Metabo's are actually the best, marathon motor series, can't get them anymore.

      Check out when I plug it in! I'm always expecting a big spark.

      Seriously! That's always a scary moment.
      p.s. The switch broke on my newer red one. Probably gonna buy a replacement but I'm keeping the old one to fix later. It would be great to have a backup.

    I was building a handrail last summer when I let the smoke out of a newish dewalt dwe4011 so I grabbed another grinder where the paddle trigger was broken so 1/2 hour later I was up and running with a new paddle made out of metal. I am 55 miles away from the hardware store lol

    I have a simple toggle switch laying around which only has two connection points. Looking at videos of these types of switches it seems you would just have the "hot" wires going to each terminal and the toggle just connects or breaks the circuits. Angle grinders have 4 wires though. Are the other two wires the neutral? Could you just solder those together and just use the hot wires to the switch? The original switch is sticking. The angle grinder is a Harbor Freight I got on sale for probably $15 5 years ago. I could just spend $7-$10 for a new switch but at that point might as well just buy a new grinder. I did buy the 8amp 4.5in grinder with the rat tail trigger switch as I wanted a more powerful one but would be nice to have the original 5 or 5.5 amp grinder I have as a backup or to keep from swapping blades, wire brushes etc. with a free switch swap I have laying around.

  • @sgaws

    how did you identify the wires correctly to the switch ?

    • @WildmanTech
      @WildmanTech  10 місяців тому

      As long as you don’t cause a short circuit across the switch it’s pretty hard to go wrong. There are hot and a neutral coming from the wall. Just connect each of those to the two wires in the motor.

    From where did you know, that the specifications of the new switch (current, voltage) are fitting to the grinder?
    Cheerio from Germany.

    • @WildmanTech
      @WildmanTech  7 років тому +1

      The switch said right on it "10 amp," which is sure to be overrated as it was manufactured in China. The grinder was labeled 6 amp. While also almost certainly overrated, it's still far less than the switch.

      Thank you for your fast answer. I asked, because so much DIYs have no real idea, what they do with electricity. I see, you know!
      Cheerio from Germany.

    If you check you plug in chord and you fail to have continuity. check your cord insulation.. My cord got nicked by grinding wheel and it eventually broke a wire. I spliced cord and works like new.

    I saw this in Harbor Freight tools for $24.00. I figure if I had to buy the dremel tool, switch and band-aids for scratched hand I would just buy another one.
    Never the less it is a good video.

    The only problem with this repair is that original switch was safe one meaning that if u drop a tool it will switch off (impact triggered).
