May 2024 Power Tune: The Spotted Dog (by John McEvoy)

Here’s the next “Power Tune” for the Powers Music School Learners’ Irish Music Session for May 16, 2024: The Spotted Dog by John McEvoy.
I was alerted to this tune by a Fiddle Hell attendee named Kelsey, who hails from Austin, TX. She mentioned this tune The Spotted Dog and when I looked it up, I was instantly smitten! It’s cheerful, not too hard to play and a really nice melody: perfect for a learner’s session.

This tune was originally recorded on “The Kilmore Fancy,” but it looks like it might not be available for purchase now- but he’s got a fiddle album for sale so I urge you to check it out!
