      K Cooley I haven’t started interlocking yet. I am just going on month 2 of having locs. I plan on interlocking before my 3 month loc anniversary. I want to do the 2 point rotation because it looks simple and that is what usually works for me. My plan is to feel the root every time I do a rotation so that I can try and be able to know where I left off but I’m not going to lie I am worried I might mess up and put holes in my locs. 😩 I am just trying to do as much research as possible to build my confidence. Thank you so much for the information it is truly appreciated!!

    OK. I've been trying to figure out how to find out where I interlocked last. If I'm right, if the new growth in the root is flat then north was my last position. If it's more vertical then it's from the side. I hope that makes sense.

    • @KailaJ

      I like to take my time and wrap the fly aways around the loc. After I have wrapped the loose hairs around the loc, I interlock it to secure it in place. This has really helped me especially at the crown of my head and along my edges where the hair is a looser texture. They always seems to stick out like a baby bang 😂and its sooooo annoying! but that what works for me. If you give it a try, let me know how it works out!

    I hve the biggest case of loc envy or loc love for your locs!! 😍😍I decided last month after watching nearly ALL your loc journey videos that I wanted to loc my hair in the same matter as yours.. I hvent yet😬🤷🏽‍♀️ bc I can’t figure out a few things.. 1) How in the world did you get your parts soooo straight?? (Bc my OCD wont let me be great when it comes to parting in the back🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️) 2) How did you section your hair when starting your locs (didn’t see detailed info on it in any of your videos) Right now, I hve a tapered cut & I wanna keep my undercut & loc the rest BUT I also hve a nice patch of hair missing on the crown of my head bc of my lupus & an allergic reaction to synthetic hair (I believe). Soooo could you share some tips on how you sectioned your hair, How you keep your parts soooo straight when starting & retightening your locs. Anddddd, maybe if you have some tips on how to conceal thinning or bald spots, that’ll be GREAT!! Ok, I think that’s it 😂 I’m stepping away from the mic 🎤 now 😂👋🏽👋🏽Take care!!

      Lemme try and help you out: SL cost you MUCHO money (installation /maintenance). Some SL locticians charge by the 1/2 to the hour and if you've got some length during the installation it's going to cost you more to install. You have to sit in somebody's chair in somebody's house (not many in a salon) for hours having them do your hair. I know 'cause I've been there and done that. These DIY twists? Cost you nothing but your time.

      @KailaJ 5 років тому +8

      Hey!!! I’m glad to hear you have been maintaining your locs yourself. Interlocking in the beginning can be tough. I too have a few holes in some of my locs. My advice to you would be next time you interlock, pay close attention to the direction you last interlocked each loc ( I show how to determine that in the video) this will lessen the chances of damaging your locs. A few holes here and there is nothing to be worried about. Our hair is pretty resilient. But if the start to look weak or damage, then I would worry! Best of luck to you😊

      Try not to go directly into the same space over and over when you re-ti. This is what creates the hole. Try to place your tool in another place each and every time that you do your pattern. It's a small adjustment but one that allows you to eliminate the holes which over time weaken your loc.

    How often do you interlock? And does interlocking often break your hair? It’s been 2.5 months since my retwist. Some locs are already budding and some are not and have unraveled 😩😫

    I want to transition my daughter from palm roll to interlock. Her roots get pretty thick. Do you do this dry? Should use a product to tame tame first?

    For people who are just starting locs the terminology of 2 or 3point rotation and the north and south east west thing doesn’t make sense. Do you have any beginner friendly ones with explanations of what exactly you’re talking about, what the tool is called, and like extremely beginner content?

    I've been growing my dreads for 4 years just by twist. What's the purpose for the interlock?

    • @reginapugh
      @reginapugh 4 роки тому +2

      Interlocking allows the loc to stay retightened longer. Im considering this due to the fact that I want to be able to swim and workout without needing a retightening after each physical activity. You can go 3-4 monthe off of an interlocked retightening vs a few weeks off a traditional palm roll.
